by the way, i was initially a little disturbed by the timeline of events (security guard getting shot 10 mins before massacre started) but there were reasonable explanations for the police studder-stepping on their way to the 32nd floor. but then there's a new report that Mandalay didn't even call 911 until the massacre started? if proved to be true, that's going to cost them dearly. i'd call that a criminal amount of negligence.

Yup, that security guard is going to have a very comfortable retirement. Maybe that's why they said he was no longer on the employee roster in one of those conspiracy youtubes. He might have told them he was going to sue and they fired him.

Seems like they were more at fault wrt the security guard if they didn't call 911 when the security guard reported it. He's sitting up there bleeding while people in the security office were sitting on their hands.

Well, the most recent timeline has Campos being shot at 10:05 rather than 9:59. It's possible that the original time was based on when the guard first arrived on the 32nd floor. It was reported that he found the door barricaded and had to go up a floor and come down a different way to get onto the floor. I would guess he would walk up the stairs and down the hallway at a leisurely pace and not rush in case something is wrong.

It's a plausible explanation, assuming that it is normal for security guards to use the stairs.

They use to search trunks back in 2006. We had a friend drop us off at Bellagio through the self park and our friend happened to have a snowboard in a travel bag in their trunk. The security guard asked what was in the bag and we said a snowboard... a few seconds goes by and he goes... if it's a snowboard then why is it moving? Then he busts up laughing and we had a good laugh and continued on our way. Simpler times.

There probably already is a non-disclosure clause in his employment paperwork. Cant imagine a casino that didn't have one.

True, but the job may require that they are notified and that their lawyer is present to represent him. I have signed NDA that required notification of any subpoenas and an opportunity for the company to quash it prior to any questioning or testimony.

According to the Supreme Court, you are not required nor should you talk to the police and it is not obstruction if you don't. It is obstruction if you lie to them.

I'm all for helping put bad guys away but most times they are trying to get you to talk so they can charge YOU with a crime. 'oh, but back here you said he had on a yellow shirt but now you changed it to orange so you are lying and therefore must be guilty so we are charging you with murder' No one has 100% recall which is why there are court reporters, video surveillance and tape recordings.

Having been through a lot of subpoenas, discovery, and testifying in regulatory hearings the key advice of the sharp legal minds to me has been '...shut your mouth...' and '...here is what we want you to say and nothing more...' If they do ask you to supply more info or expound upon something then use the Hillary Clinton tactic (over a 160 times in the Whitewater hearings) of '...I don't recall...' then they can't get you for lying under oath nor can they force you to remember.

Still, I wonder about Mr. Campos.

This issue was referring to the guard talking to the press and an interview scheduled with Hannity that he blew off.

I was more curious as to the legality of "hey MGM pay me 10M to not tell the story about how you ****ed up" after the cops got all they needed regarding the shooter

Heard an interesting angle on why Ellen Degeneres, hard-hitting news reporter, would be the one to get an interview with Campos the security guard. Turns out MGM sponsors that show and MGM has Ellen-themed slot machines in some of their casinos. They also didn't have to worry too much that Ellen would start hitting him with tough hardball questions.
