Chaos all over. All or a large part of the Mirage casino floor evacuated with a stampede causing injuries and table games abandoned with chips and banks left behind.

I've been living in Vegas for 7 months..It was easy to see something as horrible as this coming..My wife and our friends regularly talked about it..The security on the strip always seemed so relaxed ..

Gunfire was with 100% certainty fully automatic. My best guess is an M16/AR15 variant illegally modified for full auto capability. Even scarier would be an M249 Squad Assault Weapon, but it sounded like he was changing out clips vs. drums of ammo.

Based on the rate of fire I do *not* think it was a heavy barrel full auto machine gun (like an M240 or its variants)

Videos I saw would suggest bigger clip than M16/AR15, don't know a whole lot about guns but I immediately thought heavy MG. Saw some reports that it was multiple weapons that he was switching out. Certainly sounded like two different guns...

The police do a great job on the Strip imo. It is remarkably safe given all the people, alcohol, and money constantly moving through.

Vegas is full of soft targets. It's the reality here. Hopefully this doesn't change how the city operates, but I'm sure it will.

Ok. I have to admit, at first, I thought this was a poorly placed joke about how Dan Bilzerian is always everywhere, esp Vegas, and always has a girl by his side treating her like an object (and in this case, as a body-armor).

But I just found out you were not joking, and that there is actually video footage he posted of him fleeing the scene and giving account of said girl getting shot...

And a rather disturbingly casual account of it, if you ask me...like he is the only person I can imagine who would be at that concert and give such an insensitive reaction to the tragedy that just occurred a foot away from him, when he could have just as easily been the victim with their "*$%*ing brains hangin' out", as he put it.

What a horrible thing.

It was crazy when this news was breaking. There were reports of shots being fired everywhere. Sounded like an orchestrated attack that was occurring at multiple hotels along the strip at the same time.

To be fair he's probably just making it up and saw nothing except the chance to get his name out there again.

While not anywhere near the same scale as this, Let’s not forget the guy who killed someone on the strip/bus and took hostages back in March.

The fact is you can’t prevent stuff like this. I mean it makes no sense for a civilian to have military assault weapons, except to enrich gun makers, but all anyone has to do is have more guns pre-loaded and ready to go.

Just sad and heartbreaking. People trapped with no options. That feeling of helplessness and hopelessness.

The cowardly, sick puppy who did this accomplished nothing. Just a sad, wee, wimpy, sob.

That's been my point since last night..... if he had military assault weapons, he either had them illegally or he jumped through all the federal hoops to get one and it takes at least 9-12 months for all the FBI background checks etc. You don't go to Bass Prob and buy something like this. You do a pile of federal paperwork, submit your fingerprints, pay the tax and wait. And it's the same process over and over for every single NFA related item you buy.

Again, not politicizing this. Just stating facts. This guy either stole them or he'd passed the FBI anal cavity search. Or obviously he could have bought them illegally from some underground/illegal operation or even less likely he could have converted a semi-auto to full auto but that's not at all common, nor is it something I'd expect some random guy like this to be able to pull off unless he was a real "gun guy" per se.

It's definitely going to be interesting to hopefully find out what weapons he used, where he got them and what in the heck this crazed guy's motive was. This seems like it was a well orchestrated attack.
