Question Questions About Staking

Hey everyone, so for my senior year of high school I'm writing a paper about Poker Staking and how it affects the lives of poker hobbyists and professionals. One of the requirements is doing a research poll/interview about the subject. So here are a couple of open-ended questions that I would really appreciate if you took the time to answer. Keep it as short or as long as you want and feel free to skip any question.

1. What are your thoughts on the makeup practice in staking? Do you consider makeup to be a real debt? As a player when do you prefer selling percentages of action to being staked? Have you ever been a backer or a horse?

2. What are your thoughts on setting your markup properly? How do you feel about poker celebrities like Johnnie Moreno using inflated markups as a way for fans to show support?

3. How do you feel about crowdfunded staking sites like YouStake and StakeKings? Do you think crowdfunded staking is mostly just good for fans to interact with professional poker or do you think it will become the primary method of staking in the future?

4. Do you have anything else you want to add about staking?

Thanks again for your time!

Makeup is sometimes the only fair way for investors to profitably invest so it's fine. It should and I do count it as real debt. I've been staked and sold percentage of action before and I still prefer staking when there's coaching involved because it's the only way for interests to be completely alligned. I've only been a horse.

2. What are your thoughts on setting your markup properly? How do you feel about poker celebrities like Johnnie Moreno using inflated markups as a way for fans to show support?

It's the free market and everyone's able to sell for whatever makeup they want. That being said, I think it's pretty shady to use celebrity and ignorace to enrich yourself.

3. How do you feel about crowdfunded staking sites like YouStake and StakeKings? Do you think crowdfunded staking is mostly just good for fans to interact with professional poker or do you think it will become the primary method of staking in the future?

The problem with the current sites are that they're simply not good/don't make sense for good players to use. Part of that is the monetization model of these sites where they take a % of the stake in exchange for listing you. I prefer staking with no middleman.

4. Do you have anything else you want to add about staking?

These answers have been really helpful! I've used everything you've said in the paper! I especially found your opinion on staking sites to be very interesting. Thank you so much for helping!
