Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

So I was trespassed at Bally's LV two nights ago; taken into the back by security, evicted from my room, photographed, given a misdemeanor warning from the police, and told I could not return to any Vegas CET property for some indefinite period of time.

The "crime" was knocking two or three plastic superhero toys off the shelf at the Ballys gift shop. I don't imagine I damaged any of them, but I can't be certain, since I was surrounded and handcuffed by security within ten seconds of this happening.

I had a friend to stay with, and I was leaving Las Vegas the next day anyway, so this had very little short term impact. But I do play in several WSOP events each year in June, and want to make sure this isn't impeded. FWIW, I've been a Diamond card member for the past eight years or so, mostly through poker play on the east coast.

Anyone have any experience in how to address this?

ask Stealthmunk, Sam P, Cater Gill, Tony Big Charles etc ---

seems they're notorious for this ticky tack 86's, and seems to be pretty hard to get back in. No real help, but more likely than not you'll be playing poker elsewhere.

I'm confused. So even the police got involved in this? I'm being nosy here but there must be more to the story.

Even if you think it's complete bs which is certainly possible (the guys in security are not exactly a bunch of geniuses), I'm curious what security's side of the story is.

I would call Bally's (should be easy to find the number online), ask to speak to security and ask them. I would be surprised however if you didn't miss any
WSOP events because it's not their problem and they won't care IMO.

Talk to your host back east and see if he can do anything.

You didn't mention that you picked them up and replaced them on the shelf. I infer from your comment that, "I don't imagine that I damaged any of them" that you didn't attempt to rectify your clumsiness. Were you drunk?

Something significant is missing from your story. I mean security doesn't rush to arrest a patron for accidentally knocking a couple of plastic toys from a shelf.

Would be interested in hearing the rest of the story.

No offense OP, but I'm with the others who thinks there's likely more to this than you're letting on. I'm not saying I do or don't think you "deserved" to be trespassed, just that you might be omitting details that are unfavorable.

Re: Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

I was a high profile high stakes team playing 21 perfessional. I was on a first name basis with multiple casino managers. I have been read the trespass act at every CET property on the strip. In fact I was read it at the RIO multiple times in one weekend. I no longer play 21 and I have a CET card and play poker and have zero issues entering and playing in any CET property. I have multiple former teammates and partners who have also been read the trespass act at multiple CET properties and now play without issue (we all stay away from the pit but play poker). Two of my former teammates were 86'd from the rio for 21 went on to later win bracelets in poker

So if it was truly something as small as you claim it shouldnt be an issue imho

well it looks like you're banned from CET properties so i wouldn't plan on WSOP next year.

i know one guy who got his CET ban overturned, he was smoking weed at the cromwell pool. took him a couple of years to get that fixed.

let me just make sure i have the story straight.

you made it sound like you were innocently shopping for some cheeze-its and your elbow brushed a couple of stupid kids toys on the ground.

"whoops" was what you uttered as you turned around to pick them up. but as you were bending over to retrieve them, paul blart swooped in and slapped on some cuffs.

OR

you were drunk and you walked into the bally's gift shop and started knocking **** over right in front of a security guard. and the security guard was like, "wow, this dude is so drunk and oblivious that he's wrecking **** right in front of me. better nip this in the bud."

Adding to Augie's "OR" version, then OP, as drunk people tend to do, got highly argumentative and belligerent with security to the point they needed to remove him from polite society...

You never know. I was almost trespassed from the Gold Coast for "being rude" to a security guard because I asked him a question, then quickly said "never mind". It doesn't take much for some cupcakes to get butthurt.

Re: Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

I intentionally knocked them off the shelf. I wasn't drunk or belligerentt, but I was pissed off over something unrelated. It was a totally stupid and immature thing to do. But as I said, it was just two or three cheap plastic toys and I doubt they were damaged. I would have picked them up, but as I said in the OP, security had me handcuffed within seconds and this was impossible.

I think the police -have- to get involved if they want to trespass you. And I don't think I have a "host".

Re: Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

the police do not have to get involved when they trespass you. they can simply read you the act. when they read you the act they will tell you that if you return they will call the cops and have you arrested. as i stated earlier i personally have been 86'd multiple times during a single weekend. They have attempted to detain me at various casinos but since i did nothing illegal they can not do that and I make it perfectly clear that they cant

your story is a little different. but that being said i wouldnt sweat it too much. Go back and play on the east coast...I doubt they will do anything. By next summer you will most likely be g2g

How could security have you in cuffs in 10 seconds?

They happened to be in the store at the time, or they were following you with the cameras and security on the ground because of other behavior in the previous minutes or hours?

Sounds like he was causing a stir, and either security heard it and decided to get involved, or the store clerk called them.

The security was already in the store. In fact, I had asked the clerk to call the security into the store in order to get on record a dispute I had with the clerk. As I said before, it was obviously totally stupid of me to knock over the toy, especially while I knew security was there. At this point, I just want to know what I should do get reinstated.

The police were not involved when they handcuffed me. A police officer arrived in the back about half an hour later at the same time they read the trespass act (or whatever it's called) and wrote up a "misdemeanor warning".

Ok, so you had a dispute with the clerk and security was called at which point you rage knocked over some merchandise.

That explains the whole thing much better than your initial post.

I am guessing if you just let a little time go by and then try to contact the right people(I don't know who those are tho) and maybe apologize in writing, etc. that they will lift the ban.

Yeah, that's sort of right, except that I was the one that asked the clerk to call security in to help adjudicate the dispute. Probably no one would have noticed the whole thing if I didn't do that.

I'm mostly wondering who I should contact and in what format.

Re: Anyone have experience being trespassed at CET over something minor?

I have no experience with this myself and I feel bad that someone so small could have such a large effect for you down the road. You have two ways that you can approach this:

1. Let a few months pass and then go play on the east coast and see if anything happens. They probably won't pick you up on camera using some face recognition technology but try swiping your player's card at the poker table or in a slot machine (try slot machine first because this is higher revenue for them) and see if they triggers security to come over. This will determine is they made a note linking your TR card to the trespass warning.

2. Contact a host or someone in the host department. Explain the situation and ask how you should proceed. If you have been diamond for 8 years (although it is from poker), I'm sure the host will do something or try to do something to lift the trespass note on your account.

I would try #1 first because there might not be a note linked to your player's account so why bring it up if it isn't an issue. I know CET is a big company and things fall through the cracks and many times if they fall through the cracks to your benefit, it is best not to bring it to their attention and take the easy win.

(Example: whenever I stay at CET, I use my comps to pay for my hotel room. I have over $1,000 in reward credits so it always covers the bill. When I check out, they take the amount off my credit card, even refunding the deposit of the first night that is put there when I originally make the reservation, and then take it off my reward credit balance. Well, it turns out that this is done in two separate transactions in their system. Once, the front desk lady forgot or was nice enough to take the balance off my bill and credit card but didn't touch my reward credits. It was a LONG stay for my parents who were in town and saved me about $300 in reward credits.)

I honestly feel that talking with security directly will yield ZERO results and might only bring the issue back into light if it has fallen through the cracks. Having a host who might have some personal benefit in helping you out will yield far better results.

Make sure to be humble, laugh at your own silly behavior, act dumb, and show your gratitude for their help. Doing this has gotten me out of lots of potentially troublesome spots. People feel sorry for people who seem dumb and innocent at heart and are more likely to help them over a sharp guy who screwed up and is cocky.

Good luck. Worst case, play the secondary tournament series in Vegas during the summer at neighboring casinos for a year and try again. Time heals wounds.

Try all contact over the phone or in person before writing a letter or email or anything like that. You don't want a letter in writing admitting your guilt in their possession. I don't see how this would help things at all.

There is no one specific who would value a written apology in a large corporation like CET. If there is anyone to apologize to, it is the clerk and the letter will never get to the clerk through any channels of that company. It's simply a procedural matter at this point.

Thanks....I don't think the ban applies outside of Las Vegas. My impression is that the trespass law is Nevada-specific anyway. In many states, casinos cannot kick people out at their will like in Nevada. I'm going to Harrah's Cherokee tomorrow in any case so I guess I'll find out (I have about $500 in date-specific slot play coupons there to cash in). But I do want be able to play in the WSOP next year.

Slightly earlier, I had been in the gift shop along with a girl, and wanted to buy a bottle of whiskey. The cashier asked the girl for her ID, but she left it in the room, so the cashier said I couldn't buy anything (I did have my ID; I am 38 years old and she is 34). We left and I came back alone a few minutes later. The same cashier told me I couldn't buy anything now even if I was by myself for the next 24 hours.

You are not allowed to buy alcohol if you are accompanied by a minor?
