This is actually my first post here so I will try not to mess it up to bad. Though this post doesn't really belong in the coaching advice section, I couldn't find a better place for this post so that is why I am posting this here. I don't want this post to end up being a bad beat mixtape so i'll try to keep my hand analysis to a minimum throughout this post. Though I wouldn't be opposed to showing a graph of hands if someone would be willing to tell me how.

Swings are inevitably apart of poker and are obviously quite necessary. Without swings, none of the so called fish would even bother playing. Lately, I have just been struggling to handle these swings. Obviously, bad beats happen to everyone and is a part of the game. I can handle a few bad beats but struggle when multiple happen within a short period of time. I know at the poker table, we are supposed to stray away from having/showing emotion at the poker table. However, I have found it increasing difficult to withstand the emotion that comes to losing several buyins while making positive ev plays.

I am currently trying to build my rolls on several different sites but can't seem to find even moderate success on any of them. Once things seem to be going in a positive direction for me, several bad beats end up depleting my bankroll and I am all the way back to square one. It is like my opponents hitting 1,2, or 4 outers on me as become the norm instead of happening a relatively small percentage of the time.

This post isn't about proving or stating how bad I run; rather, any help or any tips on how to improve br management, avoiding tilt, or help in any other area would be awesome. I have read several books and articles on these subjects but can't seem to improve. Any help in any area would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi, please feel free to contact me by PM if you're looking for a coach. Ideally coaching should save you a lot of time, grief and money and accelerate your ability to improve in your own time outside of actual coaching sessions.

My special area of focus is mindset, which I provide a specific service for. Maintaining one's A game during bad beats is a part of this for sure. Sometimes it feels like bad beats happen far more than they are due to in % terms. This will sometimes happen for short periods of time, of course, but in the long run it will even out. Perceiving it as not evening out is due to a bias in our memory, it's part of human nature. We remember the times we suffered beats, not the times we delivered them or that they failed to arrive.

You may also need to focus on an area of study or a specific format and figure out where your leaks are. I coach both cash game and MTTs so I may be able to help with strategy study too. BR Management should be a relatively easy aspect to set up in good standing, can also advise on that.

Best,

Luke
