Watching some Vegas TV news on the computer right now and the reporters sound nervous. Hope this ends ASAP.

Terrible. Glad to see familiar screen names checking in.

Stay safe.

Just came home from a concert to read this on Twitter. So awful.

Fortunate that all of my roommates and I decided to stay home today and do Sunday MTTs instead of going to the strip. This is some pretty awful stuff. Can hear sirens outside our house.

TV news now saying "one shooter dead". I guess implying there may be another but they're not sure yet.

Apparantly someone was shooting out an 30ish floor window down onto an outdoor festival.

I've seen people posting on Reddit about shooters at NY NY, Excaliber, and a guy with a rifle at the Bellagio, etc. Seems like there is a lot of misinformation going around. Hopefully it's isolated to this one shooter they supposedly have down at MB.

Can still hear a lot of sirens from my porch.

Witness who was on 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay sleeping: ‘I heard hundreds of shots around 10-10:15. You could smell gun powder.’

I own a business in the outdoor/hunting industry I'm very familiar with firearms. From the rapid fire gunshots I heard on one of the 2 minute long Twitter videos, it dang sure sound like fully auto weapons. Even with some new/legal triggers and bump fire stocks, I'm not sure you could dump mag after mag that fast without some hiccups in the shooting. It did sound like a long time for the reloads.

Just to go ahead and clear this up before anyone makes any mistakes about the gun laws....

Fully automatic weapons are illegal and have been since the National Firearms Act of 1934. A fully automatic weapon fires a burst or a constant stream of bullets when the firearm's trigger is pulled and held. The only civilians allowed to own full autos are Class 3 dealers and civilians who go through a year (or more) long FBI background check that is the REAL deal. It is also VERY expensive to purchase one of these weapons. Think of the military M-16, this is a full auto capable weapon.

A semi-automatic is what most common firearms made today are. Each pull of the trigger fires one shot. As fast as you can pull the trigger the firearm will fire a round. However, short of a handful of world class shooters, you can't pull the trigger repeatedly near as fast as you think you can. So 99.9% of the time when people say "he had an automatic" they either mean and semi-auto or they are confused. Think AR-15....it looks identical to the M-16 but it is a semi-auto.

Again, the police will confirm but this sounded like automatic fire to me. If so, that's bizarre. This stuff just isn't out there in the hands of civilians unless they have the permit and that's rare. I'm unaware of any cases of permit holders using full autos in a crime like this. They just aren't those kind of people.

This is going to be interesting as we learn more. I hope I'm wrong and these weren't full autos. Praying for the injured and the police.

It is very easy to buy a full auto sear and change out and then you have a full auto. Illegal but when did stop anyone that wants to do it.

It sounded like fully autos, but are you trying to politard that semi-autos shouldn't be banned as well? Fully autos are unnecessary for the public, so are semi-autos.

Brutal that multiple people said there heard 100+ shots fired.

I'm grateful there were not multiple shooters as reported earlier, and hope the casualties will be as limited as possible.

Unfortunately it sounded like fully auto fire to me with hundreds of shots. Fearing the worst, but hoping the best.

Shooter was on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay. Police engaged and shot him dead. They are looking for his traveling companion "Marilou Danley" a short Asian female 4'11, 111 lbs. -As reported by Sheriff Lombardo.

edit. CNN reporting at least 20 dead, over 100 injured.

According to Sheriff Lombardo in his conference couldn't place a number of casualties, but estimated 100+ injured, 20+ dead, including two off duty officers.

Disgusting and horrific. The shooter was sent to hell. A person of interest, Mary Lou Danley is still on the loose.

I think you are the first person to politard. People are always confused about the differences between semi-auto and fully-auto when it comes to mass shootings. He simply provided his expertise on the subject.
