It is way more useful to the people wanting to know what it actually costs, that don't have passive income streams...

I would estimate nut at 2000-2500, depending on miscellaneous spending.

At my job, I could make more money by working nights and weekends doing basically the same thing I do now. I don't really want to work nights and weekends though, so I choose not to. That means I make less money and I'm ok with that.

If you don't want to grind nights and are willing to accept a smaller "paycheck" then dont work nights. Not everything is about making the most most possible money. (although it is usually towards the top of the list for poker players)

GL 2 U!

Looking forward to your updates esp. your observations on the quality of the games ( NL I assume?) at different times during your stay.

What will you be playing? 1/2 2/5 5/10 NL or something else?

I think the plan is awesome and I hope it goes well. That being said, I agree that sitting in the casino for 8+ hours a day could be draining. Hopefully not as many smokers during the times you play as well.

Poker rooms are non-smoking and unless you sit all the way towards the casino floor, it’s usually not a problem in the larger rooms.

I am annoyed by smoke walking through the casino on the way to and from the poker room, but once you are in there, the worst thing that can happen is the guy sitting next to you coming back from a smoke break.

I understand what you are trying to say but I don't think it translates well. Poker isn't zero sum and everyone starts at a disadvantage because of the rake. In other words, if you play with people that are exactly as skilled as you then you won't break even, you will be a slight loser long term because of rake.

Not game selecting properly doesn't just reduce your hourly win rate it could be the difference between making money and being a loser in the game. There are many good players so you need to game select properly.

Skipping out on late weekend hours is just too much value to leave on the table. The edges are close in poker and if a player is serious you need to do everything possible to tip the odds in your favour. You don't need to stay up till 2 every night but you should be willing to stay in some good games late Friday/Saturday night. If not, you might want to consider a different way of making money.

It is grueling trying to grind out a profit playing weekday poker in Vegas.
