My guess is that either he had a family emergency in Mexico, he felt that being with family would be helpful for dealing with a traumatic experience, or MGM encouraged him to take a vacation because they want him out of the public eye.

I don't think this should be automatically dismissed. He lost a massive amount of money in the years leading up to this playing games he had no chance of beating. I figured out that he was theoretically losing about $700/hr if the reports of his 8/5 BP $5 denom 5-play is correct. MLife points plus actual value of his seed/comps could never overcome that.
