Anyone have any info on the Bell robbery?
Poker cage was supposedly robbed.

Actor James Wood was apparently inside the Bellagio during the robbery and gave a first-hand account of it on Twitter.

“So we are playing poker at the @BellagioPoker and a guy walks up with a gun and robs the cage thirty feet from us ten minutes ago,” he tweeted. “@Bellagio staff were fantastic. They surrendered the money quietly, so no customers would get hurt. Nobody even realized it was happening. Excellent staff, cool under pressure.”

Maybe a vlogger did it and we’re going to see it in the next episode (which would be followed by an arrest in the episode after that).

Strange place to rob though. Wonder if it’s someone that plays there. The Bellagio bandit did.

Also this person picked a Tuesday afternoon (dead time in poker rooms) right after the holidays and before the cowboys come into town.

It's that easy to rob a casino and get out of there?

They don’t want security shooting it out with people in the casinos so yeah. They try to avoid escalating things and hope to catch the person later. The last thing they want is more violence and more lawsuits after what happened recently.

They have you on a zillion cameras. No need to have an eight figure liability lawsuit from a shootout.

All MGM needs is another shooting/shootout lawsuit... Actually this would probably be the best time to try and rob MGM properties

Everyone knows about the cameras, so the guy on camera won't much look like the real thief.

The guy that robbed the cashier cage at the Bellagio should have walked south 10 yards and took our money in Bobby's Room. He got 35k and we had about 200k in cash waiting to put it on deposit. Waitress said she could have hit the guy as he slowly left.

They got the license plate of the car he drove off in, I would assume it was stolen but you never know how desperate he was so it might not of been planned out well either.

The news story said they already recovered the car.

From the article:

Quote:
The suspect is described as a White man, 30 to 40-years-of-age, 5'7" to 5'9" tall, and weighs about 160 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a blue T-shirt, blue jeans, a black beanie cap, black-rimmed glasses, a blonde wig and a white covering on his face.

Yes and no.

Yes, if you go up to a cashier (or teller at a bank) and say you have a gun (you don't have to show it) and for them to give you the money. They'll do it and won't try to stop you. You can even make it out of the place, just as long as stopping you won't cause "collateral damage", as it were. The overriding principle is that the money is replaceable but you aren't. (If you saw the videos of the Biker Bandit, the people at the craps table did absolutely nothing to stop him from taking the chips.) But there is basically zero chance that you'll get away with it. Especially in a casino where every square centimeter is covered by three cameras.

Yes sir... the Bell cage is right by an exit,, I always thought it was a potential robbery property because of that.

Unless this guy is already in Mexico, and even then he is not scot free, he will be caught. Over/under for how long? Five days.

It took 2 months to catch the last guy who robbed the Bellagio and the guy who robbed the RIO has never been caught. So 5 days is WAY UNDER what it'll take and there's a legit shot that as long as he isn't an idiot that he'll get away with it. Rumor has it he only got $35000 so I would imagine he doesn't have to worry about those pesky $25k chips that got the last guy busted

It's especially easy to get away when the security staff is taught to not shoot at people. The money is insured, if security engages with a suspect and it becomes a shootout the hotel will get sued for a lot more than whatever money he took. They let him go now and then use surveillance to try and track him down

So if I say I have a gun and give me the money, but I don't actually have a gun, is it still armed robbery?
Bellagio Robbed Quote

Yeapers... even a note saying you have a gun is considered armed robbery if I am not mistaken

Your word against the cashier's, just say it quietly and don't write any notes.

You has a plan afoot?

The poker cage at Bellagio is not right by an exit, and I have seen no cashiers there that are right by an exit. I still don't understand how he could have driven away either, unless they deliberately chose to let him go. Seems like they could have just blocked the parking lot exit. I have been to the Bellagio at least 100 times, some in self parking and some in valet, and have never been able to drive away quickly.

I played there at least a 1000 times, and it's the closest cage to an exit there is... at that property.
You're probably assuming he went out the front.
