There is a free shuttle from Rio to Ballys, right across the street from Bellagio.

The Mall. CG is valet, probably only for guests. The B has a fee.

Yes. It stops down Flamingo past the check-in desk in the North Tower.

Yes, for the Rio walk--horrible. For the miracle mile you're inside there, and again if you use the pedestrian bridge and cut through the Cosmo, and in the shade for the moving sidewalk at the Bellagio. Not so bad.

I agree. For me a lot depends on what time I'm walking. If it's 4am and there aren't many people around, I can walk to places much quicker than I can if there are slow moving crowds of people getting in my way everywhere I walk (and street performers, crowds watching street performers, people taking photos, etc.).

This morning I paid 80 bucks to run 13.1 miles up and down some hills at close to 80 degrees and 85% humidity. Just for fun (and a nice award)

Some people just like to walk. From Rio to Bellagio I do it to clear my head and refocus. From MGM Signature to Bellagio I do it because I am too cheap to pay for a taxi ride that doesn't even save that much time. Maybe not at 115 degrees, but 100-105 in Vegas actually feels way better than 90 in the South or Midwest.

FWIW, if the sidewalk on the Strip is busy I usually walk in the area between sidewalk and street, facing traffic. But that's obv nothing I'd recommend since it might be kinda dangerous.

Nothing wrong with walking, its good for you, but that particular walk at night with a few k in your pocket would not be that fun. I feel totally safe walking up and down the strip but I have heard things about the Rio to strip and vice versa walk. I have never done it.

Any time I stayed at Rio I would take my car or occasionally the Free shuttle.

I think the walk between Rio and Bellagio in night time hours. is generally very safe. During WSOP when there should be more walking traffic than usual, I think it should be even safer than average.

Remember that you can park in the convention center lot and scoot under the freeway to Caesars. That might be shorter than Flamingo. No idea how safe it is at night. At least the cars are moving slower.

Yea, google maps shows you can walk twain to Frank Sinatra and go from edge of wsop parking to edge of Caesars on Frank Sinatra in about 5 min. Poker room to Poker room would be a lot more tho.

What is "the convention center lot"?

Convention lot is WSOP parking.

It's the huge lot for the Rio convention center. If you drive or take cabs/uber, it's a lot shorter trek to park back there or get dropped off there. Cabbies all know what "drop me off at the WSOP" means.

Went to take my kid to the M&M store. MGM wanted $15 to park. I've always hated paying for parking and can't stand that Vegas is doing this now.

Just a heads up for everyone.

I don't know if the Fashion Show Mall charges for parking or not. But if they don't and you park there and play poker in the nearby casinos, they will probably catch on pretty quickly, since a short time after the stores close they're used to seeing an empty, or near empty, parking garage. Must of us poker players tend to do most of our playing in the evenings, late evenings and early morning hours--well after the stores close. You may find your car towed or booted if you car is still there after closing.

Someone in the B&M forum mentioned that gates are going up at the Encore self park garage.

I saw a car last week enter the Aria parking garage, stop, and then turn around and leave. Looked like tourists that were surprised they had to pay for parking lol. Saw this at Mandalay Bay a few months ago too.

Once at PHo, it's a bit further to the sidewalk, waiting for the light at the Strip to change, then over the people mover.
Vital Vegas reports that the moving sidewalk at Bellagio has been removed. So that'll add a couple of minutes for those entering from the strip near Cosmo.

The moving sidewalk has been closed, but I assumed it was temporary for maintenance. Does anyone know what is going on? Doesn't seem like they would just remove it for no good reason.

That area with the moving sidewalks has opened up and people have to walk in that entire area now (the moving sidewalks were removed). However, those things didn't always work and now there is a much wider space to walk in now. Still could annoy some people though.

I've walked in that area at least a couple of times since it opened up.

Makes sense, they took those out of Mirage and Caesars too. My guess is they're a maintenance nightmare and they don't exactly beautify the place.

Yes, maintenance nightmare. Also, I think less need to attract foot traffic than in the past. Probably most of the foot traffic now are tourists checking out the fountains, and guests returning to their rooms after visiting other properties (and going straight to their room), so they're walking in regardless.

When I stayed at Bally's years ago, I'd be returning to my room 3, 4, 5 AM from a night of poker and walking a mile or so from whatever room. It was always a pet peeve that they turned of their moving sidewalk at that time. I suppose they didn't want to encourage the various miscreants in to their casino. Most hotel guests was long in bed. Probably wanted to save on the electric expense and wear and tear, too.

It might be a good idea for the lower tiered properties to install them. It might help the bottom line. The higher end properties don't need them. Bally's could definitely use one and should put it back. Who wants to walk all the way from the strip into that place. Moving sidewalk? Maybe.

Ya'll are putting in a lot of effort to save a few bucks. Why not get the MGM Credit card? (Or does it have an annual fee now)

Well now that Bally's has a flea market out front they'll want people wandering through that. In general expect to see even more monetizing of the strip-front parts of hotels.

When I was there a year ago they had some small shops out front that provoked a big yawn on my part. They might pick up some rental revenue but I don't see those shops drawing many into their casino who aren't already staying at their hotel.

As far as other properties, what's the point of making your property pleasing to the eye from the street if you're then going to block the view with a bunch of retail outlets? Not to mention those same retail stores are pretty much everywhere you go, so nothing special.

Juxtaposition that with paid parking and they don't seem to want to entice anyone to come to their property. But hey, if some CEO thinks that's good for business, who am I to say otherwise.
