- I grew up playing cards. I learned to play cards seriously from an older lady (my grandmother's best friend) who was the Mississippi State Bridge Champion at the time, and who was also a hell of a poker player (and would cut your nuts off in gin, too). The first time I played casino poker, I lost $120 in a 1-5 spread limit stud game at the Grand in Biloxi and was so pissed off I decided I would get my money back next time! I cut my teeth in Bally's AC 5-10-15-20 stud game....
