Any free Craps lessons in Strip Casinos( or best resource online for basic strategy and etiquette)?
Would 400$ would be enough for couple hours?

Casino Royale has $3 craps at times during the week. Dealers aren’t the greatest, but they’re the cheapest spot that I know of.

Those games are usually jammed. You’d need to go at different hours. But I believe they have 20x odds, which is always nice.

Wizardofodds will give you a beginner's guide and a strategy guide. Further, a free game simulator so you can practice making a few bets. Try and work out what the payouts will be.

As to how long $400 will last, it depends how you choose to play. If you just bet the pass line and take moderate odds, the game is boring as all hell, but $400 will last you. If you place all the numbers (4,5,6,8,9,10) and press bets, $400 could last you half an hour if things go badly.

Maybe pass line and 1 (or 2 max) come bets (once you understand what bet you are making, how to make it and which numbers you are sweating) will give you the right mix of "action" combined with play time for your roll.

20x odds is sweet, but pointless if your mission is to last as long as possible.

Also, wizardofodds is primarily focussed on the maths ~ to several decimal places. Therefore all their advice is aimed to minimise the house edge. While that makes sense from a BR perspective, it doesn't mean you shouldn't diverge from it in the pursuit of fun.

As with a lot (all) of house games, you have to decide where you are on the spectrum of wanting to win big and wanting to stay there as long as possible. To win big, you need to play aggressively for short periods of time. You will mostly lose due to that aggression, but once in a while you will win the world. To stay there a long time, you usually subject yourself to a guaranteed loss, but that's the choice ~ you can't have it both ways.

I was last in Vegas in the fall and had gotten lots of various recs for $5 craps and ultimately couldn’t find anything less than 10 running on the strip during the day and by night it was sometimes hard to find $10 tables.

I hit two straight hard 6s on our electronic craps machine in Scottsdale today with the max bet ($35)out there. I felt very proud of myself.

Probably worth a cab to downtown to play the $1 craps with 100x odds. As for etiquette, don't put your hands in the well when the "dice are out," meaning the stickman has pushed them back to the shooter. Feel free to ask questions of the dealer closest to you. I tip every dealer at the end of their push, but some people do not tip at all, some place bets for the dealers and then they take the winnings, if any. At most place they appear to pool tips. GL/HF.

I really like Ellis Island. When I was there craps table was $5 min bet. The steak/ribs/beer is also ridiculously good AND cheap. If you take a 10 dollar uber there it will pay for itself in the quality of food you get.

You can pay 5x this price on the strip and get food that isn't as good.

The casino is kind of a dive but I like it.

I've seen $5 craps at places like the Cosmo and CP on weekdays in the morning.

I'm thinking you'd have a good chance at $5 at Excalibur. I'd consider something like Hooters just off strip or Ellis Island is kind of fun. I thought O'Shea's inside the Linq always had $5 craps and I figure in other table games part of Linq they should have $5 craps.

I miss Bill's for $5 craps.

You can probably find it at the Strat but if you're that far north I'd just go downtown. An afternoon of low limit gambling downtown isn't a bad way to spend some time.

where is $1 with 100x?? is it 1 table mobbed ? or a standard thing. also never seen a casino where pit dealers keep their tips.

to o.p. Cromwell during day is $5 tables, friendly. great drink service and super clean. my favorite place to degen in l v.

f.w.i.w. i think bubble craps is fine if youre tinkering around for a bit. but it lacks socialization and it moves pretty fast if youre a rookie to dice. i wouldn't recommend it.

When I was at the D a couple years ago I recall playing it, but I could easily be mistaken. Even so, I still think it is worth a trip. The Cromwell is a solid rec too.

When you say "keep their tips," do you mean as opposed to pooling them, or that the dealers don't actually get any of the tips? If the latter, that seriously makes me sad -- I've tipped a lot over the years.

Dealers keep their tips but at most places they are pooled. Management taking their tips would constitute wage theft.

thanks re :d casino. ill look into it.

and in my experience. all the dealers tips are pooled either by shift or casino day 6am-6am and then divided by each employees hours for that time. poker dealers usually keep their own tips.

that isnt to say not to tip the dealers, never know when the kindness will be repaid.

The best time for it is on slow days of the week or early morning. I've played on them where I was the only person playing. The game moves no faster than you because nothing happens until you PUSH THE BUTTON!

the one i played in new orleans(which was most recent one i messed with) it just shot the dice for you after 20 seconds..

ellis island is fun, is super super smokey, but has cheap games and good beer selection. it also has karaoke which is fun diversion.

no question between cromwell and ellis, cromwell during day.

This is likely true for most, but I have found great entertainment for hours on minimal bankroll playing the dont's and 3x odds on a $10 table. Variance is about as low as you can get and if the table gets cold you are picking up bet after bet instead of watching multiple ones get raked away all at once.

Granted, you have to not mind being "that guy" who is winning when most are losing and you'll likely get needled if the table is hot and your losing while everyone else is whooping it up. I spent years at my local playing craps like that and played a ton of hours, got a good number of comps and had a lot of fun on not much money (relative). I then changed to playing box numbers because it was more "fun"when they hit multiple times, which they don't very often and as per the end of the above quote, you can burn through money faster than my wife on a bender at the outlet mall buying things on "sale".

Live ("live") craps is rigged.

Had a pretty good run on that machine last night. In for $40, out for $130, playing mostly $2 pass-line/max odds/inside and the occasional hard 6/8 (couple paid!)

Wish I had the roll to put $35 (or even $10) on a hardways...

Can we turn this into a craps strategy thread? Or is that too much of a hijack? Just curious about people's betting strategies. Always max odds on points? Come bets? Placing 8 and the 8? when to press the bets vs. taking money off the table. Dice setting. Totally worthless?

- Pass line plus full odds

- Place bets (start typically with two of them, expand accordingly). Start pressing after making a point

- If I'm feeling profligate I'll do come bets plus full odds instead of place bets

- Only bet hardways if doing two-way bets, which means I'm winning

- Dice setting is for children
