House edge is actually slightly higher when you play lower odds, because you are wagering a greater proportion of the money you bet at -EV instead of 0EV. I can go into more detail but this should be pretty intuitive.

Of course, the utility of playing longer, getting more drinks, having more fun, etc. may very well be more important than maximizing EV.

but then you switch your terminology to EV, which should never be a percentage. EV should only ever be expressed as dollars/chips/etc.

Upon further reflection, I see you are right, but you do not need to be sarcastic about it. Still, it intuitively seems to me there must be a benefit to reducing the overall house edge, even if there is no impact on EV.

Only if you want to be betting more money.

If your perfectly happy with the fun of betting only $10 on the pass line, then you really gain (or lose) nothing from betting the odds. However if you would rather be betting $20-$60 per roll then you should be using the odds to do so as its free.
