Long time player seeking coaching advise.

Hi,

I've been playing online for about 15 years although I've only gotten back in to it recently due to isolation because if covid 19, but it's safe to say I've got the bug again.

I'm a winning player playing PLO and PLO8/NLO8 micro-mid MTT's, I have a history of playing NLH but haven't played it for many years.

I'm a break even/small profit cash game player and have always struggled with online cash games which is mainly why I generally play tournaments. Although I'm happy playing tournaments I'd love to be able to regularly beat a cash game of any stake.

I love the Omaha games but am more than happy to switch back to holdem if it's the right thing to do for my win rate.
Unfortunately I'm not much of a studier and have always found it hard to work on my game and tend to lean towards playing when investing my time in the game .

So with all that being said I'd really love some advice from like minded players and what they would advise in order to improve my game without having to do hours and hours on end of database analysis.

Thanks

Gdez

Re: Long time player seeking coaching advise.

Hi Gdez,

You have to view studying from a different angle. Even though you aren't directly making money when you study, you are increasing your win rate for when you do play.

I believe the times I did the best I would play 1/3 of the time and study 2/3 of the time. There's endless things you can do these days to study so you need to find whats right for you.

Database/sim work is tedious but incredibly useful. Watching videos is the opposite, easy to do but not super useful. The best thing you could do is find a good coach to work with and do something like weekly lessons. It will keep you accountable and give you direct feedback on own hands and thought processes.

Hope this helps
