All the dots connect now. Seems kind of dumb in hindsight but I could totally see a normal person getting extremely annoyed by the cashier's behavior in this situation. On the other hand, I'm sure there is no commission for the cashier and they are probably schooled about controlling alcohol sales to minors and with a gaming license at stake are told to be EXTRA vigilant so I 100% support what the cashier did and the casino policy behind it.

Sorry that it escalated so quick and ended up getting blown way out of proportion. Let us know how stuff works out for you.

I would immediately ask to see the manager and wouldn't leave until I could.
If she was the manager then I would complain to a higher up, especially if its owned by a casino. Calling security myself would not be on my mind.

It wouldn't get me mad enough to do what you did but mad enough to try and get her fired or to receive some compensation for this bs.

let me just make sure i have the story straight.

you were drunk and you walked into the bally's gift shop and started knocking **** over right in front of a security guard. and the security guard was like, "wow, this dude is so drunk and oblivious that he's wrecking **** right in front of me. better nip this in the bud."

this is not germany! in many places they can't by law. in vegas i assume it's legal but obviously no casino is gonna do it. op decided to have an autistic meltdown and start smashing merchandise instead of just asking his girlfriend to go back to her room and get ID

You ARE allowed to buy alcohol if accompanied by a minor. Parents go in with their children and buy alcohol all the time. However, you can't buy alcohol if accompanied by an adult without an ID. This was a major point of contention in the argument I had. I asked them to explain this policy and three or four differently employees failed to provide a coherent explanation.

because they don't want a 22 year old to buy alcohol for a 20 year old friend

obviously a 40 year old parent is not buying alcohol for their 5 year old kid

is this really not obvious?

I sort of understand the rationale, but no one could specifically explain what the policy was. But it doesn't matter. At this point I don't want to rehash the argument, just figure out how to get reinstated.

It also sounds like you'd already had enough whisky if you end up intentionally knocking stuff off shelves in a gift shop.

Were you drunk at the time?

I had a couple drinks with dinner but certainly wasn't drunk. If I were drunk, I probably would have been much less likely to get angry.

Re: Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

Just wait a few weeks / months (if your major concern is the WSOP that shouldnt be hard), write them a nice letter (look up at CET page, should be easy to find) saying you are very sorry, see the errors of your ways, you love LV, the WSOP, blabla and ask if they could reinstate you at a time of their choosing. Do not try to argue, or insist that you were right. Unless there are more / more severe incidences with you, normally it should be no problem

It seems to me that every time you make a post, a little bit more information comes to light. It appears that you were obviously pissed off and argumentative with both security and the cashier. Why didn't you just walk out the door and go to another store next door and leave your attitude behind? At 38 years old, you should be mature enough to know you will not win an argument if you act aggressively in front of security/police people.

Wow, thanks so much for alerting me to that issue. That thread (and Nick's defense) is hilarious (in a pathetic sort of way). Here are a few of my favorites:

I don't sneak it in, I just walk in with an empty cup...it's not like Panera has people monitoring the doors. Though occassionally, I will walk in with a full cup of iced tea from home or my office.

I haven't made it through the entire thread yet, but I just got to the point where Nick has now gone off on a tangent to detail how petty theft from grocery stores is also not an issue with him.

I remember reading about a couple of guys that couldn't play in the WSOP because they were banned and the bans took at least a year for those guys to lift.

So a better description of what happened was:

I had a couple of drinks at dinner with a girl. We went into the gift shop looking to buy a bottle of whiskey. She didn't have an ID with her and the clerk wouldn't sell the bottle to me. I demanded the clerk call security so they could overrule the clerk and let me buy the bottle. When they didn't, I went through the store knocking things over.

It isn't credible that you were talking to security and the clerk in a calm, rational tone but felt outraged enough to start knocking things over.

I suspect you'll have a more difficult time than most getting re-established. Casinos don't like patrons that get angry and start trying to break things. For their point of view, this isn't a minor or gaming offense. They're going to worried that you're going to walk in and start destroying thousands of dollars of decorations.

At best, I'd let it wait 6 months, then have someone else write a letter for you to sign acknowledging you reacted poorly and as proof that you are changed, attach a certificate of completion of an anger management class.

Re: Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

So facing the choices of

1) Having your gf go get her ID, which she should have on her anyway.
2) Go into a different liquor store and ask gf to wait outside
3) Cause a big scene

You went with 3? Do you realize the cashier had zero say in the store's policy?

For the police to be called, I'm going to go ahead and assume you're severely downplaying the severity of the confrontation.

How about you start with a letter of apology to the cashier and security guard? Not because it will help you get unbanned, but because it's the decent thing to do.

Interesting, I didn't know about that. Just yesterday I went to the liquor store with a stroller, that didn't cause any problems.

I also learnt that not having your ID in a casino is probably not a good idea. This thread is very educational for me.

Did your child attempt to buy alcohol before you did?

Not any place I've ever lived. In fact, some states don't even require that the person over 21 must produce ID. The retail outlet determines its own policy on when it is necessary to check for ID. Some other states require ID to be checked if the customer "looks" under a certain age. I only know of one state (TN) that absolutely requires any and all customers (even senior citizens) to produce identification in order to purchase alcohol.

Do you have any statutory basis for your claim that many jurisdictions prohibit an adult from purchasing alcohol if accompanied by a minor? I'm not categorically stating that you're wrong, but as I said, I've never encountered such a law.

I don't think this part is an accurate characterization. I swatted my hand once at a couple plastic toys in front of me. I doubt anything was damaged, and if it was, it couldn't have been more than a couple dollars. Certainly no more damage than someone who creases a card at the poker table.

Re: Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

The clerk was either correctly or incorrectly interpreting a house policy. Of course there's no law that says an adult can't buy alcohol if accompanied by a minor, that's ridiculous, nor is there some 24-hour law. In the eyes of the law it wouldn't be any different if the person was 20 years old or 2, and I'll wait while someone says they were denied a drink in a restaurant because their kids were at the table.

Solution is to go over the clerk's head and if that goes nowhere, go somewhere else.
