Marta,

I would like to start by thanking you for sharing this information with me. I followed your results day by day and it got to the point that my coworkers were asking what you did the day before. If your ears were ringing its because this guy from Canada spent a bit of time on your virtual rail.

I play on the weekends and online quite often and find I am successful but I don't feel that the money that is generated at 1/2,2/5,MTTS is really not a realistic amount to live on in North America.

Thank you for collecting this data, sharing it, and sharing your journey.

Be safe!

V4ARC

The End

Day 88: -$185 in 8.5 hours (total +$13791 in 800 hours)

The grind was fun but playing 800 hours has been too much (need to sport more). Total result a bit of a disappointment.
Next year's goals:
1 1/2 month of 2/5 and 1 1/2 month of 5/10 (during WSOP).
Playing 700 hours with total result of 17k.

@V4ARC cool to read that you followed my updates from the rail.
Is the 2/5 at your Canada city any good .... (min/max buyin, rake)?

If anybody knows good poker destinations with low rake outside of US feel free to PM me :-)

Hope to CU all next year, Marta

Will be back this week grinding, going for my 5th result set to compare.

The start will be 2/5 NLH, maybe moving up to 5/10 NLH when WSOP starts (if I have the guts and good 2/5 results). Start with 15k BR.

Am going to post (daily) Excel screenshots of my result-porn after day 3.

Goals:
700 hours of play (half of which is 5/10 NLH), 15k profit, sporting every week, doing some happy grinding

Talk to you soon, Marta

Why is this in LVL and not in poker goals and challenges?

First day I only post numbers (After 2nd day I will post graphs of "Day result", "Day hours", "Total result", "Total hours", "Total hourly" and "Total daily")

Result (Trip 1, Trip 2, Trip 3, Trip 4) Now
Day 1 (153, 374, 319, -397) -398
Day 2 (135, 1233, 848, 929)

Hours (Trip 1, Trip 2, Trip 3, Trip 4) Now
Day 1 (3, 7, 8.5, 10) 10
Day 2 (8.5, 9, 10, 11)

Almost the same start as previous trip. Little bit card dead, not my A-game (I noticed that I am very tired arriving by plane and my confidence level is low
) and some bad luck were the cause.

Going for a decent 7 hour sleep. Hope I can bring good news tomorrow ....

Might be easier to read if you average the $$$ and hours from the previous trips and compare that to this year? i.e.

Day 1 -398(10), +112(7)

meaning you were -398 for 10 hours on Day 1 for this trip. And the average of the past 4 trips was +112 over an average of 7 hours

Just a thought....

Day 2: -10 in 10.5 hours

Not playing my A-game yet. When I turned my top set (nuts) I raised too small (the board was draw heavy) so my opponent called with his flush-draw. Flush came on the river and he checked. I (150 behind) checked behind and lost the 450 pot.

Looking forward to my first win and to play 5/10 soon.

@Blackballed: maybe you are right, but from now on there will be graphs (in which I show all 5 trips)

Day 3: 138 in 12.5 hours

Good feeling to end in the positive today. Starting to get into the grind routine hour wise, but did not sleep the night before Day 3 :-(

Too lazy/sleepy to table change as a pro and also changing position at the table. You know that you are not paying attention enough when another local grinder makes the correct table change before you. Going to improve this.

GLGL MG - you have inspired with your consistency and your work ethic and I look forward to following another summer of your hardcore cash game grinding in LV!

@blackballed - 3 years ago when I started following Marta (I can't believe time flies by so fast!) I felt the same way but once you get use to reading how Marta displays their results it was easy to follow - also the graphs make it very easy to follow.

Day 5: +435 in 10 hours

A good day. I increased my hourly to $1.08 an hour :-)
This was good for my morale and now I know that I can still do it.

My next goal is to chase the Trip 1 (yellow) Total Result line with my current Trip 5 (blue) Total Result line (the gap between both trips is currently $960).

@Natamus, thabighurt35, Coach McGuirk, wojomon and dNAssume : thank you all for the GL support. I hope my results can cause some (positive) excitement to us all.

Day 6: -497 in 7 hours

Played horrible today and got what I deserved. Also stayed at games where there was no money to be made. Feeling stupid now, but have to regroup. It seems that atm I am a lazy poker player not investing energy to play my A-game. Hope I can force a change in my poker attitude soon.

Marta you prob answered this already but do you in play in games with a 100bb cap and buy in full or a 200bb cap and buy in full or at 100bb's?
Comparing 3 result sets Quote

Squid my friend, I can not analyze yet if the games have deteriorated. A lot depends on the luck of the day (and you moving out should have caused the opposite). It is still possible to find the fish here in the big pool.
The V is much slower now and the big room looks sad with all these empty tables some part of the day (maybe WSOP changes this).
Wynn also has increased their rake so in the long run this will affect results :-(

Surfinillini I prefer the cap to be as high as possible, because this is better for opponents to make their mistakes (I think). The cap is actually not the most important to me, because when I start a session I mostly buy in a bit less than 100bb. Most important is the level of the opponents at my table (avoid players like Squid).
