This year has been rather favorable (insert Neeme Meme), i started out with a few good cash game sessions, and booked up a trip to 888 as above, where i run like dog **** for 6 days, and managed to book a small win on the trip after winning 10k in 5/5 PLO in the last night. I took that profit and went to Dublin for the Irish Open, I managed a min cash in the main event, and a decent win at the best cash games i have ever played, and to finish it off a 3rd place in a 350euro side event for 7.2k win (biggest live cash)

fast forward to today, im typing this up with 2 weeks to go until i depart on my 10.5 hour flight to Las Vegas! Im currently signed off work due to a foot injury which is nearly healed, the bonus is i have put in a huge volume at teh tables the past 2 weeks, and that worked out well because im £16,299 richer after my 2nd place finish at the £300 london poker championship event at the Victoria Casino last night. That marks my now biggest live tournament win and gives my bankroll a big boost in the run up to Vegas



my itinerary
I depart London Gatwick May 23rd at 10.30am via Virgin Atlantic for Las Vegas, where i stay at Treasure Island for 4 nights with a good friend and his wife, before driving to LA for 5 nights staying at the Ramada in the Commerace area, will do the usual sights and deff hit the Bike and Commerace for poker action. then its a short flight back to LV where i stay at Ellis Island for 16 nights on my own, before some friends from the London poker scene start arriving. Also, added bonus, a few work colleages are in vegas during my stay celebrating a 40th birthday, so expect a couple of wild nights + pool partys!

• play at least 1 WSOP event
• not to gain weight during this trip
• not too much drinking - doctors orders
• profit $7000+ after my stay = extending trip for 2 weeks+

bankroll
daily result - £16,299
total TBC (probably $20k)

Good luck but question why Ellis Island? The super 8 motel attached to Ellis Island only seems fit for hookers and there tricks. If you want to stay close to strip but off I'd recommend the Tuscany Suites a few guys on here seem to like that place.

OP, agree w/above - now that you're flush from your tournament score, look into an upgrade ASAP. Even if you have to stay in the cheap dumps like Flamingo or Harrah's, they're a close walk to the shuttle that goes to the Rio. Ellis Island is going to cost you a lot more in transportation, unless you like long walks in 100 degree heat.

Also, remember to declare your cash to Customs and fill out the form.

Is it really that bad?

I actually stayed in tuscany in 2011, current prices are...

Tuscany $1900 inc fee
Ellis Island $1100 inc fee (upgraded room)

Is it worth the extra? Given my use is just too sleep and shower i just chose the cheapest option, and tuscay / ellis island are next door to each other.

Also, im likely to have a rental car for most of my stay

I'm total cheapskate and stay downtown at the Main Street Station which is less than $60/night and even I wouldn't stay at the Super 8 at EI.

You have a car so that's good. I guess try it but I'd consider going elsewhere.

On closer inspection these 2 are actually the same place as you mention, think i will take a closer look at tuscany, shame the resort fee really bumps the price up

after a few comments here and a bit of digging, decided to book tuscany instead, my friend has just booked it and there was a slight discount compared to the prices i saw when i first looked. thanks for your pointers guys

seriously though - WP on the great cashes and will be following your TR.

That's about half of my shoes/trainers, i have safety boots for work so my normal trainers last for a while, some are from my trip in 2011 when i took advantage of the strong £ v $ (1.68 iirc) and the cheap price in the outlets, a pair of air force ones cost me approx £27 vs the current £75+ they are now.

Holy cow, +326.41 due at the Ellis Island hotel. Those guys have the nerve to charge a resort fee?

Also, you might check Tuscany's website directly every few days. Prices often change from day to day.

Not such good days when you lived in the UK, but got payed in US dollars.

Nice run in Irish open. Gives you the extra padding for Vegas.

Any plan to sell some of your tournament action? Might help you with the expenses.

May get a package together worth approx $6/7k but likely i will sell/swap with friends. Always like the idea of selling a small %, gives me extra incentive to do well.

Thanks, this report will be much better in regards to pictures and updates as this tapatalk app makes it 100x easier to upload photos straight from my phone rather than using a laptop to upload each one (always had bad wifi when staying away on the last 2 trips)

where are you going to be playing at sir?

My first 4 days are going to be more enjoying the other things vegas has to offer. First real poker will be at Commerce, vegas wise a variety of places, Rio for a couple WSOP $1000-$1500 events, and also the $565 holdem and omaha events, and deff the Wynn and Venitian for a couple tournaments

Exact schedule not decide but will be posting updates of what i plan on playing nearer the time (doubt will be anything bigger than $1500 unless i have another decent score)
