After playing poker for 10 years its now time to take my game to the next level or walk away from the game indefinitely. As always most of the time I am happy with how I have played or more so lately I'm frustrated by silly decisions I have made. I don't blame running bad etc very often but I do state to myself consistently that I need more theory!

I have also dramatically changed my diet over the last few months with a focus on plant and nut based foods and juices being a massive part of my new diet with amazing results thus far. I am consistently noticing an increase in energy and less aggression with a much clearer mental state.

Stars MRR100. (consistently a losing player)

I play a lot of the bigs most nights on stars and also 25c/50c 50c cash games.

My understanding of profiling certain players and spots at times is amazing and I am proud of that.
My attitude at times is absolutely piss poor and quite aggressive and extremely tilty.

What I would like to achieve is a better and more mature understanding of the game and most importantly where my leaks are. I would achieve this by reading, discussing and also getting some coaching.

I really enjoy reading and would like some info on what software to use online.

Any help input is very much appreciated.

Make sure your hopes are not set too high. Its going to take a LOT to turn you from a 10 year loser into a winning player. This definitely won't happen overnight.

So be careful with anyone who promises you such things. Also make sure you realise it will take quite a bit of time, and most of all, a lot of work and commitment from you.

Go back to basics. Understand why you bet, when to bet, when to check, when to raise.
There is plenty of free resources, 2+2, PokerVIP, i suppose there is also a ton of paid training sites, RIO, Upswing, Tournament Edge for MTT players.
And of course work on your mental game, you admit you have tilt issues, deal with it or learn to control it, if you can't then maybe its really time to stop playing poker.

Dude, have you never watched a video or spoken with a coach? I'm extremely tilty aggressive with a gigantic ego (3rd in the Hot 55 last night and I was the most pissed I've been in long, still not over it) yet just knowing how to play is enough to win thru. Find the best coach you can afford (by best coach I mean has best results, too many coaches who's win rates are crud) and obv dealing with the mental side is good, I'm trying to do the same, but knowing how to play is far more important.

sent a private message. We're a really good fit. And while you're not as old or as terrible at poker as my grandpa who I just taught the game to, heh, I really like explaining poker to people struggling with some fundamentals, and I'm quite good at doing that.

You might like to read this I just wrote today of me explaining fundamentals to a very strange hand: Whole thread here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/39.../#post49997926

There was an interesting study out of Netherlands or some euro country where they found that fasting was associated with making advantageous gambling decisions. I think it's because fasting gives you a very low and stable blood sugar. Definitely what you eat or what you do not eat has a huge impact on cognitive function.

Be careful a lot of them are just trying to make an easy buck. Make sure you research the ones you contact VERY well. Ask opinions of people you trust as well as the community.

Coaching isnt cheap. Make sure you dont waste your money!

Very true. The coaching market has tons of people who simply can't win at the games anymore but apply the "if you can't do, teach" approach to poker. Super odd market.

I think it's pretty obvious poker is not for you. And imho any coach who says otherwise just wants your $.

choice demonstrates preference; he has played for ten years so probably there are a ton of aspects of the game which he enjoys. I agree that hiring a coach is probably a huge waste of money for him though especially at typical rates charged.

I don't think this is odd at all. Happens in every business that people buy something that is not +ev just because they are tricked by marketing.

@OP: back to basics. start at the lowest limits, watch coaching videos. Many sites out there that are max $30 a month which should provide you with a lot of value.

For the most part people are a pretty good judge of whether or not they will benefit from a trade; certainly they are in a far better position to make this determination than an outside observer would be.

Doesn't matter really, many sites will provide good value for you since you often can get the cheaper subscription on sites where they offer multiple price categories since you are a beginner.

www.deucescracked.com
www.upswingpoker.com (less than 10 a month)
www.cardrunners.com
www.runitonce.com (less than 10 a month)
www.iveyleague.com (less than 10 a month)

Work on the basics first. Preflop ranges, what hands to c-bet, what hands to call vs a cbet, etc. Also work on your mental game. The sites I mentioned for less than $10 have mental game videos also afaik. Gl
