I saw wanding done on Oct 4th, at the entrance from the Wynn parking garage, swing shift.

Did not see it on the 5th, and have not been back since then.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

I've seen a few youtubes where people are being checked. To get into the casino, not just people checking in.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

Geez, I got stopped at the Venetian parking garage entrance right after 9/11 but they never looked in the trunk. I'm pretty sketchy looking too, short of having a beard and turban.

I guess we can assume they snoop around in your car if you valet.

Apropos of nothing is this thread, one time (during Grateful Dead weekend, 20+ years ago), the valet at the Trop brought out my friends car, and announced "Honda Civic with 4 roaches in the ashtray!" He got one as a tip.

I'm probably making up the last part, 'cause I'm pretty sure there were 5 in there when we parked it.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

I've had them check my trunk at Venetian before on 9/11. Aria security has been checking trunks for everyone since the mass shooting. Mine has gotten checked several times in the last 1-2 weeks.

Parked at Bellagio once this week and they didn't check there.

So what the hell, do you have to maintain a neat and orderly trunk to go to those places?

Guess so. The implication is they won't let you in if you have a rifle in the trunk. Not that they could tell without opening luggage.

At Resorts World Manila you have to go through metal detectors to enter the casino. And there are usually gun-toting security/police at the main entrances.

They had those measures before a gunman tried to rob the place in June.

They've had those security features at the big modern malls in Manila for ages. It's not just casinos for sure.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

I've seen all the videos (I think) on the web. I'm too lazy to dig through all the conspiracy theories. But....... There is one part of a video that really bugs me. If this has been figured out already please forgive me. The main video where Aldean took the stage.

He sings. Gunfire. Huge teleprompters cut off. Huge big screens go black making main crowd harder to see. Huge white lights are turned on and exposes the main crowd.

Who is the light person who decided to make it black then turn on what essentially became flood lights to light up the crowd? It looks so suspicious the way it went "dark" then someone knew to turn on the flood lights and exposes the crowd. Almost looks planned the way it happened and the sound of gunshots.

It's already been discussed, Paddock had hacked into the concert light system and was controlling it with his mind.

I know you already know this but...putting up the house lights is a nearly universal signal that the show is over and for the audience to leave the venue.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

I just have to ask...what good will it do to ban hotel guests from bringing legally owned (and often state licensed to carry) firearms to their rooms? I'm pretty sure Paddock ignored a few written and unwritten hotel policies, as well as a few major laws.....starting with "don't murder people".

I'm not trolling here, I'm seriously trying to figure out how a sign out front telling law abiding citizens not to bring their legal firearms into the hotel will prevent even 1 deranged lunatic from attempting to murderer 500 people?

Is he going to walk up to the lobby doors and see the "no firearms" sign and say "Doh! Those darn casinos foiled my plot with this sign out front!"?

Now if you are taking about full airport style security checks for every person going past the front desk then, yes, I can see that preventing a deranged lunatic from completing his mission. But it's also been established in this thread that full airport style security checks every time you want to go to your room to use the crapper isn't going to happen, at least not for very long. It's just not feasible.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

That appears to be what Wynn was trying. Don't know if you've seen the youtubes of people being wanded at the front door. I wonder what they do if it beeps on someone's luggage? They don't have x-ray machines - do they make the guests open their bags? I can't believe people will put up with that for very long.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

It won't stop a copycat, but that's not really the point. Having the policy and strengthening security might (probably won't) stop a different kind of shooting just by having less guns around, but would also presumably lessen the hotel's liability should an incident occur.

It doesn't at all. That's why anything that is actually going to matter has to be done in congress but they're not gonna do **** either.

There are several security measures that could have prevented this tragedy from occurring.

Re: Active shooter in Mandalay Bay.

I'm sure there is a smart company out there that could develop a static camera programmed to monitor buildings/hotels/resorts, and sound an alarm should a window come open or be broken out.

Maybe I should patent this.
