Thought id just use this thread to ask more questions regarding poker and vegas.

Ive wired money for the monster stack Day 1B, and it says i have to show up to sign in at fastrac, how early should i arrive if i want to play from start?

And roadtrip from Vegas to Red rock/Grand Canyon, which one is best?

Red Rock isn’t exactly a road trip. It’s nice if you’re more interested in staying near town, but it’s not comparable to the Grand Canyon at all.

I presume that means you're already registered? I'd think the lines to pre-reg to just confirm details will be shorter than registration.

I'm sure there are plenty who will be able to give a better suggestion than my initial one.

Unless you were flying in THAT day and arriving just a few hours before your event, you can go to the FasTrac counter anytime and have next to no wait. There have typically been plenty of times, even during the mega-events, where there was next to no line at some point during the day or night.

Red Rock is practically in the city limits, it'll take you like half an hour to get there. Grand Canyon is several hours just to the closest point. In other words, one is an outing and the other is more or less a vacation of its own.

A $5,000 No Limit buy in was BIG news back in 1996!

Fitzgeralds tiny poker room upstairs (near where the Sigma Derby is now) was where I had my first ever Royal..QdTd, and turned the ultimate nuts..

I’ve always wondered where the Four Queens room was located in the facility...that casino is so small.

Rooms are that cheap, I'd just pay for them, and spend my time doing what I want to do

I figured getting comped would be easier since they are already cheap.

It'll be easier than getting comped at the Bellagio, but I'd think there is a fair bit of coin in, to get your stay comped.

My mother plays for an average of 8hrs a day, to get their room comped at the GN.

Is there a grocery store close to four queens where I can buy fruit, nuts and water etc?

And are there any policy's that one have to stay in the room during the whole stay because I have 23 nights at The D and 6 of them will be spent in California. Also do the rooms at The D have a refrigerator?

Planning on playing mainly at GN for the first 7 days, those uncapped NL 1/2 seems nice. Any inside tips for the casino, food, comps etc

There is a Walgreens just a little down from the Four Queens.

6 nights consecutively, or over the trip? I can't see it's a problem, but can't be sure either way.

I stayed in a premium corner king, and that had a small refrigerator.

Chart House & Grotto have a happy hour menu, which I think you can use comps for. Not sure exactly how much the comps are, but would guess @ $1 or $2 an hour.

There are plenty of cheap options to eat on Fremont, if nothing inside really takes your fancy.

I agree about consolidated action. I'd rather be able to look around from my table at other tables to evaluate and not lose my seat in a bigger room than to have to actually go to a few other small rooms to evaluate tables and possibly not even want to sit in those games.

I heard Binions was just a bunch of rocks and the Golden Nugget is still a vibrant room.

What is the best casino for degen games, craps, bacaratt, 21 etc? Are all downtowns the same?

They’re all pretty much the same downtown. Golden Nugget has the nicest atmosphere (it’s about a B or B+ by strip standards), but gambling-wise you won’t find any major differences.

I find certain downtown casinos to be a lot livelier than the strip - YMMV. Limits obviously lower as well.

Thanks for the replies! I think the downtown will fit us better and the lower minimum bet is nice, does the odds differ alot? Playing mainly craps, VP, three card poker and baccarat.

If you have the cash to take advantage, Main Street Station has 20x odds at craps. Many other downtown casinos have 10x.

For video poker, best place to check for good pay tables is vpfree2.com.

There's a Chicago-style Pizza and micro-brewery in Four Queens that is quite yummy. On the bridge between the Cal and Main Street Station, there is a good Hawaiian BBQ joint, and in Main Street Station there is a Micro-brewery/sports bar that has really good bar food.
