I've been playing online recreationally for the past couple years and recently I've started to take poker more seriously. Studying the game, identifying my weaknesses and working on my mental game. I noticed that the local live games are a lot softer than the online games and so I'm looking to for a site that focusing on live 1/2 and 2/5 cash games to help me transition from online. I've seen that red chip poker has a 1/2 live crash course I thought it might be the right place to start but I'm not sure what else is out there.

Breakeven at NL2 over 30k hands. Started poker seriously online in November. Read a bunch of TGM but struggled to take in so much and apply it all. Bought a RIO essential membership yesterday. Tips on how to get the best out of it?

Read it slower. Play 5k hands every chapter, focus on applying that concept.

the good thing is: It really improve your game. It makes you play different, think different, play and think like a pro player. Also there is a facebookgroup for upswinglab subscriber. To talk with each other about a situation, like a forum with HH review. Good level and feedback from pokerprof players. Also from Doug and Ryan personally! Yes they have facebook.

The bad thing...hmm that's personally for me. It depends per person.
In general I think there are no bad things. With the lab I improved my game and think more better in every situation.

My advice is to contact first the upswing team and ask several questions. And ask for yourself what you exactly want from the upswinglab.

You're welcome!

I thought it was best value for money before but now that they got mynameiskarl to start teaching in the Lab it's slam dunk.

Does anyone else have continued password issues with upswing? I signed up for upswing on Saturday, it's now Tuesday and I've used the site a grand total 1 1/2 days. My password randomly doesn't work, the PW reset function doesn't email me a temp, I email support, they make a temp, then my password doesn't work for me. The website is super janky.

I too am having a problem, it doesn't say my pw failed and it will let me reset it. It just doesn't let me log on. I log in and it takes me right back to the homepage like it did log me in but it does not. I've cleared cookies and everything.

Technically I do. Before upswinglab I was really noob about thinking in range, putting a player on a range, calculating the odds, understanding the value of Position (!) (IP and OOP), and how to play your hands. I mentioned this already; Its an A to Z course. That's means they start really from the basic with some of pokerterms, position on table.
The good thing is you can skip that if already know that and go immiadatly to the next level.
Mentally I'm f..d up and need some time. But this is personally and it depens on players.
I need to find a balance to play poker and do 'some of nice things' outside poker.

To be honest I dont focus now on my result. I believe If I keep playing well (and control my tilt mind) the resullt come true. But I can say that I run deeper more often. (mostly somewhere between 200-500 players)

It's focused on online but it's not like you won't be able to beat live if you can beat online.
They do have preflop ranges for various situations specifically for live as well as live play and explains.

I got Upswing Poker through a free trial and have upgraded to the full year.

Def think its worth it for anyone playing 200NL and below.

However there are something that I am confused/worried about

1. Seems like Doug makes a lot of exceptions for himself in some of the videos. Like he bluffs with air a lot, even though the course says no. Gives his own reasoning (which Im sure is legit), but it would be pretty confusing for a 10NL player whoever.

2. Sizing is so inconsistent. Sometimes its an overbet, sometimes its small and sometimes its normal. I realise every situation requires a different size. In of the examples, he check raises turn, then bets half pot with a value hand on the riv. Same thing happens, except he shoves with a bluff. Again, I'm sure Doug has his own reasoning behind it, but its not really clear to the viewer.

One of the rules is bet bigger on wet textures and smaller on dry. However he flops a straight on T98hh (I think), and bets small. A lot of little contradictions that would confuse a lot of people.

3. Every draw pretty much means our stack is in. Not sure if this is right or wrong, but Doug seems like its standard. We always have more draws than sets, so not sure if this balanced or not.

4. We call down with top pair A LOT. Again, not sure if this is just my nit brain, but something just doesnt seem right if we have AQ in the small blind on A349T board and he barrells F and T, jams R, we are just meant to go "ah well we have to call because we checked" line.

These could all be standard in 2016/2017, but my brain from 2013 cant comprehend lol.

Overall though, I like the setup and the website is pretty slick. I prefer it to RIO because of the vast amount of coaches that all have different ideas. However if you are a baller looking to 1KNL, yeah Upswing is not for you.
