My wife and I will be flying from Des Moines to LV in two days. Staying at Park MGM til Friday. It's our 4th trip this year (Jan/Apr/Jul) so we've seen Vegas in various stages of "lockdown." I'll have shoes and BR pic uploaded soon (the pics will look strangely similar to July's TR pics).

Plans so far include dinner reservations at Lotus of Siam and Mayfair Supper Club, tickets to America's Got Talent (I musta been naked when I agreed to this), and many poker sessions. She has some spa stuff scheduled but I wasn't really listening to the details. My friend Matt will fly in on Monday and we'll play some tourneys at MGM/Caesar's/Resorts World. I'll play cash games too. Probably visit the Rio to buy some merch too.

It took about 25 minutes from parking spot to gate. Love these small airports and online check in. Looking forward to Eggs Benedict at Mon Ami and a breakfast sandwich at Eggslut. Would love to try the Peppermill but haven’t figured out how to work that in.

As far as poker goes, I’ve been card dead for a month or so. Managed to break even for those sessions but that’s mainly cuz people think I’m really tight so I can make some moves to pick up pots here and there. Only seems to work against good players though. Lol.

Flight was just under 3 hours. Seats are getting smaller all the time. Skipped Lyft and took a taxi for the first time in many years. Mobile check-in went very smooth. A quick bet on the Rams and up to the room.

Decided on La La Noodle inside Park MGM cuz we’re both starving. Food was awesome. Lobster Shrimp Dumplings. Singapore Style noodles. La La Fried rice (which had lobster, shrimp, and beef in it)

Just settling when I get As8s on button. Guy raises to $22 and three people call so I put my chips in. Flop is Ks3s8c. It checks around to me and I briefly consider firing at the pot but decided against it. The check-raise reflex kicked in. The turn was 3c and Mr Main Event bet $45 and one guy called in front of me. Again I thought about making a move but just didn’t do it. I called. River was Ac and they both checked. I kept thinking “we’re not in Iowa anymore Toto” so I checked and flipped over my ace. They both mucked. Sometimes I’m such a poker pussy. And the main event guy went to play PLO. Updated stack.

When I get to Vegas I’m always reminded of the numerous players that sit down, dust off $300, and leave. It’s like the tables are flowers in a field and the bees land long enough to pollinate and then they’re gone. Where do they go?

I called several raises set mining with pocket pairs. Finally hit one and felted a smaller stack. Hit and run after 2.5 hours. My profit here probably covered the wife’s trip to Planet 13. I wasn’t supposed to mention that. She didn’t spend much there at all really. I prefer the old memories of a much less complicated high. Heading to CVS to stock up on necessities.

Yum. food looks great. I really like Mon Ami Gabi. The prices are reasonable, good food, great location. I think they have a $20 corkage fee, too, which is inexpensive for Vegas. This was a few years ago, though.
