While I agree with you, other people define privacy differently.
A subset of those - poker pros - are not only neutral but probably incentivized to publicize their winnings because they will benefit from endorsements and such.
In my professional life, my name is widely publicized, in publications and patent applications. Anyone can look me up and spam my E-mail or look up how much I paid for my house. But it's a trade off I'm willing to make for my profession, and benefits me to have a public record of my accomplishments more than it costs in my privacy.
