FWIW: You're allowed to respond to serious allegations and correct misinformation, but you're not allowed to advertise your site here. Make sure you toe that line. If someone's opinion is that your reviews aren't accurate, you're not allowed to chime in arguing that your reviews are accurate in your opinion. This is a no-spam zone, but I'm letting you post so far because you're responding to the allegations of the general form of "your site is crooked" which is fair enough to let you respond to.

I think it's pretty clear that your site has a massive conflict of interest in both grading a site and being an affiliate for it, as evidenced by the fact that you're never saying "this site blows, but hey, sign up with code "GGG4" if you do decide to join".

I agree that TrevRobCR comes across as fairly hypocritical to me when the two sites are pretty much exactly the same thing and have the exact same conflict of interest in play.

DC has some solid videos about split and mixed games. I've only checked out the RAZZ ones, and they weren't bad.

PokerCurious is a poker resource website directed at various poker topics for those "curious". Therefor, the site runs off of affiliate revenue from when someone joins a site through them or uses a referral code. To even get to the training site review section, you have to dig through other links, therefore meaning the value of "purchasing" that top spot will not be worth nearly as much simple due to the fact that many people might not even see it. With PokerTrainingGuide members are on that site for the exact purpose of finding information about the best poker training website. This was the first site like this out there, therefore the value of purchasing that top spot is worth more.

Mostly, I know that companies don't purchase spots on PC. It's honest reviews, and I actually helped do some research on these sites, so I can assure you they are failry accurate.

Anytime a sites URL contains anything with training review or guide, be weary. They're aware people are visiting their site for specific reviews and therefore the value of having the training sites purchase those spots increases drastically. Also, if you notice on those other sites, such as pokertrainingguide.com, you'll notice their reviews don't have weaknesses in them and this is because since they're paid for those spots, they are trying to sell them. PokerCurious offers strengths and weaknesses and holds nothing back.

If you want my honest, unbiased opinion, I'd say PokerCurious is the best way to go as far as honest reviews/comparison compared to the other sites. His reviews seem to be fairly accurate besides one or two that I'd tweak the rankings on. I know he's not paid by companies to pimp out that number 1 spot. I hope this clears things up!

A few things to point out

1) Click on poker training on poker curious. See that "Sponsored by Cardrunners and Stox Poker" That is not free advertising.
2) Every training site review on pokertrainingguide has a "Weaknesses" section
3) No training site pays for any higher rankings on ptg, not allowed. Those are completely unbiased.

Again not bashing poker curious, as I believe those rankings are legit, as are the ones on my site. I just don't appreciate being grouped together with sites that don't give you accurate information.

Most of those sites have trial offers, just form your own opinion instead of being spoonfed.

Question: How does a site become a "Featured site" on ptg?

I didn't see this sponsored and if so, it may be biased towards Stox/CR.

However, I can guarantee you PTG gets paid by these sites for top rankings. I've seen it first hand.

An example of a weakness section at your site for a sponsored site:

Quote:
Perhaps the sites only weakness is their lack variety when it comes to games. The main thrust of the site is the No Limit Holden games. If you only play NLH then this is not even a concern. Though they have recently released some introductory videos for mixed games.
An example of the "conclusion" at your site for a sponsored site, which are all emphatic yesses:

Quote:
The current outlook is that [site] has nowhere to go but up, and is a must buy if you are serious about improving your tournament game.
I think you'd have to agree that you have an incentive to cheerlead for advertisements and affiliate revenue. Your reviews are exactly in line with what they would be if they were doing that. I mean, it's not like sites are going to pay to be listed and be panned, are they?

It's pretty ambiguous which content is advertisement and which content is "unbiased reporting". On the left hand side of the page, there's the advertisement that sites are paying to have there, "featured sites", that uses your wording like "The cream of the crop poker training site with top pros". The sites are paying you to have that there. Across on the right side of the page, there's your original content, with the exact same wording. You were again paid to have certain sites in those positions, even if those are not your official rankings, which are, in my opinion, also suspicious.

Again, most of this isn't up for debate between you and me. Feel free to correct factual assertions that I'm mistaken about, but otherwise, this forum is for user discussion, not sites to advertise and argue that they're valuable.

What is the best website or service for watching training videos of the pros playing online? I personally play 4 nights a week live at a house game usually 5/5 or 5/10NLH and I really really like cardrunners videos I have seen a few of them on youtube..... Which one is the best for cash games would you guys say?

If u have any recommendations or experience with any of these let me know I would apreciate it....

If you play mostly 5/5 and 5/10NLH, I think Leggo is your best bet. They offer the most mid-high stakes videos regularly.

DeucesCracked has some great PLO videos and series. They have the largest selection of PLO that I'm aware of. PokerSavvyPlus also has some great PLO series you may want to check out as well.

Also no one has mentioned pokerVT, I've seen adds for it around and about.
I believe the following sites offer a free 7 day trial (Listed in random order):

1. LeggoPoker
2. PokerSavvyPlus
3. DeucesCracked

PokerVT is great for beginners, although there really isn't a wide variety of content.

Regarding the Poker Training Reviews site, I have a small stake in that site. I can tell you that ratings are in no way biased. The reviews were written by poker players who were members of the sites. For smaller sites where players were not members we requested a temporary membership to the site in order to go through some of the videos. If a site didn't agree then they didn't get reviewed.

Bluefire Poker do not pay for their placement on the site nor do any other site.
If people are looking for top of the range NLHE or PLO content then Bluefire is the place to go. So many sites churn out utter cr*p on a daily basis that just mixes in with their already bloated libraries of dull, mediocre content where as Bluefire produce top notch content in pretty much 100% of their videos.

Actually looking at the site, I can't seem to find one review where you might feel we have given a biased review.

Obviously the site is driven by affiliate income which may sway the positioning of sites but this is by no means the only factor we consider. We also rely on credibility and trust rank as big factors. There are numerous sites that pay top commissions such as Royal Flush Club, Cardrunners and Outstanding Poker that we do not list in our top sites.

Atm our top 5 list is Bluefire Poker, DC, Poker Pwnage, PokerSavvyPlus and SitnGoGrinders. The reason for that is BF and DC are the 2 best cash sites atm, Pwnage is the best MTT site, SNGGrinders the best STT and Savvy is just a good all round option.

A quick reminder, again:

Coaching Advice is a no-spam zone. Criticizing a competing company for your own company's benefit is a no-no. You're only allowed to post here to correct blatant factual misinformation about your service and to respond to serious allegations. Otherwise, this is a thread for user discussion and not site promotion, on either side. Keep your responses short and to the point about what misinformation you're correcting.

so after sifting through 5 pages of arguments over whether review sites are biased or not I guess I'll ask again...

sitandgogrinders.com can someone who is/has been a member give a review and a few facts such as how often do they release new content etc? I can see for myself they have a sick lineup of players but that doesn't always mean everything

I am a member of SitNGoGrinders & I can tell you if you play SNG's it's worth it. By the way I wound up being a member thanks to the reviews at pokertrainingguide. I read what they had to say & read up especially on the instructors/video's for the games I play , which happen to be Glitlr, Darinvg & Azntracker & decided to join. I can tell you I for am am happy for both sites as they have helped me move up in buyins.

By the way I started playing $50 buy in's & was playing $3.30's when I joined SitNGoGrinders. I'm currently a regular at $16's & occasionally sit in the $27's. I also signed up for coaching with Glitlr who is an instructor at SitNGoGrinders after watching his video's on the site. Currently done about 5 sessions with him every other week though I missed this weeks.

Sites pay to be a featured site though has no bearing on rankings. Simply means you get more exposure. Feel free to ask Joe how much he has ever paid us for top ranking cash game site and one of the best overall scores. $0

Not only are you questioning my credibility are you now questioning Taylor's? I'm assuming your speaking of CR because of your history, but CR has never paid for higher rankings on PTG. What they have paid for is top positioning on the featured section, which as mentioned above has no bearing on rankings.

What are the best sites/series/videos for learning fullring, for non-beginners? I am beating SSNL HU/6-max pretty well, and am interested in learning FR as well. So series specifically focusing on transitioning from shorthanded games to FR ones would be ideal.

Also, the same question, but for PLO instead of FR?

Thanks.

Does Leggo's DRM still not allow you to watch videos once your subscription ends? I know CRs DRM lets you watch past subscription expiration date (but obviously not DL anything new), and was always kinda put off that Leggo's didn't (really liked the actual content Leggo put out tho, but haven't been a member for a while, considering whether to re-sign or not).

I believe there is a pretty good series on DeucesCracked by Nolan regarding FR. They offer several FR video series.

Secondly, CR recently released a FR video series at the 100/200nl level by Kush, who is a fantastic instructor.

Both are worth checking out.
