I’ve been in Vegas 8 years and have never seen aria not have a 2/5 game at 8pm before. Normally they’d have 3-5 games going and 12-18 total games.

Last week there was only 2 2/5 games on weeknights and 4 games on Friday and Saturday when normally there would be 5-8 games. It’s definitely having an impact.

And am really interested in the Vegas specific response to how they respond when their economy is built around large amounts of people visiting from around the globe. Business has been good and the pencil pushers have been squeezing every nickel and dime out of us they can.

Free rooms with no resort fees and who knows how much free casino play and dining credits should be hitting my inbox soon. I love Vegas but a good dose of reality was needed. The days of me going to Vegas 2-4 times a year and "spending" 5K are long gone.

Wonder which strip casinos are going to start advertising 100x odds on craps first? Maybe I can get a free voucher for the $5.99 prime rib dinner just for touching the dice. I can only dream.
i'm sure they will.
i booked planet hollywood in august from march 15th-20th for about 60 bucks a day.
Last week when i looked the same reservation would have been about 1400 dollars.
Right now I can book those nights for 18-36 dollars a night.during march madness one of the busiest times of the year for vegas.

my friend i was supposed to go with had this friday and saturday comped there. he couldn't get thursday,it was showing 350 dollars. now he can get it comped no problem.

fwiw i'm a horrible customer. i have diamond and probably stayed at their properties 60 nights last year and gave them no action at all so this isn't from my play.

At least they will start using cleaning and hygiene protocols now. lol
The email they sent out yesterday was paragraph after paragraph that was little more than "use some common sense people blah blah blah" and "we sent this out because of the blathering everyone else is doing blah blah blah."

I'm so over the fear-mongering already...I'm just surprised it has not morphed into the hysteria about "Jade Helm" from a year or so back.

How do you get diamond if you don't give them any action? Is there a diamond hack I should know about?

---

Was at a Cirque show last night. Packed house still. I'm told the casino floors are much more empty during the day than usual.

It will go full throttle in like 2 weeks. Some sort of panic lock down and closures will follow. We are experiencing it here in Europe now. But we are like 2 weeks ahead. Hope well before June the storm has settled...

Status matching...usually some manner of offer going on. MGM Gold was one of the cards that could be spun up to Diamond as I recall and I believe there were some other hotel statuses that factored into the memo...

Oh man, the NCAA canceled the fans being in the arenas for the tournament. That will be weird to watch on tv with almost no noise. I bet a lot of people cancel their Vegas trips for March Madness. It will be more like March Mildly Annoyed.

Can you imagine what it's like for those people that finally won the lottery and got Final Four tickets? Even if they weren't fans and only entered the lottery so they could re-sell the tickets for thousands, what a bummer.

I'm coming out the last week of May for a week long stay. I predict 85% less blue hairs clogging up the sidewalks

I’m already sewing numbers of folks backing out (via a FB page for March madness). Also a possibility games don’t get played at all, although I’m guessing slim unless # of cases ramps up a ton in the next few days.

Nah, people who win tix thru lottery are upper deck. Not selling for thousands. Maybe they’d pick up a couple hundred per ticket. Is a bummer as final four is a cool experience that allows people to be around a major sporting event without spending a fortune.

The PAC12 tournament is in progress, and they said no fans in the arena, starting tomorrow. Of course, you can't tell tonight because Cal is playing Stanford, and the crowd is usually only a couple hundred anyway.

So all those people that bought flights and rooms traveled all the way to Vegas and can't watch the games in the arena. The kicker is, it's only carried on the PAC12 network, which isn't on any hotel room tv! So people will cram into sports books to hope to at least watch it on a relatively small tv and be in closer quarters than if they were in an arena.

I will not be traveling to Vegas on the 17th.
Full refund by airline and airbnb btw due to the decision to restrict all flights from europe to US.

Fwiw, I read the original as “maybe they would give a full refund since you are far out.” Part of the ORBITZ, etc business model is locking people into committee reservations. Unlike most reservations that can cancel 1-3 days ahead the ORBITZ and similar sites usually still charge.

But hopefully they make allowances given the times we are in.

I booked a flight for 4/28 and if its a pandemic of insanity I will fight for my money back under a force majeure argument.
im sure my credit card company will back me up/ failing that small claims is an option.

the way we handle chips there is not a virus in the universe we haven't been exposed to

Sadly, we are expecting to do the same once the NCAA announces no games (holding out slight hope yet, maybe 1 in 10).

We did actually book a house to stay, so mitigating a little risk that way with food prep.

Sad though for sure, but probably the right call...
