For poker players living in their cars in Vegas, you would be able to get comped rooms at CET properties mid week (Sun-Thurs) to supplement the nights in the car as long as it is not holidays or major conventions happening in the city.

On the other hand, I'm sure the market is a bit more expensive now, but you could have rented a furnished room pre-covid for like $350-$550 a month that includes all utilities, shared bathroom, and use of the kitchen to save money on food. If you were really trying to save money, you can get on the bottom end of that range and even with roommates, having a bed and shower everyday and air conditioning in the summer is worth paying less than $15 a night.

Or at least get a room like that for the summer months to escape the heat.

Maybe. If you only play poker can you get comped rooms? Even if you could, you still have resort fees of about $45 a night.

If you play poker full time you can easily hit diamond and avoid the resort fees and you will get a TON of comped rooms mid week. The nights that aren't comped will be around and under $10 a night (again, midweek) which is still a great deal for a hotel room even at their sh*ttier properties.

If you are starting out, you can get their credit card or do Founder's Card for the first year till you hit diamond to help avoid resort credits and it will even give you $100 towards a nice meal at one of their fancier restaurants.

But seriously, renting a room in someone's house is really the easy way to go to live cheaply.

Mandalay Bay spa? That day pass thing? Those posts were hilarious!

I never tried it myself but have spent hundreds of hours just relaxing at the CET spas when it was part of the diamond perks. I now have a eucalyptus spray that I use in my shower because I got used to the smell at those spas.

If a decision to live mobile in Vegas is a given, then having a Prius (for daily commutes and summer dwelling) and a super cheap ($1,500 or less) cargo van (for fall, winter, and spring) would probably be optimal. The cheap cargo van can also be used as a storage unit.

I would think that you'd spend a lot of money trying to earn comped rooms or Diamond, and even worse, spend all your time at one casino chain.

In Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bill famously used one for social purposes, to meet chicks:

Matt Berkey discusses the stresses and difficulties of living in a van.

As you can see, living in a vehicle is not as glamourous as people make it out to be.

Unless they have changed again, the Caesars credit card doesn't exempt you from resort fees. Several years ago it did, so I got the card, then within a year they took away that benefit, before I even got a chance to use it.

As long as your name isn't Matt, a van should be fine.
