perhaps i'll create a player blogs/goals post for 2022 live poker and beyond, as i will only be updating this thread to reply to comments & whenever i have a new trip to las vegas. that way, i can update whenever i'm playing in detroit, boston, florida, (soon to be) texas.

thanks! i've been playing chasers $2/$5 NL and encore boston $5/$10 yesterday and most likely today/tomorrow, think i'm up about ~$4,000 so far since arriving in Boston.

ooo i just realized that i forgot to mention that the woman actually who covered me STOOD UP while i'm the player at risk, as if she made some sort of grave error/mistake vs. me and felt horrible. obviously when the offsuit A rolled on the river, all i could do is internally eyeroll and just table tap/say "nice hand" hehe. as for the dice situation, yeah i don't really know any of the bets on dice, other than you want to match your first number you rolled before you roll a seven. from my perspective it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, given that parker talbot was a twitch streamer i would watch very often on twitch and have as one of my alltime favorite MTT players to actually watch without it being dreadful years ago.
i think selling action at a reasonable MU is fine, and i know with my experience live+postflop ability i will have an edge in fields up to ~1.1-1.6k. reducing variance & being able to play more MTTs in the long run is completely fine. while i will never claim to be the best player in the world and constantly have my ego in check, i know my worth.

To this day, I still have an eternal conflict between school and poker...I'm actually taking part time classes at the moment.

Coming from someone who is clearly a recreational player, I appreciated the way OP carried themselves at the table as they were always engaging, friendly, and gave action. Compared to most of the local "pros", OP was one of the few that seemed to have it together and was not dreadful to spend time with at the table.
I'm glad to see that you're having success. You're a class act. Hopefully, you're on to bigger and better things and will leave our game behind, ha! Keep working hard.
this truly is the nicest thing i've ever heard from anyone about my game, haha. i think just being around ethan/rampage poker for a decent amount and getting to know him as a person with how genuine and kind he is has taught me a bit about how i should conduct myself as a person around others. garrett adelstein also is a notable example as well, an all-around class act. with the exception of the very few truly goodregs i come across (good sizing pre/post, intuitive & nonintuitive bluffs, frequencies, congruent reasoning w/ ranges across all streets consistently, etc). i don't really have that much to pick up from garrett's game, however his mannerisms and etiquette/class shown at the table have it such that anyone can learn something new from him.
i will always table my hand first if i think i have the winner. at the end of the day i know that many of the players i play with are here with me simply for recreation or to have an enjoyable time playing, and i'm not here to make anyone's time miserable. if anything, i at least want them to have an enjoyable time and come back, win or loss. to be a recreational player or a VIP in a game means that you're a crusher in another aspect of life, whether it be in business/law/healthcare/etc. and honestly, that's the way to go about it imo for 95%+ of people.
i'm all for creating a friendly and social environment as well if i think i can, so i'm not afraid of showing hands i lay down. there's a whole topic on whether or not one should show, but i think it's overall +EV in live because players will overadjust by thinking i'm too tight/loose in all spots or that i'll fold to any/all aggression, it encourages others to show & i will utilize the information better than other players.
ex. yesterday at encore boston harbor 5/T 1.5k max:
UTG self-proclaimed OMC open limps,
UTG+1 (lawyer who has been playing decent & somewhat snug) isos to $50 (standard size by him).
i flat AKs UTG+2, as i was already somewhat suspicious of the OMC just open limping pre. yes, it is standard to 3bet here, but if there are any combos of AK to flat, it's going to be AKs>AKo
folds back to OMC who backraises to $180, UTG+1 mucks and i just decide to muck faceup. totally fine to call here as well though as well, merits to both.
while there's still a ton of merit of still playing AKs IP, i know i'm up against a range of AK/QQ+ & figure against this opp. in specific i'm not really picking up another dime with my hand if i do connect. i fold faceup and visibly have the guy mindblown/thinking about my fold even 30m after playing the hand, calling me a nit for the rest of the session. OMC does end up showing QQ faceup, which would be my bestcase scenario vs him other than AKs/AKo. i also figured that there would be somewhat of a tilt factor if he actually does have AA/KK, on top of the entire table assigning me as a meganit or something. and for 5BB, i think that's worthwhile.
