OP,

Is the rest of Bally's poker room as threadbare as the table implies?

Can you rephrase the question? I have no idea what you're asking.

Great TR so far.

Can you explain the IV stuff - it’s for your hangover?

How much did it cost and how much better is it than say just having a Gatorade?

Yes for hangovers... basic was $149 and just a standard IV bag, I don't think it did anything for me.
D spent 300 for some upgraded stuff including vitamins an extra bag, etc... he said his definitely worked, but not worth 300.

I noticed in your pictures you played at Bally's and the table felt seemed really worn. Is the rest of the room in that same worn condition?

Having played bar poker, I have been in some real dives, but at this point playing casino poker in a rundown room would put me on edge and that wouldn't be good for my game.

By the way, are the grasshoppers still swarming?

Felt is very worn, but the rest of the room is fine. By far the best drink service I'm ever gotten in a Vegas poker room and I've liked all the dealers too.

Apparently the grasshoppers were just media propaganda as we haven't seen a single one.

Well, it was so large it showed up on weather radar.

But the media did say it would only last a week and since grasshoppers don't watch TV, they didn't know they were supposed to stay that long.

Nacho Daddy gets great reviews, guess I shouldn’t be surprised as most people are clueless especially with anything that resembles Mexican or Tex Mex.

Sorry your coupon run didn’t go so well, did seem you enjoyed checking out downtown. El Cortez is a place I have a weird affinity for. I liked it even more before they fixed it up. They had the worse air circulation system and you’d leave there smelling like a pack of smokes and some horrible grandmas petfume. You’d have to wash your clothes twice to get rid of the scent. That BJ game I believe is considered the lowest house edge in the country and $5, crazy.

Day 2 overall was a much slower pace, specially with the drinking - too old to go back to back these days.

After CUT, we headed back to Caesars to collect on our free play. D received $225 in free play and I got a measly $20.

We took the coupons over to the roulette wheel for a chance at a quick score. The first spin I put my $20 on red and D puts $100 on there, plus bought in for $100 to play some numbers inside. First spin hits red and I let it ride while D collects his winning. Boom! Red again. At first I pulled it back, but said what the hell, one more hit and then I'm good with +100. Unfortunately the next # is black and I lose the $20 free play. D continues for a while and I think he ends up losing all the free play plus $100.

At this point we are waiting for my aunt to make her way in so we look for some pai gow to kill time - 2 tables at Caesars are open, one with a $25 min that's full and one with a $50 min with one player. We decide we don't want to play that high and Caesars limits pretty much suck and cross the street to Flamingo.

We play some $15 min at the Flamingo for an hour or so with nothing really eventful happening - I made $100 and I think D lost 100.

After my aunt showed up we headed to the poker room. Me and D jumped into the 1-2 NL game while my aunt was like 5th on the 3-6 limit list. Our table was overall terrible and the players said they had been waiting for cocktails for like 20 minutes already. We decided we would play just a little while longer, but if nobody came over we were heading back to Bally's.

Fee minutes later cocktail waitress comes into the room and gets orders for every single table but ours. Hahah. We rack up after maybe 2 orbits and head out. Not sure how D did, but I somehow lost $125 in the short session - standard: raise pre, c bet, get reraised or called down and give up like 3 hands probably.

On to Bally's were things get a little interesting....

We get to Ballys and aren't quite sure how we will be received by the staff since we both had a little blackoutnis the night before. Any doubt was erased immediately as every staff member gets a huge smile to greet us and the best cocktail waitress in town gives me a hug even.

We tell everyone we'll try to keep it in control tonight, but no real promises.

Game starts out pretty tight and I don't recognize anyone from the night before, but many recognize me/us. First or second orbit in and I run a bluff that gets tank called by 77 on a 99T3K board. Don't remember pre, but I had 67ss on the button and its checked around on the flop, a guy from India bets 20 on the turn and I raise to 70, only he calls. He checks river I bet 120 or 140 and he tank calls. I don't feel bad about the play really until an hour or so more into the game and this guy is playing about 90-95% of the hands. Never bluff this dude! Shortly after this D gets stacked by him on a ATxA8 board with 88 against AT. Gross!

I top back up to $300 - sometime later I get 88 in LP and raise, blind calls. Flop is like ss8 and blind check raises me all in and I turn another 8 against his flush draw for quads. No bonus or anything, but u drag a decent pot. This puts me close to even. At this point we all realize the Arab guy (AG from now on) is absolutely terrible and we are all gunning for him as he now has over 800 and the game is starting to get loose. Another foreigner sits down to my right who is also going to be a huge mark and another guy decides to start straddling here and there. Perfect!

AG ends up losing the 800 and buying in for 500 more, but his last 3 buyins were just for 100. He is one if the biggest Mark's I've seen. Somehow he runs that last 100 back up to around 800 again playing just about eveyhand.

I'm at about $550 when I get dealt T2dd in the sb. Not sure how many limps, but AG is in and soft foreigner calls on the button, I complete and bb checks. Flop is 793 with 2 diamonds. It gets checked around. Turn is a non diamond J. It's checked around to the button, he bets like 20 into 12 or something with about 180 behind or so. I call thinking if I hit the flush or straight I will get all his chips based on how hes played to this point - Major dumbass incoming!
I call and I think we are now heads up, and I'm not even drunk. River is offsuit 8 giving me the straight. I check and button bets 40 or so, I put in like 225 or something to just cover him since we are "heads up".... I look up and AG ****ing has cards and an $800 stack. He waits about 10 seconds and goes allin. FML! Button folds and I say out loud that I'm a dumbass and please don't have QT. Hoping for a chop, he rolls over the mother fricking QT. Bang! Down $550!
Don't be shy - REBUY!

At this point the game gets even GREATER!

....

My wife and I were in Yuppie Hell (the main mall in the most affluent county where we live) when I saw the R2D2 luggage in an "upscale" luggage store.

If you want to buy the droid from these jawas, it will cost you 159.99 galactic credits. The merchants on the planet Amazon charge 79.99 for the carryon and 139.99 for the larger checked version.

Maybe I'm actually the mark!??!?!?! LOL

So now AG has ran 800 to -500 up to 1400ish... and the semi loose staddler guy now decides to go a little goofy... he and another guy decide to go all in dark after everyone folded for about 150... J high vs T high and he wins and the other irrelevant guy heads out of the game. It is still a great game with tons of action for the next hour or so and the best thing I can ever remember seeing at a poker table happens!

The goofy straddler guy says out loud to the whole table I'm going all in dark every hand until the button gets to me, which is going to be 6 hands. He's got about 300 I front of him! Dealer just let's him know he has to do it on his action though. I ask him what is he going to do if he wins and or loses... he says if I lose, in going to buy back in for 300 and keep doing it and if I win I'm going to go all in with whatever I have! Crazy!

Hard to explain how awesome this was in a thread, but it was amazing! He ends up going on all blind for $300 all 6 hands and loses all 6! I of course make zero dollars but great entertainment. AG got him twice and is now over 2k, D got him once when his QJ rivered a pair against A4. So after losing every single hand even after he was a favorite or close to even money in just about all of them, he gets up like he lost a $5 and knucks everyone.... before he leaves the room, he comes back and said he forgot the dealing and pulls out about a $10k wad and gives the dealer $100 and the guy next to him a $100 gaming voucher for some joke he told earlier. Lol

We play on for about an hour or so and I'm pretty much card dead and the game is still great, but seems terrible after what we just had. Guy comes back to the rail a little later and I asked how the puts went and he gives me a thumbs up, YES he's going to come back!

He actually doesn't play again but comes over to show us his pit score. 2 $5k chips and 1 $500 chip. He deserved that!

Game ends up slowing way down and getting short handed, but we played from 11am to about 7am and I just couldn't get much going and ending up cashing out down $360 while D broke even. AG must have had about 1300 when we left.

Da Nit is going to hate this!
If you play 12 hours within 2 weeks at Ballys you can play a $10 tourney the second Saturday as a comp. It pays 80 places and according to the dealers and players, they rarely even get 80 players and a min cash is like $100... basically it's a free $100. My plan was to sleep 2 hours and run to Ballys to register and go all in every hand and then head back to bed. Apparently 45 minutes and not sleeping are not worth $100 minimum to me or D since I shut my alarm off and missed the opportunity.

I haven't exactly kept track of everything and broken it down, but today I have between $8-900 less than what I brought.

Need some run good on day 3! Let's Go!

Umiya Sushi

Place was amazing, great price, food, atmosphere and our chef was an absolute beast and very helpful to both of us rookies who had never done AYCE sushi or ever even eaten nigiri.

We mostly just let him do his thing and there was only about 2 rolls I didn't think were great.

I forgot to take pictures of a few rolls and other items we ate, but got the first and last few. Polished the meal off with some pistachio almond ice cream too (not pictured).

Bill was a laughable $61 for 2 beers and all the food, D paid up on his last dart loss bet and hooked our chef up with a $25 tip too (it is a whole house split really, but he earned it for sure).

Highly recommend this place, especially for a noob who has never been.

For the appreciation tournament, if it is the week where it will be the limit tournament, do you have to have played twelve hours of limit cash to qualify or does any cash play qualify?

If it is the no limit appreciation tournament the Saturday I am out there, I might try to qualify. First is $1,650.

If it is the limit appreciation tournament and any cash game play qualifies, I might try to qualify as 10th to 1st wins $400.

I think its cash game of 12 hours regardless. I haven't been here when a limit game is going.

I just assumed all the tourneys were no limit, but no clue - sleep >>> free money apparently. Ha

Played a slot tonight for the first time all trip, lost 100 but D won about 300 on the same slot, this was at Paris... went to PH after that and played the craps machine thing and I broke even while D lost 300. Service was amazing there and I wasnt planning on getting lit tonight, but our girl there was bringing 2 for 1s after a $5 tip so feeling pretty good at Ballys now, even after hand #3 of the nee table pictured above... still currently +100.

Let's go! Need a decent night!
