Octavius is pretty far away from everything except for the pool, which is a plus or minus depending on your preferences. But not even close to the MGM Grand kind of far away where you wish you had a bike to get from your room to the Strip.

Fun fact: I have Vegas pool-view paranoia ever since my first WSOP summer when I stayed 3 weeks at the Imperial Palace. At exactly noon they cranked up the music and it felt like I was in my bed and the middle of a pool party at the same time.

Yes, Caesars is big. In the 80's they ran Formula 1 races on the property. It's big enough to put a racetrack on.

I've recently stayed in both the Flamingo and Harrah's newly renovated rooms and they were very nice for the price. The LInq also has nice rooms too. But if you're getting comped, I'd go with the Charlemagne Suite at Paris or Nobu at Caesars Palace.

When i used to be a visitor to Vegas, I always like the Rio suites. Nothing fancy but the price was usually pretty good.

I am not sure if I would prefer a really nice room at the Rio over a relatively bad one on the Strip. Everything about the Rio is just sad and I don’t see a single reason to ever step foot in there outside of the WSOP.

Plus if you think the walk from Octavius to the Strip is bad, the walk from Rio to Strip is worse.

You know, I had completely forgotten about that. Gonna dig up the old course map now. Thanks for posting this!

I was there for both of them. It was fantastic. If you had good seats you could watch a car go around the entire course.

Trivia for F1 fans: F1 races used to be run without any pit stops. I think the first Vegas race was the last of the season. It was hot (no kidding) during the race and tires started to go off. I think someone had a puncture and had to come in for new tires. When he went back out he was running substantially faster than everyone else. I said to my friends "If so-and-so pitted for new tires he could more than make up the time". It was obvious enough, that someone decided to do that. And thus, the next season began the era of pit stops in F1.

Was big enough at least...before they added additional buildings where the course had been laid out. Interesting course design though...at least before the CART revisions.

I love the Cromwell rooms. Hip and funky. Definitely my favorite CET rooms but there are negatives:

Can be noisy due to the rooftop club.
Rooms aren't that big.
Terrible view (at least in the rooms I've been in and a large percentage of the rooms there).

Julius (formally Roman) and Forum are the smallest rooms at CP, about 350 sq ft. therefore most can only have one king bed. Both are convenient to the poker room and getting out of the property.

I mentioned the resort room at PH or their regular rooms all newly renovated within past couple years. Good location for Bellagio and Aria poker, easy strip access, lower pricing at places like Starbucks and Earl (about 25% lower than CP)and refrigerator in all rooms. Only a pain if you have a car and are not diamond or ss.

We arrive Friday and I think we are in the Forum Tower. Will the $20 trick do anything for me?

Lol, nice eye. I didn’t catch that. Barbary Coast was the best — it had a really cool sign at least. Best Caesars property hotel rooms?

At Caesars, it’s probably the $50 or $100 trick..

Platinum also gets free valet/parking.

But most weekends at CP and PH they close valet to only diamond and ss because they are “full”.

Agree, airport Starbucks are cheaper than CP ones. That's the trend for CP though- everything there is overpriced even by Vegas standards.

Nice... I'll be there Friday so I guess I'll give the $20 trick a shot. Don't mind throwing away $20 but not $50 or $100.

$20 trick still works just fine, depending on what you need. I recently had an early flight out to Vegas and was on the property by around 10am figuring I'd just nap in the SportsBook or just play poker til check-in which is usually no earlier than 2pm at best even though they always say 4pm. They had my usual room in the Augustus tower (still my favorite) ready by 11am just by using the $20 trick and being nice!

Update if anyone interested: Stayed at Bally's. $20 trick got me updated to a junior suite, room was large, bed was comfortable, everything was very clean/new. Location is obviously one of the best in Vegas. Would highly recommend.

I think you saved $5 off of their bull**** early check in fee...but at least the money went to the employee instead of CET.

I'm a big fan of TI, but they offer the early check in for (I think) $40 - Over half a dozen trips the last two years, our room has always been ready and keys issued at 11:30a or so.
