BEST POLITICS THREAD ON 2+2 - #Augie2020 - "The Augie Angle"

WELCOME TO THE BEST POLITICS THREAD ON 2+2

If you don't like politics, you should not read this thread.

This is your trigger warning! Go away now! Get out of here! Go on now, git!

Why is there politics in the Las Vegas forum?

Because I want to! I like to talk about politics, and I'm banned from the politics forum!

I will debate anyone, but I would especially like to debate supporters of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, or as I like to call her: "The Hot Donald Trump of the Communist Party"

Thank you and enjoy!

New Green New Deal News

Here's a story the SJW Chat Club has neglected to discuss:

Labor Opposition to Green New Deal Could be a Big Obstacle

I knew the Green New Deal was an absolute joke the day it came out, but just recently the AFL-CIO has come out against the Green New Deal, calling it "not achievable or realistic".

AOC has no response.

Of course she doesn't. What could she say? She can't just call the labor unions bigots or climate change deniers, which is her typical line of attack when someone points out the idiocy of her proposals.

It's an absolutely humiliating blow for AOC and the GND. How does she expect to move forward without the support of labor unions? I guess the same way she has so far: blindly and stupidly!

The Senate will Vote on the GND:

Democrats seek to evade GOP trap on Green New Deal vote

Re: BEST POLITICS THREAD ON 2+2 - #Augie2020 - "The Augie Angle"

augiie, you are not alone, I too love politics. I have never actually been a politician, so I hope you don't think me a hypocrite.

So, even though I'm from the opposite political spectrum, I none the less feel a kinship of brotherhood with you. You see, I myself, although not officially banned from the politics forum, was none the less cast out as an undesirable and ostracized, merely because, among other reasons, for attempting to make the argument to my liberal brethren, that I didn't think that free education for all was necessarily the greatest invention since poker chips. They even questioned my true politics.
I bet none of them campaigned in New Hampshire for Hillary!
How could one not support her? Look at the alternative.
And besides that, how could a true poker player not melt after hearing her say those heartwarming words of hers, "deal me in."

So I'm appreciative of you providing a home for me.

But, enough of the pleasantries. I will most gladly and most eagerly debate AOC's qualifications over Trump with you.
Alexandria is first of all, much better to look at, and she doesn't sound like she's snorting a white powder when she's talking.
Secondly, she's a wicked hot dancer, much more so than Trump.
She also doesn't have as big an arse as Trump.
Should I go on?

Oh, for those close minded simpletons who'll try to argue with you that this thread doesn't belong here, just remind them who built Vegas.
The politicians!

This is the first thing I'll debate with you, that she's hot. Buck teeth that could chew down a forest, and those crazy eyes. Wouldn't be surprised if she has a dozen feet in her freezer.

Unless this is just a troll to get us banned, in which case -- jus kiddin.

Trump supporters are morons. Debating one would be like debating a true idiot...there's really no point. We just feel sorry for you and wish you wouldn't vote.

Re: BEST POLITICS THREAD ON 2+2 - #Augie2020 - "The Augie Angle"

Just the home for this.

Site moderators quite analytical
Might find the next limerick political
Defense bona fides
I’m taking no sides
So please don’t be overly critical

No partisan posture intended
The following stuff recommended
To see how it is
Does not take a “wiz”
Consider what has been extended

It matters not who’s at the top
If wrongheaded actions don’t stop
The man at the wheel
Must have made a deal
The Swamp seems immune from his mop

Selections for lines three and four
Feel welcome to add in some more…

“I said in my book
That I’m not a crook”

“I hereby desire to assert
Your taxes by gosh ought to hurt”

“No WMD?
Don’t matter to me”

“The meaning of “is”
What’s this, a pop quiz?

(Omitting, to please
“J”, “I”, and two “Z’s”)

Now don’t have a cow
“What matters it now?”

The little guy’s always out-flopped
Certificates get photo-shopped

Uranium One
Still has all the fun

From Monday to Sunday
No one thinks of Bundy

Warmonger John Bolton
Still acts quite revoltin’

They rattle their sabers
And bomb lots of neighbors

La Casa Maduro
Ya esta seguro

Real people want peace
Feds wants it the least

They still lack the gall
To put up a wall

They won’t let reporters
Look on at the borders

The budget’s a laugh
They spend more by half

While planes are a-fallin’
The lobbyists keep callin’

With Boeing in play
What good’s TSA?

Alarmists get bolder
While Earth gets still colder

Trumps haters’ tradition
Still includes sedition

With cash don’t drive far
The police take your car

Car dealers now flaunt
New cars we don’t want

Some burst into fires
Some stop moving tires

Perhaps the Republic is dead
Since bills still get passed that aren’t read

Take two lines with sarcasm clear
When end of the second is near
Add two from above
They’ll fit like a glove

(And if they don’t fit
You have to acquit)

A passable limerick you’ll hear

Social Security 2100

Social Security Act 2100
Quote:
What exactly does the Social Security 2100 Act entail? Let's take a closer look at its seven key action points.

An increase in the primary insurance amount (PIA) formula factor to 93% from 90% beginning in 2020: Increasing the PIA formula amount would have a small but positive upward impact on what seniors are paid from the program.

Switch COLA calculation to CPI-E from CPI-W: The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) has been the program's inflationary tether since 1975. But since it tracks the spending habits of working-age urban and clerical workers, rather than seniors who represent a majority of beneficiaries, it results in the underweighting of important spending categories for seniors, such as medical care and housing -- and therefore, a lower cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). The Consumer Price Index for the Elderly (CPI-E) adjusts this by tethering COLA increases to the spending habits of households with seniors aged 62 and up.

Increase the special minimum PIA for newly eligible retired or disabled workers beginning in 2020: Providing a special minimum primary insurance amount is a fancy way of saying that minimum benefits paid out by the program would be increased. The current minimum benefit pays out well below the poverty level, so this is a direct attempt to reduce elderly and disabled poverty rates.

Adjust the taxation of Social Security benefit thresholds beginning in 2020: The taxation of Social Security benefits was introduced in 1983 and expanded in 1993. It allows up to 50% of benefits to be taxed for a single taxpayer whose adjusted gross income (AGI) plus one-half of benefits exceeds $25,000 (or $32,000 for a couple filing jointly). Up to 85% of benefits become taxable when AGI plus one-half of benefits tops $34,000 for a single filer or $44,000 for a couple filing jointly. These income thresholds have never been adjusted for inflation. The Social Security 2100 Act would increase this threshold and create a single taxation point of up to 85% for single filers and joint filers above $50,000 and $100,000, respectively.

Reinstitute the payroll tax on earned income above $400,000: Currently, all earned income between $0.01 and $132,900 is subject to Social Security's 12.4% payroll tax, with any earned income above $132,900 exempt from the payroll tax. Larson's proposal aims to create a moratorium on taxation between $132,900 and $400,000, with the 12.4% payroll tax once again reinstituted on earned income above $400,000. Over time, this moratorium figure would shrink and eventually disappear, since the current cap of $132,900 increases in-step with the National Average Wage Index each year (as long as COLA is a positive number).

Gradually increase the payroll tax for all workers to 14.8%: Over the next 24 years, the Social Security Act would increase the payroll tax by 0.1% per year, pushing it from 12.4% to 14.8%. Keep in mind that only the self-employed pay the full payroll tax rate. If you're employed by someone else, your employer covers half of your liability. This would mean a 0.05% increase per year, or a 1.2% aggregate increase over 24 years for most workers.

Combine the OASI and DI Trusts into one fund: Lastly, and mostly for simplicity, the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust (OASI) and Disability Insurance Trust (DI) would be combined into a single trust, the OASDI.
First of all this is a Democrat sponsored bill that has a lot of support among Democrats in Congress. I think it has a decent shot to make through the House.

Second, there was a thread in the P forum that basically promoted generational hatred that a few politards endorsed. It also stated things about SS that weren’t actually true. Anyway not going to rehash that thread. Given that this bill
— is a Democrat sponsored bill with a lot of Democrat support

— that it is a substantial windfall for baby boomers

—that is certainly opposed by Republicans and TRUMP

are you for it or against it?
Quote:
A workable solution with one key problem
On the surface, the Social Security Act does everything you'd want to see a proposal do. It ensures that benefits aren't cut for current or future retirees, expands benefits for those at the lowest rung of the income ladder, and helps to simplify the program. With more than 200 co-sponsors of the bill in the House, only 218 votes needed for passage, and Rep. Larson set to become chairman of the Ways and Means subcommittee on Social Security, passage of the Social Security 2100 Act in the House appears quite possible.

But there's just one problem: A bill needs to pass both houses of Congress and affix a president's signature (in most cases) to become law.

The Senate is still under control of the Republican Party, which frankly views a solution to Social Security's imminent cash crunch differently. Rather than increasing or amending the payroll tax cap, the GOP prefers gradually raising the full retirement age to account for increased longevity.

....

your full retirement age is the age at which you become eligible to receive your full monthly payout, as determined by your birth year. Currently set to peak at age 67 for those born in 1960 or later, Republicans have proposed gradually increasing this to as high as age 70. This would require future generations of workers to wait longer to receive their full benefit or to accept a steeper monthly payout reduction by claiming earlier. Either way, it reduces lifetime benefit payouts, thereby saving the program money.

.....

To boot, President Trump would be averse to signing legislation that makes direct changes to Social Security. Trump has opined that implementing direct changes to Social Security is akin to political suicide, without using those exact words. Rather, the president is leaning on his hallmark Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to create jobs, grow wages, and generate more in the way of payroll tax revenue. In essence, Trump favors indirect fixes to Social Security.

Did you know basically every policy AOC is advocating for is completely standard in every western democracy and has been for a really long time? And once enacted even the conservatives loved it! The only places that don't have them are extremely poor countries and authoritarian regimes and the USA!

And those western democracies have a healthier, more educated, and happy society!

Crazy stuff man.

and here is exhibit A for why the media is so putrid.

one of the biggest allies for the left, the AFL-CIO, recently referred to the Green New Deal as "not achievable or realistic". but yes, she's just fighting for what's "completely standard in every western democracy".

wake up!

Crazy Ideas from the GND:

- 100% renewable energy
- decommission all nuclear power plants
- economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work
- get rid of all cars and airplanes
- slaughter all the "farting cows"

please, tell list the western democracies who are embracing these "completely standard" policies.

do you remember when the GND contained a the provision "economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work"?

you might not remember it, because AOC was humiliated into deleting her website on the first day and pretending that the provision was never there. and the media helped her bury it, calling it a "rough draft".

what an absolute joke. AOC is a communist and makes no attempt to hide it. she's more radical than Bernie Sanders with a prettier face.

"economic security for those unwilling to work" is not the only joke in the GND, though.

here's one fact about global warming that AOC will never let you in on: even if America went carbon neutral TODAY it would not stop global warming. why is that? because America isn't even close to the biggest polluter.

China pollutes more than America and the EU combined and they haven't promised to slow down until 2030.

combine all this data with AOC's insane fear-mongering (we're all gonna die in 12 years), she is just one of the worst politicians the world has ever seen.

I would like to propose that we get this thread back on track before it derails.
First off, we have to form a new visionary 2+2 political party.
2nd, we have to convince Oscar Goodman to join us and run for president. And augie as vise of course!

the Goodmans are my kind of politicians. sit in your office, smoke cigars, and leave the people alone.

when some rich guy blesses your city by opening a business there, you show up with giant scissors and cut the tape.

don't chase him to another city with ridiculous demands.

Yeah, I don't live in Vegas, but from what I know about them, they seem like the type of politicians that transcend party lines.

I really like them.
