I'm a novice NLHE full ring microstakes player who has been playing sporadically on & off over the past year and am pretty much just breaking even at 10NL. I've read (well, skimmed) a couple of the classic poker books out there, I participate a little bit in the forums, and I'm planning to do more of both going forward ... but I'm also intrigued by the idea of learning via training videos too (in addition to reading). Like many people I'm sure, I think I learn things best when the info comes from a variety of sources in multiple formats -- that is, through a combination reading, interaction w/ other people, visual observation, writing ... blah blah blah.

Anyhow, I think I've narrowed down the options to Deuces Cracked, Card Runners, Blue Fire Poker, and Drag The Bar.

So the question is which one is best these days for a NLHE full ring micros player who is somewhat comfortable w/ the basics of the game, who wants to get better at and move beyond the micros ... and who's eager to learn.

(Btw, I'm about to sign up for the free trials this week, and am aware of the different pricing plans, etc., but I figured I'd throw this out to you guys. Thanks!)

(and i've listened to the 2+2 podcast many times as well as been a guess about a dozen times, and i agree that mike and adam are very professional, but i promise you they like to have a good time as well-- i am unsure what makes their podcast more professional than ours, since i've been the host on all of them and am confident in that free content)
Podcasts =/= actual videos.

Leggo is very good. Nutsinho vids easily justify 1 year membership alone.

Any tournament poker edge (TPE) members on here? Recently joined and while early indications suggest the content looks good and the approach is innovative when you download their videos to Iphone the image is too blurry to make out stack sizes etc. If an instructer has 4 tables on the go you cant even make out the cards...

Very strange as no one seems to be making mention of it....anywhere. Could be doing something wrong in the download process but I doubt it.

I can't speak for the phone thing, but I went and checked them out after all the reviews in this thread, listened to their podcast http://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/podcasts/ and was INSTANTLY hooked! Signed up with them just based off their podcast, and was further surprised at how awesome the content and the folks are over there!!!

Thanks for all the advice in the thread on the subject...really helped me narrow it down!

Dark...try contacting them directly and asking them. I don't think I have waited more than a half hour for a response on any of my questions.

When I was looking for a training site this was a factor in me not going with Leggo. Sounds like a bunch of jack ass kids laughing at a joke only they understand. What do you expect. They are professional online players, its not like they know how to run or conduct a business. I'm sure when they see the videos/ podcast they produce they say. "its gold jerry" cause everybody is huberistic about there own thoughts. You've pointed out some very relevant points and you contrasted them with better examples and he is still like, "we just want to have fun dude... your so lame..."

Oh well the market place will decide...

^The marketplace pretty much has, leggo is a popular site because its cash NL content is some of the best out there. The podcasts are free content, they shouldn't detract from the videos if you don't like them for whatever reason, same for aejones' jokey demeanour. His character obviously won't appeal to everyone but the poker analysis in his vids is solid, and there are many other excellent video producers that don't include humour in vids, e.g bttech86 and luckychewy

I been wondering what do you guys think of pokerpwnage becoming pocket fives training ?

"PocketFives Training is a perfect fit for taking over PokerPwnage. Pocketfives brings with it a wealth of tournament or MTT poker training experience and a huge user base. P5′s is the biggest tournament poker community on the internet and that brings with it a huge base of talent to draw from to educate its new user base. PocketFives is know for their extensive tournament player rankings which rank the top players from all over the world in an independent way. This acquisition should help solidify P5s as the go to source for MTT poker training."

from the poker trainging guide..
but i don't see any prices.

P5 and Pwnage are an absolute perfect fit for two dying communities that desperately need sub bases for each other. It will be nice to see both ships go down together! Nothing like watching two burning ships hitch a ride on one another Can't think of two sites that deserve each other more!!!

Maybe UB can make the pwnage guys pro's now and they can slap some more UB banner ads all over their site...wait even better...maybe the pwnage guys could get UB avatars for their table logos! Yea that would be sweet!

Got a 6 month suspension from P5's for trying to mention another training site on it. A mod took down my post without saying a word to me about why and all I said in a thread was, "not cool..." THAT WAS IT, those 2 words....6 month suspension with IP ban. Yea that's a site you want to learn from or go to for training!!!

Why anyone would want to get involved with either nazi site is beyond me! There is a reason why both sites suck so badly and their traffic has declined so much...just go find out for yourself...LMAO!

hmm.
it really isnt' about how good is the p5 forums, but more about where all the mtts videos went that did get good reviews from poker training review sites.

i was hoping the pricing would be differnt but the pricing is the same as pwnage was ,, aka the 35 dollar sign up fee.

Cardrunners got their trulyfreepokertraining thing.
Do SNGgrinders got the same?

Do I have to sign rakeback at them to get it free or can I do like I did on Cardrunners and just enter my screen name?

I think CR is the only place that has a program like that (and it is with Full Tilt only I believe).

For SNGgrinders the instructions on their rakeback page says $350 MGR (paid rake after any deductions) is required during any calender month to earn a free membership ($500 on FTP).

You'll see similar #s from most training sites ranging from 100 MGR to 500 MGR generally.

Yes, every training site has that.

CR's is irrespective if you signed up on FTP through their affiliate, which is why it is unique. For most other sites (all that I am aware of) you must sign up through them in order to receive any rewards.

The difference is that those deals require a new signup at the cardroom through those sites.

The DragTheBar deal with Party does not require a new account, its just like the CR/FTP deal.

Wasn't aware of that, thanks for the correction Hunter.

You need to promote that better, maybe "TotallyNotCostly Poker Training"

We know of TFPT, but not TNCPT!

Greetings

I'm looking into Deepstacks.com as a training site and I wanted to know if people had an experience with that site that they would like to share. I'm looking into sharpening my game and turning myself back into a winning player again for both cash games and tournaments and I'd love any opinions that you would like to share.

If I can give any information that would be helpful I would be more than happy to do this too.

Thanks!
