RIP Brandi RIP Brandi

Her death has apparently been confirmed by reputable sources in the Mod forum. If you wish to discuss it you may do so in this thread. This thread is not the place to insult or belittle the dead, if you do so, you will be suspended and will recieve an infraction. Please show some respect.

This.

I do not know much of anything about this, and I am not big on bans. But those who do the above or try to troll this, even if you don't think there has been enough confirmation, will be blocked.

Vegaas,

Nothing against Alex, Peaches, or Jman - but they are not the evening news, or the obituaries, or a story run anywhere besides one place.

When most people pass away, there is at least SOME evidence beyond a few people saying, "Yup, she's dead."

And one thing I learned in my broadcast classes - you always check and verify your sources. I do not know how Alex, or Peaches, or Jman knows that she is confirmed dead unless they have personally seen her dead. Frankly, any information short of that is secondary, and therefore not as credible.

I'm not trying to be grim or disrespectful. However, I have a Communications degree, and one of the things that my professors taught me was to do a bit of follow up work. It's unrealistic to think that the story would not have been mentioned in any newspaper, or on any news broadcast. Do you know why? Because reputable news organizations have to check facts before they run a story like that.

I do hope that I am wrong. However as I said - with Brandi's actions in her life, it's not unreasonable for people to be skeptical about the details of this story.

If this is true, it's a damn shame. Yes,the girl had major issures, but I'd hate for this thread to become a hypocrisy of "RIPs" from the very people who ragged on her in life.
04-17-2008 , 11:17 PM
Ok. Here's confirmation. I am a 2+2'er. Check my join date and number of posts.

I was also close to Brandi once upon a time outside the poker world, before she even started playing seriously in fact (and no I have no horror story about why we weren't close recently).

I have many relationships with people who were close with her up until the moment of her death, including several who loved her and are in a lot of pain right now. These are my real world, meaning non-poker, non-internet based, friends and family. That includes Mzabala who posted perhaps the most heartfelt message in the other thread. If you haven't satisfied your rubber-necking urge yet I encourage you to go read that and see if it helps.

Can we move on now and let her go?

I agree with this completely. I also think there should be some restrictions against people pointing fingers at how people "treated" Brandi on here in the past, because all it will do it bring out the negative in people.

Hopefully the thread can be respectful on both sides.

Lol I did this too. I am nobody in the poker world and I don't have money, but she was nice enough to respond in detail to my PM's without expecting any money or fame from me. I can say that much for her.

I understand why some people aren't broken up about her dying but I am sad that she is gone, if for no other reason than she was a source of entertainment and was nice to me.

At least now she's at peace.
04-17-2008 , 11:21 PM
Is it just me or are Spiffysean and bigbb33 the most annoying mother****ers you've ever come across. For Christ's sake STFU already.

RIP Brandi you were beautiful IMO
04-17-2008 , 11:21 PM
Well obviously anyone who makes fun of someone committing suicide is a huge ass and deserves to be perma-banned. Even though she had her issues, it still saddens me when someone takes their life.
04-17-2008 , 11:23 PM
Can't say I didn't see it coming.

Always a sad thing.

To the people who badmouth, or belittle the dead:
04-17-2008 , 11:24 PM
Wow, that email from DS is haunting and sick.
04-17-2008 , 11:24 PM
IMO there will be a order coming down that anyone posting that email anymore will be banned soon. But good for everyone who does.

When I read about her killing herself the first thing I thought of was that email.
04-17-2008 , 11:25 PM
All,

Let this be the end of speculation.

I have spoken with the police and Brandi's family.

Brandi is dead. On Sunday, she took her own life.

Brandon, her family, myself, and the people who loved her all sincerely request that both her and us be given the time and respect this situation requires. Despite all her faults, despite everything, I know she tried, and I don't think she was a bad person. I will miss her.
04-17-2008 , 11:25 PM
without being disrespectful, this whole saga really reminds me of the girl Ginger, that Sharon Stone protrayed in the movie Casino. Hopefully she is at peace.
