You, too ?
link is broken but I shall stipulate to the fact I play below average.

Other players should hire a limo and a hottie to bring me to poker every night, it will be +ev.

How did you come up with that?

Maybe things have changed tremendously over the last couple years after they switched from 1-2 to 1-3, I haven’t played at Venetian in at least 3 years because I got annoyed of having to change tables 5 times before finding a good one. But in the past, Venetian was probably significantly closer to “worst action on the Strip” than to “best action for 1/3”.

Assuming he is just looking at Bravo and has seen them running a lot of games during promo hours and equates that to the most action.

And..if so...they will be quite disappointed to get there and learn that running a lot of tables filled with promo nits is NOT the same thing as the most action. But everyone has to live and learn...

I always wanted to check out the golden nugget but obviously don't want to play with a bunch of old nits (I've never played there but it looks cool old vegas n all)

Checked out the wynn last weekend and got clobbered mostly due to bad play on my part so now looking for a "soft" place to lick my wounds

Where do ya'all recommend for some 1/2 action?
1/2 is pretty much the same everywhere, it varies from terrible to smokin' hot. Pro-tip: Don't whine about any particular demographic group. All you do is shoot yourself in the foot in the long run.

Solid advice I ended going to the red rock and booked a small win over a period of about 4 hrs

Pros
-free parking don't have to hassle with validation
-parking very close to poker room
-friendly atmosphere both player and dealers
-a lot of limped pots

Cons
-i called into the wait list before arriving and still had to wait half hour to get seated
-cocktail service made rounds every hour or so and took forever to get drinks. seemed understaffed

Opinions on massages anyone....

I personally never got one at a poker room but was curious of how much they charge

$2/min. I'd rather take a break for an hour or two and get a real massage, much more relaxing than at the table.

Not sure when u were playing, but I typically play at the Red Rock on Fri-Sat nights and rarely have had a problem with drink service. Tip: tip in advance on your first drink and they will keep them coming (obv give a small tip on subsequent drinks)

also agree on the friendly atmosphere...most comfortable poker room in Vegas imho.

I usually give a redbird on the first drink, superior service for the rest of the night

downside - I wind up drinking too much

If your objective when you go to Vegas is to make money playing poker, don't ever play 1/2 NL. 1/3 is a stretch but you need to be playing 2/5. The rake + Vegas having toughest/most nitty games in the world means if you're a pretty good player you're making the equivalent hourly of a Mcdonald's employee - except Mcdonald's employees qualify for benefits and you don't.

Oh, I always thought Vegas had the softest games in the world?

I've played 1/2 at a few different states. Vegas is soft as they come weekend and nights. Dude shoving blind once an orbit. People calling on the river with nut flush no paired board no straight flush possiblity. Another drunk guy who was nice having a good time would show you one of his cards anytime you asked if it was heads up. Obv you wanna aim for higher games. But all this was in a span of a few days. Not to mention the countless people who buyin for 100, dump and and keep rebuying for 100.

Vegas games are softer than most places. The problem you run into is local nits and OMCs in 4 of the 10 seats at the 1/2 & 1/3 level playing with a $60-100 stack. The games are easy, there's just not enough money on the table to sustain a good living at LLNL in Vegas.

Perhaps, but OMCs dont play at 2am much. And im not gonna debate about anything of sustaining a living. What im saying is its super super ****ing easy to beat the rake if you always play after 8pm.

I agree with you 100 percent. Just responding directly to the person I quoted.

Depending on which room you are in, expect a dollar or two per minute. Most seem to start with 20 minutes and I have seen some people go for an hour.

I have had a few tableside and find that it definitely can help with getting out some knots but it will also be a distraction from playing for however long you are getting the massage LOL!

My suggestion regarding tableside massages: take a look at the fat hairy slobs getting massaged- often under the shirt- then decide if you want sloppy seconds.

Everyone I have seen doing the massages is washing/sanitizing their hands between clients...if they were NOT doing so, that would certainly be a concern.

I'm assuming you vacationed there and went during times when Vegas games are better. I'm talking about year-round, what the median game is like at 1/2 and 1/3, and the games are definitely worse in Vegas than most, if not all, other locations in the US. This is just a personal opinion.

Your first sentence and the rest of your post directly contradict each other.

Umm.... A soft game and a deep game are not mutually exclusive. Vegas low level NL has a ton of soft players with low bankrolls.

I don't know what your interpretation of that original post was, but I thought it was clear.

I'm defining the quality of games by what you can make hourly. You're going to be making a lower hourly rate in Vegas than you would be elsewhere.

That’s certainly true, but most places where you can make a significantly higher hourly don’t offer those games 24/7.

There aren’t many cardrooms in the US outside of Vegas and LA that even offer game selection at 9AM on a Tuesday morning. And in the ones that do, your hourly probably won’t be that much higher than in LV.
