Just doing a quick rake update. Please correct me if I’m wrong

Wynn $5
Venetian $5 + $1
Treasure Island $4 $2 not sure
Harrahs $5 + $2
Mirage $5 + $1
Ceasers $5
Flamingo $5 + $1?
ballys $5 + $2
Planet Hollywood $5 + $1
Bellagio $5
Aria $5
Mgm $5 + $2?
Excalibur $5 + $1
Mandalay Bay $5 + $2?

The rake I’m pretty sure, the jackpot drop I’m not that sure

Flamingo and Mirage are both 5 + 2.

Harrahs, Flamingo, and MGM all take the first promo dollar as soon as there is a flop, even if pot is just $4. The second dollar is taken at 30 for Harrahs and Flamingo and 50 at MGM.

As far as I know the rest of rooms take the first promo dollar at $10.

Golden Nugget is $4 +1

Pretty sure Caesars is the only $4

can somebody list the strip rooms who take an extra drop where it *doesn't* go towards some sort of weekly/monthly freeroll with an hours requirement? no interest in subsidizing the tunnel dwelling 1/2 grinders

Not anymore. $5 is correct. And no promo drop.

Anyone know what rooms use a time charge and at what limits?

Bellagio has time charge for 20/40 limit and above. For NL I think 5/10 and above but not sure.

I thought this thread was going to be about the rooms going to $6 rake.

I'm aware that residents of Las Vegas play on the strip; but, I am curious as to what the breakdown is in regards to visitors vs residents in the strip poker rooms. Having promo drops for rooms with greater Las Vegas resident participation seems logical. For poker rooms where the majority of players are visitors, a promo drop seems kind of unethical (don't know if that is too strong a description).

Anyway, thanks for the update on rake. Hope this post is not a hijack.

The biggest rooms for tourists are the ones listed above with no promo drop, plus Venetian, which didn't have a promo drop until very recently.

Way too strong. Just because tourists come and go, some tourist is still more likely win the promo than a regular. That is, unless the promo is of the type where you need a certain number of hours of play to qualify, or paid at a later date (such as a "free" tourney entry). But the regulars will eventually discover those promos with all that "dead" money and populate those games (both because of the promos and easier games).

Not that many here would play there, but I recently played at Sam's Town on Boulder Highway, and the rake was only $3..

I noticed at Bellagio that some dealers throw a red chip into the thing on the flop even if there's only 30-40 bucks in the pot.

Would be a good idea to put next to each room what the jackpot drop funds.

Like Ballys 4 + 2 - 20 hours played weekly freeroll and bad beat jackpot. (not sure if that's true)

Dealers should never be removing any rake in the middle of the hand; they should be setting it off to side, and waiting until the hand is over to drop it.

Sometimes dealers will temporarily set a red chip off to the side for rake even when the pot hasn't reached the $5 threshold. But if the pot remains lower than this threshold at the end of the hand, they will make change from this chip and put the appropriate amount back in the pot before dropping the rest.

all that would accomplish is even more inaccuracies, plus the most up to date info is already on bravo with respect to promos.

Clearly now a market for a Strip room to move to $4 or $4+$1, but only if they get the word out. Maybe give Neeme/Brad/Polk a fee for an appearance & vlog promo. I'm thinking Excal or Strat (not sure if Strat is $5?)

What's stopping a more marginal room having 1 quieter day of the week where it's only $2+$1, filling the room, creating some buzz, and getting the momentum going for high hand & bad beat jackpots?

The average person who always plays at the lowest raked place available, has no idea who those people are. Best case, they mistake one of them for their grandson.

Caesars was a horrible nitfest before they moved to $5. The last player I want in my game is one who cares if rake is $4 or $5.

It still is pretty bad since it’s the only 1/2 game that gives you 34 tier and $2 an hour in comps.

It seems that slot machines make casinos more money than poker table rakes do. So they want to keep poker rooms small with lower payroll.
