Someone tell this man the current spot for a $60 nightly tournament.

Just an outside of the box suggestion so that your broke brother can get rip roaring drunk and play some poker w/o having to pony up more money than he is comfy with in a significantly more relaxed casino poker environment than normal
Whoa, that's pretty cool. A couple friends will be joining so we'll have 6 people, maybe this could work- thanks.

Cheers but not sure a tournament is the way to start off for a 21 year old with zero poker experience.

I'd argue it's the perfect way. His loss is capped and with a bit of run good could book a "big" win.

$60 tournaments in vegas will likely have a much weaker player pool than whatever 2/4 limit game filled with nit reg comp hunters you find.

My older cousins remember 1/2 limit at the Oaks Club. They say if staggering out to the parking lot in glorious Emeryville CA at 7 am after playing 1/2 limit all night, and losing, isn't enough to get you to rethink your life, nothing will.

Pre-arrange it with a poker room manager. Aria on a Saturday night is much less likely to say yes, so also check smaller rooms that are hungry for business. Explain to everyone playing how tipping works, and that they need to do it on every hand.

No tournaments. One guy will get knocked out in the first 5 minutes and then be bummed.

Get a private table, tell the poker room manager you'll have 6 guys (or however many) and the manager will make it a 6 max table. A legal way to make sure nobody crashes the party. You probably want to tip the manager too, obv.

Thanks to all for the replies and suggestions. Had a great time but couldn't get into a game, the wait lists at Orleans and Nugget were moving slow and the games looked dreadful anyway, and no go getting our own table. Caesars buffet was booked solid. Beware a cannabis joint called The Plug on the strip which misleadingly sells CBD not THC weed. Lost our asses until getting lucky at roulette of all things, then won a bit at craps. Nephew hit a $450 slot jackpot on an 88 cent bet on the last day so he's the only one who came out ahead. The strip sidewalks were relatively quiet but Fremont Street was hopping. Went hiking at the Valley of Fire about an hour from the strip, it was pretty cool and fortunately not that hot (low 90s).

If you want a private game you don't go to a super busy room. You go to the Flamingo or the Westgate or the Sahara.

Cheers, we had a blast. The Valley of Fire was great because there weren't many people, so at times it felt like we were alone on another planet.

Good to know, thanks. We didn't put too much effort into it because we really didn't want a private game, we were hoping my cousin could experience playing with random poker degens lol.
