For all those saying things like “I don’t smoke & most people don’t smoke these days, so I don’t understand why casinos wouldn’t want to cater to us nonsmokers” I will try to explain it to you.
Casinos make most of their gambling revenue off of degenerates. Some gambling degenerates are only addicted to gambling, but most are also addicted to drinking, smoking, etc.
If you want casinos to ban smoking then you will need to get the nonsmoking community to start gambling their life savings away in casinos and then the casinos will start listening to them. Until then there is just no chance because the casinos are not going to chase away their best customers.

Take this with a grain of salt, since rumors and speculation don’t always pan out.

Ask The Revel in Atlantic City how this works out.

The above certainly doesn't ring true in areas where smoking is not allowed. Massachusetts and some casinos in upstate NY do not allow smoking and they are very busy. The smokers simply go outside to a designated area.

Personally, I vote with my feet. When I have a choice of smoking vs non-smoking, I go with the later.

I hope the Park MGM rumor is true. That place was quickly becoming my favorite spot to stay on the strip, and because of the way it's designed from the old Monte Carlo bones, smoke REALLY hangs around in there. This decision would put that place over the top for me.

That is because of state laws. If it were up to the casinos they would allow smoking and you would have to vote with your feet like you said and the casinos would continue to not care one bit about you voting with your feet.

Yup in MD all the casinos are non smoking due to state law and it’s great (there are outdoor smoking areas with heat lamps and MD Live even has an outdoor gaming patio with smoking but the actual casino floor is non smoking). But like you said if states allowed it I’m sure most casinos would probably have it. You don’t want to interrupt the gambling cycle by forcing people to go outside and have a chance to rethink their decision to torch money at table games or calm down. I have heard that Charles Town in West VA has some huge high rollers at table games who travel further to get there just so they can smoke and play blackjack.

I would think a higher-end resort could go smoke free and become more popular, there are a ton of people with money that want a smoke-free option.

They Wynn could make Encore smoke-free for example to test it out, I would think their entire resort could go smoke free and increase business. MGM or Caesars could also try it with one of their properties, and revert quickly if needed.

This isn't 1991 anymore.
