Good Limit Rooms? Good Limit Rooms?

Hi All,
Been a while since I've been out to LV. Which casinos are the best options for 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 limit? Prefer downtown but it really doesn't matter. Thanks!

I honestly don't know of any/many? Might want to check the table listings for the casinos you'll be near. Most of them post tables and waitlists on their sites.

Local rooms might get some action, but this is what I know of the Strip.

Flamingo is your best bet for 2/4 LHE.
You can find 4/8 LHE at Bellagio (usually just 1 table) and Orleans.
Mirage once in awhile gets a 3/6 game I think.

And that is pretty much it. Use Bravo to check around.

The only downtown rooms left are Golden Nugget and Binions, and neither get limit action from what I can see.

A good reference is the room survey that is done for the 2p2 magazine.

Flamingo is definitely the best to find a 2/4 L game in Las Vegas.

The problem is the rake/drop is so high ($6), that it is really impossible to 'beat' the game.

A couple of local card rooms out here (Pechanga, and Oceans Eleven), actually have a reduced rake/drop for 2/4 Limit, which makes the game a little easier to beat.

Oceans Eleven rarely fills any low limit games, but Pechanga fills several 2/4 Limit games daily, with a reduced rake/drop of $2-$4, per hand. $4 is the maximum rake for 2/4 Limit at Pechanga.

These game usually fill up quickly on High Hand of the Hour days, since limit tables see more than twice the hands of NL tables for those looking to grind these promotions.

Would be nice to see the Flamingo, and other Vegas rooms, have a reduced rake/drop at this bottom level..maybe it would actually attract new poker players..

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I'll check out the Nugget and perhaps Binions for tournaments.

I think I saw Mandalay running 4/8, but I may be mistaken.

2/4 limit is a fun game but I don't think you can make any money at it because of the rake. 4/8 you can probably make a couple of bucks an hour if you really grind it out. I think 8/16 is generally considered the first legitimate stake. It's a shame the game is dying because it's a great game.

The Orleans used to have plenty of 2/4, multiple games running whenever I looked for it. Flamingo is not as consistent. Orleans also has plenty of 4/8.

Red Rock, a few miles off the Strip, had pretty steady 4/8 also, and occasionally 6/12.

And as much as I never want to recommend the Bellagio, they sometimes get 4/8.

Golden Nugget usually has at least one 2-4 limit game going.

Very social and everyone there is acutely aware of the High Hand bonuses.

Definitely try to avoid all the games where people will chase bad hands.

They don't respect your raises at the low limit games. Try the 20-40 game.

This kind of thinking is just about the biggest leak in LHE.

Who gives a crap about respect? Raise to get chips in the pot when you've got an equity edge.

Funny how Omaha and Texas Limit are on the opposite ends of the poker spectrum, but they are both similar in that both are huge chase games..

People, JF is going on vacation, he didn't say he's moving to Vegas to become a pro.
If you're somewhat competent at limit, you can play all vacation and not lose a penny.
Ok, last time I did that, I was 20 bucks loser. Made up my mind, if I ever take up limit again, I'm not tipping the dealers!

What do you mean by "opposite ends"?

Even NL pros can't guarantee no losing months.

Your vacations would have to be pretty damn long to guarantee breakevem or better.

No, if course not. Main thing is to have a fun vacation.
My comments were more on the silly side. Wasn't intended to troll anyone.

Binions leaves much to be desired on the tournament side. Expect VERY LOW turnout and for those that DO enter to be pretty much playing push-fold poker from the start if my experience there is any indication. No actual cash games have ever been running when I wandered over.

Concur about the Nugget though...have seen more than one morning where the 2-4 had more players than the 1-2 NLHE game.

Oh, sorry then for the strong response.

I'm a LHE player and frequently people get the misconception that you can't lose money at LHE because the bet size is limited. And if I'm playing against them I won't correct them because NL players who get sucked out on and go play oversized LHE games thinking it's lower variance are very profitable for LHE players. But you guys are cool and I'll tell you the truth - LHE is super swingy.
