Bachelor Party

One of my best dude's is getting married next fall so we are planning a trip to vegas (he's never been) We are thinking end of April, b/c I think w/ WSOP June-August demand would be high.

Likely will be 15+ guys attending. 2 nights and then red eye for the trip home

My questions -

1. Any recommended accommodations? Looking more towards suite large capacity than individual hotel rooms here.

2. We won't be doing shows, expensive dinners, planned nights out, etc. Days/nights will likely just sports booking, pit games, maybe drunk ssnl poker late night.

3. I will be going out prior to play some msnl games. Any recommendations on limo service to pick the bulk of the guys up from the airport?

Thanks guys!

Re: Bachelor Party

The wsop is not a major driver of vegas traffic so I wouldn't not come during summer just because of that. Holiday weekends and big events will have a much bigger impact on how busy it is.

Most suites in Vegas still only have one or two beds. They aren't meant for groups of friends. There are some 2/3 bedroom suites but you definitely won't be saving money compared to buying separate rooms. Venetian/palazzo have rooms with 2 queens and a pull out bed with some couch space if you want to economically pile a lot of dudes into one room.

Re: Bachelor Party

Yeah, but you can get 2 rooms in a lot of hotels for the cost of 1 Venetian room and have 4 beds instead of 3. The only "suites" where you can cram in a lot of people are the bungalow or villa types that have 2 or 3 bedrooms and cost 5 grand+ a night.

I don't know about everyone else's friends but my friends and I typically got along just fine with n/2 beds because less than half of us were sleeping at any one time. Some people play poker until 8 am and East Coasters can't sleep past 7 even if they stayed up until 2 am.

Obviously awkward if you're looking to bang hookers in private, but otherwise it's fine. Things have probably changed in the past 20 years but we used to just pretend people lost their keys and asked for extra keys. Also tipped the cleaning people for extra towels / discretion.

Re: Bachelor Party

Yeah there's definitely cheaper options than Venetian but it can be fun crashing with a bunch of your friends in one or two rooms rather than a bunch all spread out. And it's a nicer resort than if you stay at flamingo or something similar.

Groups of girls tend to go this route. I've seen over 10 in one of those rooms though most were looking for D that night and weren't planning on sleeping there.

If your plan is to go clubbing and meet girls it doesn't work. But if you're gambling and drinking all day and no set night plans, people will have irregular schedules and you can fit more people into less rooms.

Why not? Based on my (semi limited) experience, when somebody brings a girl to the room in the middle of the night, everybody else just leaves the room for an hour. If people are too drunk to do that, they just continue to sleep in the other bed.

Not too different from the way people handle it in dorm rooms imo.

Re: Bachelor Party

Well if you have more than one dude per bed, and they're passed out in your bed when you come back with a girl, it's probably not ideal. Girls don't usually mind a friend or two sleeping somewhere in the room, but with 4-5 passed out dudes you might find some that are gonna be a little hesitant to get freaky in the middle of all that.

Re: Bachelor Party

For my B party, we took over the end of a hall at the old Bill's Gambling Hall. One 2 room suite and 2 or 3 single rooms surrounding it. Granted, we did most of the hard-core partying at Sapphire, with down time spent at the poker tables. I was a late-bloomer, almost 40 (no, wait, 42) when I got married (I'm old), and anyone who wanted to could afford their own room.

For my friends party a few years earlier, we did a few rooms connecting at Caesar's, don't remember which tower. We all worked in the hotel/travel industry at the time, and got good discounts thru connections. I think we paid $40 or $50 per person for the weekend. I think we had 4 rooms total, maybe 10 of us (boys n girls) I don't think you'll be able to get that deal now.

Center strip made for a great location for both weekends. If I had to do either over again, I might tend towards downtown/Fremont St, just for the weirdness of it. 4 Queens, Golden Nugget or the Plaza would suffice.

I would not recommend Beacher's Madhouse as your party destination, however. Not really sure what the draw was, except I promised my groom's bride-to-be not to go too overboard with strippers n blow. I err'd on the wrong side of that deal.

Re: Bachelor Party

cosmo has open air hot tub rooms with 2 levels.

Get one of those to party in and a bunch of double bed rooms for the lames that can't pull any strange to pass out in.

Also, don't go to any strip clubs besides rhino

Re: Bachelor Party

The Ceasars connecting rooms thing sounds pretty cool. We are all in early 30s, and he's a close friend so I have no problem splurging. Neither will some of the other guys. I would easily drop $600/night for only two nights to have a comfortable/social setting even the very little we will actually be in the room.

I just know we will keep it light on a group dinner & wont do any shows. My boy is low key, but will prob end up at a strip club for one night. it's basically going to be walking around casinos gambling on random things while getting hammered. I do want to treat him here and there ie have a town car/limo scoop him from the airport. Any specific services to recommend from past history?

Re: Bachelor Party

Caesars is the most overpriced hotel in Vegas for what you get. They charge similarly to Wynn, Bellagio, Aria and Venetian but do not operate at the same level. You can get connecting rooms anywhere.

Yeah I stayed at Planet Hollywood with a group of guys and we had adjoining rooms. All you have to do is ask when making your reservation or ask at the front desk.

Just make sure you stay somewhere central, PH would be my vote as it has a fun vibe. There is shopping right there to get whatever you need and the pool scene is great.

fyp

It depends on what these guys are like. I know guys in their 30's that can't stand that kind of place.

Re: Bachelor Party

Anyone have any history w/ Vegas hosts?

A customer of mine goes out 4x/yr and prob gambles 10-20k weekend. Goes to see shows, dinners, etc

He gave me the hosts contact info. Unsure if it fits our game plan based on OP.

Anyone know what expectations are w/ this? Have history?

Thanks guys!
August .... there will be low room prices, plenty of pools to hang out during the day or at night, plan your hotel more toward what amenities like great pools they offer. Check out getting some cabana space as well, its like having an extra room and space in a great location.

Out of 15+ guys, there will be some unexpected variance, but 3 - 4 guys will simply disappear from sight and turn up for the return flights, or not. I know this is 2+2, but seriously .... there is more to a bachelor party than sitting in a poker room or rooms. Even the 2+2/Upswing July 4 party had a great location this year, compared to getting shoe-horned next to poker venues as in prior 2+2 iterations.

and August is reasonably close to the planned wedding.

It doesn't. Hosts are there to handle players with an established history at a certain amount of play. This one might help out as a favor to your friend, but I wouldn't expect any real hookup here.

Aren't there also casino-independent hosts who help people plan parties?

Specifically, from a few years ago, I distinctly recall a 2p2/LVLer who was a host of this sort, he would help plan trips, etc., in return for tips. There was some kind of megathread where I remember him being super vague about what exactly he could hook one up with or why one would employ his services, and I thought to myself, oh, he's coyly talking about hookers and blow.

I won't post his name because I also remember reading he got banned for being too self-promotional.

Pretty sure you are talking about the guy that finished 2nd in the WSOP main event not too long after getting banned from here.

He was a club host who helped reserve tables at day/night clubs and things like that. Was able to get pretty good deals even at the bigger clubs. Getting a 20%+ discount on a decent 8 person table at a club like Marquee, XS or Tao saves you >$1k so I'd assume he got pretty decent tips.
If you are looking for hookers and blow, your host (casino or independent) will give you a contact for that, but they wouldn't get directly involved in anything that includes the exchange of money. You can also just ask one of the guys that work for the strip club cabs/shuttles and walk through the casinos at night, but going through a host is probably the saver way to do it.
