"Served" in a buffet means thrown in a warming tray.

I was going to use my $100 Diamond credit on the Sterling brunch buffet, but I don't like brunch, don't like seafood, and don't like champagne. Other than that it seems like the best buffet in town.

Always been a huge fan. It was my #1 spot to hit in Vegas. However, the last time I went in June it was not as good and I actually got sick from the crab legs (me and my friend).

Nevermind getting sick afterward, I don't think the food is as good as it was 1-2 years ago. Slightly went downhill. Other people feel/experience the same?

Here's what I mean. Before Bachannal opened, the original Palms buffet was 13 bucks for lunch. You got steak, beef ribs carved, salmon carved, oxtail stew and a good Mediterainean section with humus, babaganush, grape leaves, and tabuli. Suddenly, it was all gone. All they had was chipped beef and the top carving was a rotisserie chicken.

Before Bachannal, the Main Street Station had oxtail during lunch. After the Bachannal opened, the highlight became fried chicken and broccoli with cheese.

There have been noticeable drops in quality for Planet Hollywood, Paris, M, and Red Rock.

I think what happened is that Bachannal charged 5 times more than the Palms yet was no more than 2 times better. So from the point of view of the Palms it wouldn't make sense to be half as good yet only be charging a fifth as much. Hence, it made sense to drop the quality (no steaks, no beef ribs, no oxtail stew for lunch) in order to adjust itself to Bachannal's range.

The other buffets followed suit.

Style over substance is what the Bachannal is all about. Their meat carving station is no big deal with stuff that can be found in other places: sausages, ribs, chicken, etc. Their taco station attracts a lot of tourists but locals no it does not stand a chance against the one in Texas Station. The pig's head with all that crunchy skin and meat around it is cheap stuff in Chinatown and Filipino restaurants. Great presentation with the pig's head. The shrimp and crabs legs is not big deal but they do have great presentation near the entrance with stuff that's for display only.

The other casinos have learned. The new Palace Station and the Orleans are two buffets that have style over substance. At the Palace Station, bad fish but great presentation with the lemons on top. At the Orleans, canceled beef ribs during lunch but great presentation with the tacos. And a great presentation pho soup area with the bare cheap materials. Great presentation just like Bachannal.

In short, Las Vegas is no longer the buffet capital. Bachannal is the reason with their great presentation, high price, and no big deal quality. The other buffets have had to adjust to match the quality to price ratio. They lowered the former and increased the latter while covering it up with much better presentation.
Interesting perspective. I think this is the spirit of Vegas right here. The city is based on a hustle (not hating I love Vegas). It is all about style over substance. Distract people with bright lights, shows, and some titties and then separate them from their money at BJ and everywhere else. Same old recipe since inception.

I did a review of the Wynn dinner buffet. I used the DJI osmo gimble for most of the video. I need to slow down so the food porn isn't as blurry in the future.

My current Top 3:

Best overall buffet - The Wicked Spoon - Cosmopolitan
Best breakfast buffet - Bacchanal - Caesar's Palace
Best value buffet - A.Y.C.E. - Palms

On the flip side..

Most overpriced buffet, for the quality - Cravings - Mirage
Most inconsistent buffet - The Orleans (new) buffet
Formerly good buffets that are now terrible - (Tie) Rio Carnival buffet and Main Street Station..

I like the Mirage buffet, of course only if using comps.

I have enough comps left to almost cover wicked spoon, I will have to try that sometime soon.

Also never tried the Palms buffet, I have a ton of comps at stations and get half off buffet also, so I need to try that for sure.

a lot of the all you can drink additions, are they any good? is it mostly mixer or slow service or is it actually worth it? seems strange to have the option that is the price of maybe 2 drinks.

and compared to the prices online, what could you expect out the door at some of these for 2 people + drinks? wicked spoon under 150? bacchanal 200?

Wicked Spoon is only $28 for brunch all day every weekday I believe. Why would you want to drink a bunch when you are filling up on food. Either drink or eat. lol

All you can drink at a Vegas buffet sounds like an expensive way to make myself sick. If I want all I can drink I can just sit at a video poker bar...or a poker table.

well thats why i was wondering on the speediness of refills and such. mimosas in the flutes are basically a decent sip or two. obv not planning on crushing bloody marys, but if its ~20 for AYCD vs $8 each or w.e... but also if the alcohol to mixer is so low that you are just drinking juice or not then it would change things.

i get eating vs drinking but since its not an every day thing, some of both cant hurt. just wouldnt want to waste $20 instead of just getting beer or a bottle from the end of the strip afterwards.

I hit the Palms Buffet for the 1st time today for end of Breakfast/Beginning Lunch.

The coffee is the same horrible coffee that all stations buffets serve, the only other worse I have had was Excal poker room.

I like the small waffle that comes in the bowl to contain the syrup, but it was bananas foster which I would have preferred without that but still good.

The pancakes where super dry, the french toast and eggs and sausage was average, there were several other things like breakfast quesadillas, etc that were ok.

I didn't try too much from lunch but the French onion slider burgers were really good.
The desert was pretty good, the cookies good and the oreo cup and black forest cup were really good.

Also liked the music playing in the casino and buffet.

Overall very good value, especially for me as I get half off with my points, so only $4.50 of my comps. I think that will be a weekly thing for me, to go there, put my football contest picks in and go across the street and put contest picks in at coast.

Actually there was an omelette station, the line wasn't very long either, for some reason I just skipped it, I will try it next time. The bacon wasn't bad either. They had a bunch of bowls of like eggs benedict and other things too.

Not as much love here for the Aria as I expected. Was there last month and was surprised with the quality vs the other similarly priced (Wynn, Cosmo, Bellagio) competitors. The made-to-order poke bowl is a great touch, and for somebody who works in an office and often has to wait 40 minutes for decent lunch options, the wait was less than 5 minutes and the options were all very fresh. Also, they serve some kind of strawberry/watermelon/mint juice in individual shot glasses (think like mini-Ball jars) that really make you evaluate how you treat your liver.

It was probably the best tasting beverage I've ever encountered.

Glad you liked it, overall.

I was there right after it opened for dinner during the WSOP.

I was impressed by the quality and quantity of items..and you can't beat the price compared to most of the other buffets around town..

I love the Aria buffet too. It is a smaller buffet than people would expect so maybe that’s a reason people don’t always love it. People seem to either love it or hate it from what I’ve seen.

I haven't had the aria buffet in over a year but it was always just super bland tasting
Not horrible but way worse than expected in a casino of that caliber

Had the Gold Coast buffet several times during WSOP. Not very good. Only saving grace is that it's cheap. I was staying in the hotel, so it made practical sense for me to just drop the $15 and load up on pasta, veggies, etc. If you stick to basic stuff like noodles, bread, fruit, and vegetables then it's fine. If you want better food quality at the GC then you're better off just going to Ping Pang Pong.

I had the MGM dinner buffet a few days ago. Was about $35 after tax.

Food quality was passable. Fresh cuts of turkey, prime rib, and brisket right on the spot. The turkey was solid. A few rows of ethnically-focused stations. Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and maybe some seafood options (I don't generally eat sea food). A lot of people had big plates of what looked like crab legs. There was also a build-your-own pho station.

Quality was higher than Gold Coast, but definitely not gourmet. I tried to gorge myself to compensate. Again, if you stick to stuff like noodles, pasta, potatoes, and veggies then it's fine. Their meat wasn't too bad for the most part, though the Mongolian beef was tough and the Kung Pao was a little underwhelming. The carved meats are the way to go.

One of the better perks is the all-you-can-drink wine and beer, but the beer selection was limited to Coors and Bud Light. I didn't have any wine, but it just looked like your typical cheap wine.

Both the GC and the MGM suffer in the desserts department. Lots of pastries that are most likely frozen/processed. The flan at GC was okay, but not great. They have soft serve "ice cream" that melts into puddles of goo pretty quickly. It tastes fine, but again, I don't think it's even real ice cream.

All in all, I'd give the MGM buffet something like a 6.5/10. Quality is just passable and the price isn't fantastic, but if you want to get smashed on cheap beer/wine and gorge yourself then it's probably a reasonable option.

I second Boski's review on Bayside. Went there in June for a lunch buffet, which was also comped via MyVegas. Wasn't impressed - i mean it certainly wasn't _bad_, just meh. Nothing stood out whatsoever. If I had to pay full price for that I'd be pretty disappointed.

Once went to that buffet once 4 years ago for dinner and I hated it. And it’s more expensive than the M Resort buffet.
