In Cherokee NC, Harrahas has $7+$1 rake. $8 a hand.
I used to go during the WSOPC events, but since they started that $8th dollar- I said fuukk em’.
Unfortunate to hear that it's got that high there. But I figured a $7 rake would be death for a Las Vegas room given the competition.

Sometimes $7+0 could be better than 5+2 especially if promos are particularly tough to collect on, and the former is 10% up to $7, and the latter is $1+1 on $10, $2+2 on $20, $3+2 on $30, $4+2 on $40, $5+2 on $50.

tipping good dealers = good. forcing a tip to subpar or lame auto-pilot dealers = not so good.

8.25 * ~2000 (full time) = $16000 (approx, lowballed)

dealers deal roughly 20-25 hands a hour. Let's go with 20 hands a hour. Assuming a 90% tip rate of $1, this works itself out to $18 on top per hour.

$18 * ~2000 (full time) = $36000 (approx, lowballed)

$16k+$36k = 52k/yr.

If a dealer decides upon themselves that they only wish to work roughly 4 hours a day 5 days a week, thats completely their own prerogative.

Why do you think this is true in Las Vegas?

Even if they gave 100% back, in many cases most players can expect zero back. Right now Venetian's only promo is a $50,000 bad beat jackpot of AAAA or better beaten. It would take a typical player several lifetimes on average to hit that. So it's essentially rake paid to the house and a table of other players who aren't you (assuming a table share). Also, if you trust that all these casinos aren't skimming significant amounts off the top through either legal or extra-legal means, you need to grow up. Also, don't forget to tip when they give back the money they took from you.

Working 2000 hours is not the same thing as dealing 2000 hours. You have chip running, tournament downs, two 15 min breaks, staff meetings, and on and on. Heck, just getting from the poker room to the time clock is gonna take some time in megacasinos.

A lawyer may be in the office 80 hours but only bill for 60. A full time therapist or social worker at an agency will work 40 hours but only have 20-30 hours of direct client time. So without taking a poll of dealers itt, we won't have an idea of how many 'tipped' hours per year they have, but it ain't 2000, that's for sure.

OP you're such a friendly 2+2er. I'd be happy to meet you. To tell you you're human trash.
If you hate Vegas so much, don't go. No one in Vegas wants you.

You simply cannot get full time hours dealing in Las Vegas outside of the 7 weeks during WSOP. Also, if you work an 8 hour shift, you will be on break or “brush” 2-3 hours on average and earning $0 tips.

So how much does the average poker dealer make per week for how many hours?

Thanks for bumping this thread. I also wanted to mention that on my subsequent trip to Vegas, I was in a 1-2 game and a guy threw out a chip to tip the dealer, but the dealer had his head turned and didn't see it. And the chip rolled over in front of me, and since I was just coming into the big blind, I only put out one chip and just acted like the chip that had rolled over was the other half of my big blind. And no one noticed.
