Overall the Choctaw poker room does not even come close to the traffic that Winstar gets. The exception to that is when they have bigger name tournies run. It’s a nicer room as far as decor, but just not that busy compared.

rule #1 around here is 'don't make security/police do their job'

don't be a dick and everyone will treat you fairly. respect people's privacy and most people will do the same for you.

careful on Fremont. You can run into Johnny FirstDay and get a big ticket. Just walk off to a side street and don't bother anybody and you'll be left alone. On the strip go nuts, you're the least of anyone's concerns.

Don't go too far down that side street after midnight if you're new to the big city/urban scene. Fremont Street changes texture about midnight.

I've been smoking grass for 27 years.

I wish someone would chime in with how to beat the freeroll nits.

Thanks for the advice, Gzesh. I won't be going too far down any side streets. Hopefully some of these youngsters follow that advice.

I generally don't worry too much about that stuff, tho. I'm a hillbilly that's bigger than most people claim to be on the internet. Not to mention I have a bit of a knife fetish. It takes a special kind of crazy to mess with me. Not that I'm tough or anything. I just look like the type people generally want to avoid.

Even keeps my relatives at bay.

Game selection my friend-key to your trip.

Craftsteak for MGM steak choice (both wagyu and certified Kobe available)

If you choose downtown for part of the stay, Vic and Anthony's at the Nugget is the best steak downtown, but there are several old school options like Hugo's Cellar at the 4Queens that can be fun also

PAC 12 tournament confirmed fun. I used to enjoy going when it was held at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Make sure to check out Ellis Island which is slightly off strip. Great prices on ribs or a steak and very reasonable table limits.

Remarkably close. Especially if that's a .45-70 Government and not a .30-30.

At one time, this was good advice. Now, while the above statement is technically true, it's definitely a case of you get what you pay for.

That's too bad. I used to always get their steak and eggs after midnight (super cheap, price not on menu). I'd say it was quite good at least 4 out of 5 times...certainly better than the Steak and Eggs at Winstar. That being said, I can't vouch for anything else at Ellis Island. The omelets there are absolutely disgusting.

Nobody goes to Choctaw in Durant outside of major tournaments. Those should happen around 4 times a year, so just wait for one those to be going on before checking it out. Even then I'd check the Bravo Poker App to see what games are running to make sure you want to go to Choctaw over Winstar.

100 hours is not that much when all you do is playing poker and eating. I've been to Vegas solo multiple times for 2-3 weeks. My usual schedule includes brunch + walk + day time poker session (3 to 5 hours) + dinner + evening session (4 to 6 hours) ... if we take an average of 9 hr/day that's around 126 hours of live poker in 14 days.

I use Bravo all the time to see what is going on and the possible wait. Thanks for the response.

Not sure whether the food at Ellis Island was good or if I was just that hungry. But it always hit the spot.
