"Can't connect to server" "Can't connect to server"

09-30-2008 , 08:16 AM
I Joined CR last week, and have been able to download and/or stream video's on only two occasions, every other time "Cannot connect to server" error message pops up. If I try and stream, nothing happens either. I posted this problem on the CR site under the technical section on Friday, so far no-one from CR has bothered to respond.

Although the video's I have downloaded so far have been helpful and interesting, I am beginning to sincerely regret paying for a year's subscription if it's going to prove this trying to access the video's.

If someone from CR read's this, please can you let me know what is going on.

Thanks.

Stoxpoker.com is also down, what is going on?

Aha!

For anyone who has a similar problem in the future - the problem seems to lie in using Firefox, no idea why. I tried IE7 to download, and it seems to be sorted...

Maybe CR should put a note up to this effect, or if there is one, display it a little more prominently?

Well that seriously blows. I thought CR just been down all day. How is anyone supposed to know this? Its not like I ever try a browser that is not Firefox.

Is this going to be fixed? Not being able to open Cardrunners in Firefox is really putting me on tilt. I dont want to have to use IE ever.

Hi folks -

Everybody take a big deep breath, then exhale slowly.

Our code is tested against Firefox simultaneously with (if not prior to) testing IE.

Bleep - make sure you have the most recent version of Firefox. I run 3.0.2 and 3.0.3 (on two different laptops). It's basically the only browser I use.

Again, please contact support@cardrunners.com if you can't get it to work. They'll get you straightened out, and will hand you over to our tech people if absolutely necessary, though I doubt it will be.

Hi Lee,

It was the response I got from CR support that led to me trying IE over Firefox. They didn't actually say that, but did ask if I was using a different browser to IE, which led me to just give IE a bash. Response below:

Hi Ryan,

Does this issue occur when using a different browser (Firefox, Safari, etc.)? Also, are you based outside of North America?
See if you have any success with a download manager such as FlashGet (http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm).

Cheers,
~ Max

I don't really like Firefox 3x, due to various plug-ins that don't work. Flashget didn't work either.

I'm not bothered anymore, it works fine with IE, which is all I use IE for, and my productivity at work has dropped dramatically since being able to watch at will...

Thanks.
