Wynn already announced paid valet coming in Dec - "at this time" self parking stays free.

You could ask the same question of parking on the strip. Who pays for money at MGM? Is there a free parking garage/lot downtown? I didn't see it. Everywhere was charging. My thought was how are these ****holes charging for parking when the far nicer resort casinos on the strip are not. Didn't seem to make a lot of sense.

The ante in black jack is basically a state tax. The casinos have no say in that at all. Don't get me wrong, I've never played BJ in OK and never will, but their tables are filled up.

online poker the easier way to do it... I will fall just short of diamond aspiration 1 (40k tier) from online play. And i know several ppl over 100k tier just from online poker.

Depending on level and where you play, it can take as many as 294 hours of 1-2 play to achieve platinum status. 5000 tier credits to achieve platinum, and 17 tier credits per hour at most poker rooms.

Your best bet is to play at a room like Caesars as they offer double the tier credits. Or, park at Mlife as it only takes 75 hours for free parking.

Free shows, all of which suck except maybe 1 or 2. Once you see them the free show benefit is worthless. Diamond lounges in Vegas are weak - most of the time the best thing in them are cookies.

Ugh, no thanks. I haven't been downtown since you could drive down Fremont all the way to the end.

That's actually not completely true. It's the casinos choice to pass that charge onto the patron. A quick browse online will find that some Oklahoma casinos choose not to have an ante. Also, your statement doesn't explain the $1+ antes at larger stakes. Also it's funny that one would blame this on Oklahoma law when these rules are a result of a gaming compact made between the state and the tribes. That's like if a dealership in TX blamed the state for not letting them be open 7 days a week when in fact the Texas Automobile Dealership Association supports the law because it helps keep labor costs down.

Also, I don't think there is any denying that the Chickasaws are making way more money off gaming than any of the strip casinos. It's pretty funny to me that someone would be so outraged at a company that isn't even profitable that they would rather take their business to a casino where the owners are swimming in piles of money Scrooge McDuck style.

Encore is my home base during the WSOP. You can get from self park to the guest elevators in a minute. (And to the Rio in a heartbeat) If and when they start charging for self park, I'll need to reassess if splurging on a room there is really worth it. (Costs have obviously gone up over the years)

To clarify, I don't stay at Encore solely because of the ease of self park... but it is pretty damn nice relative to other resorts. (This benefit is pretty meaningless during non WSOP trips)

When are the pay toilets with coin operated TP dispensers going live?

If you just like parking do TI. You don't even have to cross the Strip to get to the Rio.

You can look down the row and instantly see a green light amongst all the reds and drive up to that spot instead of weaving down each row looking left and right trying to find a spot. The worst is when you have a tiny car hidden behind an SUV and think there's a spot only to be dissappointed.

I wasn't aware that they were choosing to pass it on to the consumer. In reality, it doesn't really matter. They charge it, an they get it, all the time. I played poker at Winstar when I lived in Dallas, and that place stays busy, especially on the weekends. What's crazy, is that the place is a freaking tent basically. If a tornado hit it, it would be wiped flat. Well except for the hotel(s), they are real.

Back on subject, it's sad to see Vegas turning into a nickel and dime place. I guess I get the broad business aspect of why, but it doesn't make it inviting. I'm not even talking about the cost aspect to me, just how everyone is squeezing everyone as much as possible. It's just not making it as fun as it once was.

You're supposed to see if there are any spots available before you drive into the row.

If you can't tell, they either messed up the system or you might need new glasses.

Lots of casinos in Europe charge for parking, admission and drinks. So we already know what the next steps might look like..

Almost everyone I know that goes to Vegas loves to pregame and degen it up at 1/2. I'm guessing the free booze is a pretty sizable draw to these lower stakes games. Would be a shame to see this happen too, which looks like an inevitability.

At Bellagio, 90% of the time I see an empty parking spot within 1 second of pulling into the garage, and I take it. The lights don't accomplish anything. the other 10% of the time I drive down one row and easily find a place within 1 minute.

The only time the garage was ever full enough that lights conceivably would have helped, it was because one of the parking levels was completely closed...because they were working on installing the lights!

They have similar roulette in indian casinos in California.

I have no idea why using a ball is illegal but using cards isn't.

Places like Caesars, Venetian, Wynn fill up. Not sure I've seen Ballys fill up, but definitely close enough to make finding a spot take a long time.

Because the opposition didn't want to allow gambling at all. Just playing cards was a compromise that seemed benign enough to be allowed.
