I decided to upload this clip because there doesn't seem to be a decent quality version of this amazing performance on Youtube. Every version has the annoying letterboxing/black box borders. I know that's how the original movie looks, but I've never been fond of letterboxing. I was able to (mostly) get rid of the black box borders via keyframing in Sony Vegas. As a side note, I really love Sony Vegas.
This is definitely one of my favorite live performances. The first time I saw it was when I was around 10. Even at 10 I was a night owl. I used to stay up late and watch a show on the USA network called Night Flight. One night, they did a Woodstock retrospective and played this clip. I was blown away.
His guitar playing is so passionate and intense and the song, apparently, just came to him while he was up onstage.
