Agree with recommendations for Valley of Fire hiking, it's easily accessible and quite nice.

On the way to Death Valley up by Beatty is a ghost town called Rhyolite. If you're into that sort of thing, it can be interesting to wander around the old buildings.

Could go up to Rachel to see the aliens too. Not really worth it IMO.

Just realized you'll be in town the weekend of 11/06 when Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant fight at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

If that's your thing, there aren't many crazier things in Vegas than big fight weeks. I've never seen the MGM Grand as tightly packed as during the events on the days leading up to Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto in November 2009. The fight itself obviously won't be cheap but unless Covid changes things, there will be a lot of free or super cheap events before that like press conference, public sparring and weight-in. Especially Mexican fans tend to turn those into huge parties.

Back to the subject of free / inexpensive activities.
On hiking, you could consider joining a hiking group on Meetup or something similar, then you wouldn't have to worry about whether or not it's safe alone in trails.

The Seat Filler program House Seats has a 60 day membership for $39. Supposedly it's only for residents of the Las Vegas area, but I don't know if they do anything to verify that. If you can get the 60 day membership, that gives you access to a variety of crappy shows and comedy clubs for no extra charge. It occasionally gives you access to good shows as well. The number of shows available is still less than pre Covid, but it's been bouncing back.

On the people watching front, there used to be a few benches in front of PH. Not sure if still there.

When I was gambooled out, used to go to the CVS next door, buy a beer, and just sit, relax, and watch the world go by.

The CVS just North of Bally's? Right next to PH are a Walgreens and ABC store I think.

There's also the pretty nice CVS next to Park MGM where I sometimes get a beer and then just chill on the Strip.

It must be the Walgreens. I also don't know the benches, but it might be where the Chick-fil-A currently is?

IIRC (it's been a couple years), the CVS was between Paris and Bally's.

The benches were just slightly south of that.

Fight night can be really good for the pokerz. Stay sober, get a nap or two in then bum hunt the drunks after the fight.

PHO poker room had the best spot to watch all the young lovelys go by in the mall entrance way, I would sit there for that anytime.
