The amount of ammo had to be incredibly heavy and would take a lot of trips. With that said, someone careful could definitely get that amount of ammo and guns and tripods up to his room without calling attention to himself.

If I were bringing that many guns to a room, I would probably take several trips from my car, spread out over multiple days.

Bal,

It would be very easy to do without anyone giving you a second glance. I've taken multiple cases like this to my room in Vegas a number of times. Very common for people to do this with last-minute tradeshow stuff that couldn't get shipped to the venue in time.

I've also taken long sign carriers that look identical to gun cases.

Man, nothing found out about this guy that would lead him to do this...maybe someone Manchurian Candidate-ed him.

Or the _real_ shooter(s?) left his body there.

Seriously, I'd like to know the lineage of his weapons. I assume Nevada's gun laws are as "strict" (Ha) as Arizona's when it comes to private sales/gun show sales. We may never know where, how or from whom he got these weapons.

I just assumed it was OJ when I saw the first headline.

My guess is that he had only checked in on the day and didn't leave his room except for maybe the odd quick run to the vending machine or nearby fast food outlet to ensure that no staff intruded and then listened to basically the whole concert and let fly. Not as some terrible hate for country music or its attendees but simply to the world and vegas in particular to which he lost all his money it seems previously.

He checked into the room on Thursday and housekeeping cleaned it daily.

Gunfire was with 100% certainty fully automatic. My best guess is an M16/AR15 variant illegally modified for full auto capability. Even scarier would be an M249 Squad Assault Weapon, but it sounded like he was changing out clips vs. drums of ammo.

Based on the rate of fire I do *not* think it was a heavy barrel full auto machine gun (like an M240 or its variants)
From the sound I heard on tv it's too slow to be real full auto. They were saying somewhere it might have been a cranking device like a BMF Activator or bumpfire. There are also binary triggers that sound like that.

A thousand rounds of AR-15 ammo weighs 30-40 pounds. Seeing people bringing rifle cases to their rooms is nothing new. People have any number of reasons for having rifles with them, and don't want to leave them in their cars.

The killer had homes in Mesquite NV and Mesquite TX.

He had family in TX but why would he live in Mesquite NV? His partner is Filipino and probably had no family there? I'm not local and so don't know the context of Mesquite NV.

Sky News also called him a poker player on their main news broadcast but didn't back this up with any evidence.

I actually think this thread is more appropriate for info on him as a gambler (since that may be the theory of why he did it).

He must have been extremely well-known to the casino. A super high roller since $100 slots/video poker are usually in the high-limit areas of the casino (I don't know Mandalay Bay). Casinos love slots players. I am sure his room and food was comped by the casino weeks in advance. And he must have told them he specifically wants a room facing the concert.

There has to be tons of inside casino video of him too. Especially in the high-limit area.

They also would know the true extent of his winning and losses. He may have been on credit before he did this horrific act.

I am not sure this will become public though.

His brother said he made millions in real estate and still owned a plane. I wouldn't speculate on "why" by just guessing and wait for facts to come out.

TBH if I were a mod I would make it solely a thread for checking in to make sure people are okay and exile all the gun talk and gun control talk to somewhere else.

Everyone's super emotional after an event like this and discussion should be reserved for cooler times. Like, seriously, if people want to brag about how they identified the type of gun based on the sound or if they want to blame Trump/Obama or whatever, I suggest exactly one month from today we create a discussion thread and people can bring up anything that they've been holding onto for 4 weeks.

My prediction? The thread will be a ghost town, and everyone will have forgotten - for the better - what their gut emotional response was.

Top Story: Las Vegas shooter was a $100 a hand poker player.

I don't think you could ever find a more relevant topic. This is a message board that was founded purely for poker purposes. You also have a supposed poker player that committed the worse mass-murder in US history. Of course there is going to be a lot more interest than normal.

And this person had to be extremely well-known to the casino as a resident and a prolific gambler. In the top 1% of 1%. They most likely paid for his room where he unleashed the most mass murderers on domestic soil ever by one individual.

Are you speculating that it was a failed assassination of Dan Bilzerian?

Relieved you're OK Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.
