35yo High school athletic director, football and basketball coach heading to Vegas in a few short weeks.
I'm going down with my buddy D, who as a diamond member has us a comped room at Caesars Palace for the duration.
We're heading down with our primary focus being on playing lots of cards, having lots of drinks, and eating some decent food at quite a few different spots. On trips in the past, we've typically gambled so much we never gave ourselves time to stop and grab some decent grub, but this trip we are making that change.

Gambling to do list - Not many "goals"

1 or 2 buy ins at 5/10 NL, never played this big live before, D probably won't play this high and we will spend the majority of our time together getting wasted playing 1-2/3 with some 2/5 sprinkled in

I'd like to try some low buyin PLO, but August might be kind of tough for action

$500 - 1k craps session - the only degen I partake in, D will play some slots on top of this

Food list -
AYCE sushi joint - Umiya is the choice thanks to some feedback on this forum: D will be fitting the bill for this as I smoked him playing darts for it last weekend (he plays league once a week, I play once every 5 years and I talked enough **** to get action, Thanks buddy!)

CUT - reserved for Friday night

Bacchanal Buffet - I've been twice and was fantastic, D has never been

Virgil's BBQ - D will also be fitting this bill thanks to the second round of darts after I "got lucky" in game one. Ha

Nacho Daddy - D suggested this, and who doesn't love nachos?!?!

Well, this is a bit long and since we have 20 more days before we jam, I'll probably add more to this intro as well as share some stories about our trips in the past. A few stories are pure gold, while others are of the garden variety enjoyment, but I think it will make the 20 days go by faster.

I used to go every year, but took a 3 year hiatus until I went back last year with a group of 5. It was by far the best trip I'd taken out of about a dozen or so. I made somewhere around $2,500 after all the expenses paid and did manage to fit in a few good meals.

Two chips stack picks from that trip: Caesars in for 8 or 900, Ballys in for 3 or 400.

Well the last 11 days have flown by and I expect the next 8 do to the same, which is great because the excitement of heading back to the mother land is at an all time high.

I thought I'd share a few stories from past Vegas trips, but life has been busier than expected so I'll stick to my favorite.

About 6 years ago me and a buddy (not D who's on this coming trip) visited Vegas for a few days and just had a plan to party and gamble it up.
One night after drinking and gambling all night we end up at the Bellagio somewhere probably around 3 or 4am. We're pretty much B-lined for the poker room, when my buddy spots 2 good looking girls playing at his "favorite" slot machines.
We flip a quick turn and he sits down right next to them as I just slide in to his right uninterested other than to see him work his lame game (usually his pickup line is "wanna take a shot" at a small town bar). After a few minutes, he is chatting away with the girl closest to him and the other girl seems to be in my position, just ready to move on or even call it a night. I decide to let him work his magic and head to the poker room...

A few hours later I text him for an update, he tells me they are still hanging out (her friend left too) and I tell him I'll give him a couple more hours to get it done otherwise I'm heading back to the room to sleep and he's SOL unless she takes him to her place.
After more waiting I head to bed and hours later into the morning he makes his way back with otherwise an uneventful night/morning. I give him a bunch of **** about wasting his time, but he tells me they are going to hang out again later that night. I shrug it off and am just disappointed in him. Lol

So getting up the following day, he tells me the girl's background and that they are in town for her friend's birthday for a few days and that she'd meet him that night to party. Later that day, she tells him something came up and she wouldn't be able to meet up, but the next day would be better... should be end thread, but NOPE.

That evening we end up getting pretty lit and find a street hustler that gets us a comped ride and entry to the Hustler club. We slide the dude a nice tip and hop in the limo a few minutes later and head south.

Less than 10 minutes into the club my buddy is already locked in to the first girl that approaches him, when I look across the club and see a very familiar face, no fricking way!
Don't ask me how I recognized her after only seeing her for less than 5 minutes and in a very poorly lit setting over 100 feet away, but there she is, the girl from the night before. She is a fricking stripper! There's no damn girl's birthday weekend.
At this point, I have to go over and interrupt my buddy and I tell him what the deal he. He's like no Fing way and even looking at her he says it's not her (same conditions, worse eyesight) and then asked how do I know and how would I find out. First, I asked if he wanted to bet a hundred on it, which he accepted (sucker). I told him I'd go up to her and tell her my buddy wanted a dance and I wanted to pay for it. Deal!
As I get closer to her, there is zero doubt this is the girl. I propose a dance for my buddy and she strolls right on over. As soon as she gets within reach of my buddy, her jaw hits the floor!!!

First things first - my buddy slaps down the C-note from losing the bet and I quickly scoop it up and head to the bar and tell them to have fun!
They disappear shortly after into the VIP area and I head from the bar to the stage. Sometime later we are up on the roof drinking champagne out of the bottle watching the sun come up. Me and my buddy eventually get a cab and head back and this girl is gonna get off work and meet my buddy at Caesars... riiiight. After he just spend a couple grand most likely she's had her fun and got his loot.

We get back to the hotel and have a small side story - we meet a security guard outside of Caesars and completely wasted we tell him the whole story and ask if he thinks the girl will show or not. I don't remember his answer, but he was a pretty cool dude, but wanted to act real tough at the same time. He just so happened to have a bike that he refused to let me ride... but, he did leave for a few minutes for some reason and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to take it for a few laps around the entrance of Caesars. LOL. Luckily I had it back parked before he came back out and we went about our way.

Into the casino and killing time just in case this chick actually shows... believe it or not, she calls my buddy and shows up within the hour. Now I'm back in the waiting game, moving around the casino near zombified from the long night/day hoping he can get it done, send her on her way and I can get some sleep.
Ridiculously this plays out the same way as the first... hours of them just hanging out and me waiting it out asking for updates, finally me ending up telling him he's SOL again and I'm heading to the room.
He gets in hours later with the same story... now I dont know who's at fault, him or her, but now I think she just needs a friend to talk to or some **** and we are leaving and 2 days so I'm over it.

I don't remember if they hung out again that trip, but they did stay in touch after we left.

Flash forward months and they kept in touch, he even made several trips to visit her in Vegas, they took a trip to New Orleans, hell, she even came up to no mans land in the upper midwest to visit him, meet his mom and hang out with me, my wife and meet his/our buddies.

Unfortunately, you can not fall in love with a stripper and make it work .. after a couple years of this strange dating cycle, my buddy took one last trip to sin city to hang out with her which ended in cocaine being left in his room by her and him possibly catching some charges and it all fell apart from there. But even with the unhappy ending, this is my favorite Vegas story.

TL;DR - buddy meets a girl, she is actually a stripper, becomes his girlfriend, travel together, meets his family back home, falls apart over coke AND she's a stripper.

I'm pretty sure this trip will not involve any strippers, but hopefully we can make some more great memories and have stories to share down the road.

No strippers? Do yourself a favor go to Fremont one night for low stakes table games. While there take the $7 uber to Jerry’s Nugget in North Las Vegas. Play some $3 craps or low dollar BJ. Maybe get a prime rib special at the diner. Walk across the street to Chicas Bonita’s. It’s like $5 to get in with beer pitcher specials. They have some fine Cuban mamacitas that you don’t find in small Midwest towns. Back to Jerry’s and uber back to downtown. If you don’t get shanked you can thank me later.

I'll be flying in on the 1st myself! Stay out of my pots!!!

Except for having a running buddy, your trip sounds close to what I am planning for my trip.

I have only played $5/$10 at Bellagio but I had fun even though I was a loser. This trip will strictly be $1/$2 NL with some $1/$1 PLO if I can get a seat.

Thanks to you, my plans have changed from playing cash at Bellagio to playing cash at Caesars.

Good luck! Why are you deciding to play at Caesars instead of Bellagio this time around?

I was going to play Bellagio because all my recent Vegas poker experience was there.

I am changing to Caesars because I am diamond and they give $2/hour comps and thirty-four tier credits an hour. If I play and spend enough while out there, I might be able to grind the rest of the way to diamond when I get back home.

My wife likes the private line and the celebration dinner my being diamond affords us.

Before anyone suggests a strip club visit for me, I want to say I have grown out of it too. Living above one for a couple of months while in my early twenties might have had something to do with it.

Will do. We actually wiped Virgil's now I think and added Hells Kitchen instead since I recently just learned about the diamond $100 dinner and told D that would be best value most likely. If we do want some BBQ again though, we'll check that place out. Thanks
