Dusting off my boots, tuning Pandora to Waylon Jennings, Marty Robbins, Keith Whitley, & James McMurtry and making a trip to Las Vegas. Yee Haw.

Arriving on March 12th and leaving on March 26th.

Would appreciate any advice and feedback y'all can give. If there is any interest in a hillbilly's trip and perspective I'll do my best to post every day. I'll even learn to post pics.

Agenda:

1. Hit up some dispensaries. Heavy on the flower, light on the vape.
2. Drink some local/regional beers. I drink Guiness, so prefer porters and dark beer.
3. Eat a really good steak.
4. Play 100 hours of 1/2 and 1/3. Don't really play tourneys but wouldn't mind getting in some promo hours and qualifying for a coup!e of free rolls.
5. Play Trooper Thursday. Buy some coffee and tip my hat to Carl if he is around.

First week I'll be staying at MGM. Second week is undecided.

Very much interested. Not your first time in vegas? 100 hours would be quite impressive. Have some fun too!

Think it's definitely doable within OP's time frame, but it's around 7 hours a day. So that doesn't leave much time for other stuff.

Either way, will be follow along!

Second time in Vegas. A few December's ago I was there for the rodeo. Played less than 20 hours. Was helping a friend with some horses and spent less time on the strip than I would have liked.

Pretty sure I can get the hours. I wake up early and don't sleep much anyway. Won't do any shows.

Might catch a Pac-12 basketball game or two. Conference tourney will be close enough to where I'm at I can see myself checking that out.

What's your plan on smoking? You can only legally smoke in a private residence. I'll be there the first week in April and trying to figure out how tight they actually are on that.

Well, I haven't really thought about that. Probably a good question. I just kind of assumed I would be as discreet as I could be. For the better part of the 27 years I've been smoking it has been illegal and I haven't had any problems.

FWIW, when I was there a few years ago, I know I could smell it every time I was on the strip. That was before the change in the law.

It won't be a major part of my trip, just want a chance to sample a few different strands and compare it to what makes its way to Texas. I imagine I'll keep a few rolled and just take hits when it seems like a good opportunity.

I'm pretty sure we will have a balcony for some of the trip, though the hotel is non smoking. Guess I'll just play that part by ear.

I'll definitely post on here now well that goes.

What can be done discreetly in Las Vegas has improved 100x with legalization of edibles. I recommend sampling that category over smoking as a general matter.

I am literally 36,000 feet over the Atlantic (on my way back from Amsterdam) and would stack the quality and variety of readily available, legal Nevada products against whatever is available in Texas.)

That's pretty good advice. I will admit I'm a little old fashioned and have struggled with the new ways of doing things.

First time I dabbed it put me on my arse for 10 hours, I tend to just over eat edibles until I'm in a coma, and I usually get bored with vape pens about half way through.

That being said, I haven't ever had any hard candies and I think that may be a good option.

Amsterdam....that's on my bucket list, too.

Jack-Gzesh is correct the most discreet method would be to use edibles, and you can moderate your dosage much more effectively with the current offerings.

That being said, (and no Gzesh lets please not argue about this), you will be fine smoking in your room in any strip casino as long as you are not trying to Hot Box and consume multiple pre-rolls with a large group. If you are really paranoid, place a towel at the crack below the door to the hallway making sure all smoke will be removed via the exhaust ventilation in every bathroom (you can check the draw by placing a square of toilet paper over the grate-if its held in place, you have negative pressure and over time all will be exhausted)

Using flower in your room is technically against hotel policies, and I am not advocating breaking any laws on a public forum, just letting you know that it is not actively enforced as long as you don't rub security's nose in it,

What's everyone's experience with edibles? I've only ever smoked before, so I don't know what to expect. I heard it takes a long time for them to kick in but it lasts much longer than smoking. I was thinking of getting a 10 pack of the 10mg candies and seeing how they did but I'm worried about the type of high versus smoking. Sounds like one 10mg edible is equivalent to a couple hits or sharing a joint.

For reference, I'll be in Vegas by myself and won't have anyone to babysit me.

I think it's going to be a bit different for everyone but I would start with a 1/3 or 1/2 of a 10mg just to see where that gets you. I'm in CO and have tried a bunch of different brands and it typically takes 45 to 75 minutes for things to kick in.

This is usually my move at Choctaw. Never thought of checking the draw that way, tho. Old dog learned a new trick today. Ty

Not a problem at all, you will notice hundreds of people smoking on the strip, especially at night. Cops do not enforce it, unless you stand in front of a cop and blow smoke in his face. Be discreet about it and it will all be good. If you do not want to smoke on the strip you can always smoke in less open places. A very good place we found was the little park or whatever just ahead of Bellagio main entrance/valet overlooking the fountains.

But yeah, you will more or less smell weed everywhere walking down the strip.

Cops have literally said during interviews in Vegas that they are not actively looking for it. Which means that unless you do something really stupid you should be ok to smoke anywhere outside, especially after dark. Just use common sense.

Hi CactusJack,

Chicken farmer, eh? I have a friend with a gang of chickens, she got them for $1 each. How many chickens do you have?

Is there a lot of money in chicken farming?

Yes and thats why he’ll be just fine.

However politicians or lawauthorities might force police to take a different approach sometime in the future.

Jack - Do you go to Choctaw in Durant, if so how is it? New to North Texas and have only tried Winstar. Really miss Coushatta and Lauberge in Lake Charles.

I think the hotel is nicer. I don't go in the pits unless I'm dragging friends away from the baccarat tables, so can't speak to that.

I really only go during events. I don't really play tourneys and have just about decided that even during big events cash games at my level are still better at Winstar during those times.

When I used to work, I'd play 2/5 at Choctaw during their events and did pretty well. Now I just play 1/2 and do a lot better at Winstar.

From what I hear, they just don't get many cash games in general compared to Winstar. They seem to be trying to be more competitive with their Saturday tourney, tho.
