Your "analysis" neglected the effects of vaccination. And in cherry picking Texas, you've ignored how the current resurgence temporally relates to the ending of restrictions around the country. Of course the delta variant is the driver, and that's part of the point - in an environment of lax or nonexistent public health mitigation practices, newer and more contagious variants can arise and rapidly become predominant.

Finally, the effects of human activity on spread and severity of a major US pandemic were established a hundred years ago by extensive study following the 1918 pandemic.

His point was that people should have been smart and caring enough to do it themselves but we know that wasnt the case. In the country we have a political party actively ginning up their ignorant base against vaccines as they did masks and thus unfortunately recovery is slower than it otherwise would be.

Apologies to anyone here who thinks vaccines are created to track people, change their DNA, or even kill them. Marjorie Taylor Green is on your side.

If you are actually a professional (which I highly doubt), then you wouldn't be saying and touting the specious nonsense that evidently dominates your brain.

Here's a pro tip for you: the "mainstream media" is "mainstream" precisely because it's highly accurate and factual. The fringe media, the conspiracy theorists, etc. etc. are inaccurate and non-factual. I know that it's fashionable, or something, for the fringe types to cook up idiotic claims and "proof" that the Deep State is out to get us. There is no Deep State, you say? AHA!!! THAT'S JUST WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Especially when it comes to my health and well-being, I prefer to listen to qualified and responsible scientists rather than some attention-craving jerkwad raving away on late-night TV. Odd that I should make that choice, I know.

Isn't it amazing that she was the ONLY PERSON who knew about the Jewish space lasers?

We have a horrifyingly large demographic in this country that is willing to swallow whole just about any kind of nonsense. No "bullshit filter" at all--just "Hyuk, hyuk, sounds good to me!" And this doesn't happen spontaneously; the nimrod brigade is actively sought out and titillated by conspiracy theorists, Facebook "authorities," late-night TV pundits, and of course, a very famous orange orangutan.

How many times in the last few years have we said, "I can't believe that anyone actually listens to, let alone believes, this garbage?" But we've learned, to our sorrow, that 75 million of our fellow Americans are morons/clinically insane. So when a free and highly effective vaccination program is offered that helps those idiots to not die--well, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that they choose to die instead, because Tucker Carlson told them to.

Sounds like a reasonable assumption, that overhead would be a big - if not the main - reason for price differential between LV and NYC dining.

But here's the thing: When we go out for dinner, we don't really care too much about the restaurateur's overhead.

We care about the quality of food, the service, and the decor, and then about the bottom line on the check.

If you think that is 'incorrect', of course 'you are entitled to your opinion'.

In our book, though, a dining scene which offers better quality meal experiences for close to half the cost of what we are used to, is pretty close to the definition of 'extremely reasonably priced'.

London June 26th - around 100,000 people march in central London against lockdowns and for freedom; one of the organizers hires a helicopter to film the whole thing. I was there from start to end, great atmosphere and one of the most diverse groups of people I've ever had the pleasure to be with.

Same day - several hundred people march in central London protesting for [Climate change] - [BLM] - [free Palestine]

BBC reporting. London has seen today thousands of people protesting in London for [Climate change] - [BLM] - [free Palestine] - [anti-vax]

Yeah, very factual and accurate buddy

For Pig4bill, I found you to be a reasonable person from your posts in other threads. But this time, you are way off. Everyone can carry the virus even you are vaccinated. Vaccine can only protect you to a certain extent. If you are vaccinated, it means you are not likely to get sick/very sick/die. You will still test positive and be back to normal later. Protect yourself with mask and sanitize your hands reduce risk.
For your information, Americans are not allowed into Canada for non essential travel. And vice versa.
Prime Minister Trudeau hinted, a few days ago, to re open border sometime in August for fully vaccinated American citizens and green card holders. And to all vaccinated international travelers in September. Remember, this is just a plan. Nothing carved in stone.
I personally welcome this move because I have planned my trip to Vegas in October.
Lets not argue for the sake of argue. As usual, be wise and be smart. May God bless America and Canada. See you guys in October(hopefully)

The morons protesting against lockdowns weren't screaming for "freedom." They were screaming for what they thought was their right to be irresponsible *******s. "Waah, waah, I feel so deprived."

Freedom isn't absolute and definitely doesn't extend to endangering your fellow citizens.

Holy **** the amount of bull**** and anti-science in this thread is nauseating. I get it that poker players run the gambit with intelligence but hopefully everyone can look beyond their selves and realize that this virus is transmissible, vaccine or not and take some precautions to protect others. That’s why I wear a n95 mask, not so much because I might catch it but rather so I don’t end up carrying the virus and infect others by catching it.

I realize this has never been the popular belief in the americas but if you travel to any Asian country prior to the pandemic the majority of the sick wear masks for this very reason. In this case since the vaccine has now created a silent carrier scenario, it would be awesome if everyone would mask up, but that won’t ever happen as shown with the dissonance and anti-mask “mask are for wimps don’t tread on my freedums” narratives.

I’m on the Strip tonight and it’s super crowded with very few masks being worn. It doesn’t seem to matter if they are Republican, Democrat, or don’t care about politics. It looks like people don’t give a ****. Or they are really not in the mood to wear masks at the very least.

There is no mask required in Nevada, but use common sense. Do you need the government to TELL you how to protect your own health and that of your family ?

What you likely will see at the poker table are about 3 people masked and the rest not masked. Casino staff have been masked, that should give you a clue...... The threat perceived from Delta may skew those numbers, but don't bet your health either way.
Masks don’t work that well actually. This has been the case more or less in country after country regarding mask mandates and yes compliance is typically very high.

No, I don't believe they want the borders closed. After all, it's not good for the economy & everyone employed in the travel industry to keep them closed.

But one has to seriously consider their risk-assessment and will to go back to normalcy, if every new variant is going to be of 'concern' and delay things. The Delta-variant has already delayed reopening plans in several countries, without any evidence that it's more deadly than other variants.

Unless people accept that there will always be Covid-cases and people dying from it, we will never be able to go back to normalcy. But I assume you are willing to mask up and wait it out 'just a little bit longer' in the hopes that it will magically disappear. It's hard to interpret your posts in any other way at least.

All I want is for people to be allowed to take their own risk, like we did for millions of years before this. But sure, make it seem like I'm the insane one for wanting that, even though I'm fully vaccinated and have been following the restrictions for 16 months and counting. What a ****ing joke.

To address your, uh, "points" in order (and to afford your thoughts a dignity they don't really deserve):

1. There is a plethora of evidence that the Delta variant is indeed far more deadly, because it infects far more people and is more easily transmitted. Saying otherwise is like saying a machine gun isn't any more deadly than a pistol because they both fire bullets.

2. I don't hope the virus will "magically disappear." I hope that we will achieve herd immunity. If you've had trouble "interpreting" my posts in this regard, well, then, hire an interpreter, one who can read English.

3. Adhering to covid precautions isn't only about YOU. It's also about keeping others safe. Y'know, social responsibility. Perhaps an utterly alien concept to you.

4. Yes, you can "take your own risk." But unless and until you can do so while confining that risk to yourself alone, then it's an act of extreme selfishness: imposing risk on others.

5. And yeah, yeah, yeah, I've heard enough bellowing about people's PRESHUS FREEDUMB to make me vomit.

Hmmm...then Republicanism, as it leads to no-masking, no-vaxxing, and death, could be a subtle tool of Mother Nature to keep Earth from being overrun.

Tucker Carlson is actually a servant of Gaia. It all makes sense now.

The only trouble is, those damn humans are too inventive. Not enough kills to make much difference in the long run. What the planet needs is Black Death II. Like in that (awful) movie, "The Day After Tomorrow"; at the end, maybe two billion people have been killed---but the air is so clean!!!

And Vegas is now the leading coronavirus hotspot in the country. Cases and hospitalizations are skyrocketing; deaths will follow, as they always have (that bloodless phrase, "lagging indicator").

Vegas's vulnerability is unique, as people come from all over the US, including all the dead-red no-vaxxer states (some with vaccination rates below 1/3); furthermore, the ghastly heat makes people congregate inside, as opposed to other summer destinations.

I get it that masks are uncomfortable and a nuisance. I even sorta kinda in a way, but not really get it how getting a vaccination is a hideous and terrifying ordeal. So if people aren't going to be responsible, don't let 'em come. Restrict entry to Vegas to the fully vaccinated.

Vegas this summer has been the epitome of corporate greed. Desperate to re-inflate the bottom line, the casino government forced Sisolak to reopen everything. And now Vegas is booming, even though the price of everything has doubled or tripled and service is worse than terrible.

I really don't see why a Vegas visit would be anything but unpleasant right now. Add to that "dangerous"--however much so you might think it is--and I give it a hard pass, thank you.

Tell us more about how you have been conditioned to believe people's freedom is selfish, with your bought and paid for pseudoscience on your regularly scheduled programming. The fact you keep bringing up politics is telling, most people let the right/left paradigm guide their emotions into silly talking points they wouldn't otherwise have. Both sides and their respective media outlets are there to divide you and dumb you down.

The vaccine/masks/hazmat suits are available for anyone to use and wear and everyone is free to assess their own risks. No amount of of ridiculous media buzzwords like silent carriers and superspreaders should change that everyone can "protect" themselves by simply quarantining if they feel so inclined. Very glad to see a few in here get it. Turn off the TV, take care of your body, mind your nutrition and use your OWN common sense.

Corporate greed is definitely driving the current spike in cases in Las Vegas mixed in with people's selfishness and personal wants over anything else, but mainly corporate greed for creating the environment for the latter. The people making the decisions and profiting from this the most are not the people who are actually boots on the ground in Vegas. The high level executives who pushed for everything to fully open and are now raking in the cash with higher prices while offering less services are not actually on the strip amidst the masses. That's what makes it easy for them. They have no risk and all the rewards. It's the employees who are baring the brunt of the risk for the mere reward of a wage to survive.
