Remember reading this thread in real time, was a great read! Seen mentioned just in passing in another thread that Harborlaw was a scammer? I remember him being really active, anyone know the story on that?

Apparently he made a fake account/thread as some kid who wanted advice for a budget anniversary Vegas trip, then posted in the thread as harborlaw looking like the most generous guy ever with free limo ride and shows and dinner etc. Turned out to be coming from the same IP address and harborlaw made all of it up to get people to love him more. Which begs the question if any of his other threads were fake/exaggerated, probably.

I'm friends with him on Facebook still, seems like a nice guy who went a little overboard on getting people to like him. Not sure if he scammed anyone for monies.

Thanks for the reply eckenz, I thought he was a classic dude just from lurking on here, lived vicariously through a few of his adventures on here. Weird for him to make that up??? lol anyway, loved this thread, remember that night you had the roll on table, was following as it happened over here in Australia. Never been to Vegas, but it's definately on the bucket list and I'll be sure to have a Grey Goose in your honor.

This is the gist of it. I think he also hit up some of the LVL forum regs for smallish amounts (500-1000) under the guise of "my ID and cc are lost and Im in vegas oh noes". Not sure if everyone was paid back.

I distinctly remember Katana trying to get him to come clean about all the bs and harblowlaw still denied it. If you are able to rub katana the wrong way to the point that he washes his hands of you, then you've got issues. Katana is one of if not the most reasonable/standup poster here.

Semi-related, I'm fairly certain that harborlaw is posting under the account degenlaw in the Degen Stories thread in bbv.

This. I was suckered into his ruse enough to defend him in the past and have since learned the error of my ways. I will say though that it is my understanding everyone was paid back from that trip. I very nearly lent him a sum in that range and he actually chose to decline as he didn't need it as we had one day left. He definitely has some serious issues with integrity, but I don't think stealing money was a priority of his. He had two distinct opportunities with me and didn't take either.

I'm looking forward to looking that name up and reading his posts!

Also semi related, a while back he posted a picture on FB of 315 lbs on a squat rack saying he was squatting. Seeing his less than impressive physical prowess in person, Katana and I snap commented there is no chance you can squat 315, and if you can in anyway, it will be far from a full rep. Some **** talking ensued, and eventually a bet was placed between Katana and him for $100 IIRC. He later posted the video, and proceeded to show us 3 1/5 rep squats literally making every mistake in the book. Some more **** talking ensued after we told him how bad they were and how Katana clearly won the bet (there was stipulation that the reps had to be full reps..at least to parallel... or Katana won). He proceeded to immediately defriend us both on FB and as I understand it never paid Katana his 100. I texted him some articles on proper squat form and wished him luck. Fun times.

I don't think harborlaw was looking to scam people etc. My read on the situation it's that he got caught up in all the attention. I think there was also a schizophrenic/ mental undertone for sure.
